Orrville Basketball 2015-2016

  • Flash
Chippewa got a transfer from Canton Mc Kinley who made a difference and kept almost everyone from last year. We lost a couple Seniors but did get some promising freshman. They were the better team. Our inability to shoot from the outside and penetrate on the dribble (small size) was our downfall. I'm not saying we have the greatest coach but they were the better team.

Oh my god someone on this site speaking some sense! Look at the coaches?? Who would ever do that?

Folks wondering why your athletic coordinator position cant support a full time person?? Because the football and basketball attendance is NOT bringing in any money! Make a change and your results will change too! Want people to come to games? Put a team out there that works hard and you can clearly see puts in the work off the court and field too! That has ZERO to do with talent or horses or whatever. Work hard, play hard, have the right attitude and I will assure you the Orrville community will support you-until then enjoy an extra win or two in football by playing bad competition and maybe a few extra in basketball for the same but you are right it changes nothing about your team. Just my opinion and checking in.

I will await your responses bashing me as usual but thanks Old fan I've been saying what you just summed up for years!!

Well I may not agree with a lot over the years and you and I have had some battles...but I am actually mostly with you on this one. However, I do disagree with the fact that we "have talent" we don't have what we used to or are used to. But if you are going to be hard on one coach I just say you be hard on all coaches.

Girls Volleyball, basketball underachieved. Flash when I say that...I agree with you that Chippewa was and is the better team, but we made almost no adjustments to make that a close game. We were completely out coached. Similar to the last state trip the girls had that was very ugly and a coaching nightmare.

Yea Chippewa girls basketball underachived too. They'll probably look for a new coach too. Orrville girls vball didn't under achieve they lost for the same reason the chips lost. I do agree that we might have tried something different in b ball but they were still better. GILMOUR had a guard that could penetrate and she was 5'3 and scored in the 20's. They also had a big girl to offset Richardson.

Ha Ha Flash you mad? Sounds like you are. How about the game plan for Orrville going into the Chipps game? Do you think it was well thought out? What changes did you see to give our girls a chance? You can defend him all you want but that was a no effort game plan he put together. He was grossly outcoached. Were the Chipps better team...you beat they were but we could have done things to keep the game close and see what happens at the end. Instead we did the same crap we do all season and get our girls run out the gym.

I am just saying people jump on here and want to criticize the football program for having no athletes but should still win. Should it not go the other way to when you have athletes and don't win. Or even worse in my opinion don't put the athletes in a position to have a chance to win.

I agree they had a great game plan and shot really well till the end when it didn't make any difference. They had better players also. We did not underachieve in vball. Gilmour was that much better, they won State. We could have played them ten times and most likely lost all of them. I agree in b ball there wasn't much of an adjustment at half, but again I think they were better.

Damn private schools! Cheaters! Recruiting kids from all over and offering vouchers for free education to good athletes. Bastards!!

If the Ville continues to struggle OUTSIDE of the stadium and school it will be an uphill battle.... I never gave much thought to how we played up when we were in school but I don't think any of us did. But we were winning so I don't think anyone cared? A conference change seems like the right thing to do IMO. Everyone keeps calling it a more "inferior" conference???? I don't see it that way at all, it is just Orrville finally being put in a conference of more like sized schools. The truth is if it was ANY OTHER school people wouldn't even be talking about it, they would be saying "that makes sense". If we do have coaching problems (and I am not saying we do or we don't), playing schools our size should be a good way to level the "litmus" test for making those decisions. Gonna be an interesting couple years...... But I'm IN! Old Rider, keep me posted... Wanna come to a few of those games of your little ones!!!

Just to clarify:Back when we were hanging state title banners, the AD position was still part time. Remember Rich King....he taught and was an AD. Kent did the same for years.

Serious question: What would you say to a basketball season that saw us win 6 games? That's like going 3-7 in football. We lost to county schools in the tournament the last 2 years. Want to get rid of the basketball coach too? Same kids. So it's either poor coaching on the boys side....or it's lack of talent.

There are both things true at Orrville right now. You could have put Chuck Knoll as the head coach of the football team last year and I would say the record would have been the same. Talent is down on the boys side and I do not want to lose the football coaches or boys basketball coaches. Volleyball coach is young and continuing to improve...I am just sick and tired of seeing no adjustments being made in girls basketball. That coach has won many many many games in his career. However, I don't feel that I have seen him yet win a game when he had to make some serious coaching moves to either keep us in the game (Chipps) or win won that maybe we should not have.

I haven't watched enough girls basketball to know...but it does seem every team we've gone up against in the last few years that has been as good or better than us...we've lost.

OCC hasn't been a good girls basketball league outside of West Holmes.
