Orrville Basketball 2015-2016

1486wdThat is a great idea with a wcal vs pac. You could also mix in Wooster, west Holmes, hiland, etc in addition
-
An-Old-FanThat is a good idea that the NOL and OCC had to start something like that. Interesting to see if other follow.

rrfanRumors flying about a new AD coming on board. I would say that I am shocked at the name I have been hearing. Does not seem like the super or the board did much homework or look for a very qualified Athletic Director. Seems like took the easy way out and not what is best for the school, kids, or even the new AD. Also, does not seem like there is much going on in the way of checks and balances in the school system anymore.
You would think a job like that would post and potentially look to get a strong qualified person. -
Old RiderBecause the AD job pays peanuts and is not much more than a glorified secretary job anymore.
-
CCRollyIs it RRN?

It should not be....The job was killed when the re-hired the last one. Now apparently Orrville does not need to pay an AD.Old Rider;1779215 wrote:Because the AD job pays peanuts and is not much more than a glorified secretary job anymore. -

Tough spot for this new person, especially with us going into a new league.rrfan;1779237 wrote:It should not be....The job was killed when the re-hired the last one. Now apparently Orrville does not need to pay an AD.
AD is a very visible position within any school system. We're not big enough to justify an $80k AD that's only an AD. Most small schools aren't. Rich King was a teacher and an AD, Kent was a teacher and an AD too.
That said...a good AD is worth their weight in gold..and any school administrator needs to empower his/her AD to get answers from coaches and hold them accountable...and also deal with parents, the media and the general public. We'll see how this works out.
I'd want someone with an administrators license at the very least...and we have those in the district and other districts under Mr. Ritchie's control.....but that kind of certification/experience isn't cheap. -
Old RiderRitchie filled the position with someone he can control like a puppet, pay next to nothing, and continue his mantra of "doing more with less"! Poor choice in my opinion...time will tell.

who knows what that price tag would have been? Maybe not what we all think??? I don't know.RedRider1;1779241 wrote:Tough spot for this new person, especially with us going into a new league.

I agree with you would be nice to have an administrators license at the very least. Time will tell but seems as not much real thought was taken in this decision. -

I think this is a huge point that needs to be talked about. The other puppet is the entire school board that are a bunch of yes people that ask very little if any questions....Old Rider;1779246 wrote:Ritchie filled the position with someone he can control like a puppet, pay next to nothing, and continue his mantra of "doing more with less"! That kind of thing can be changed at the voting booth.rrfan;1779249 wrote:I think this is a huge point that needs to be talked about. The other puppet is the entire school board that are a bunch of yes people that ask very little if any questions....
Vote RR1! -

Old RiderCongrats to Luke Smith tonight on joining the 1000 point club. He is just the 13th player to do it in 96 years of Orrville basketball. Joins the elite that this program has produced. He will also finish in the top 5 all time in rebounds when he is all done. Great career for a well deserved young man!
-
RedRider1I think 1100 points gets him into the top 8 in points. He's got 4-5 games left plus hopefully more than 1 tournament game.
Top 8 in points & rebounds would be too shabby. -
RedRider1According to what she posted on Facebook yesterday, it's official....Audrey Zuercher is the new AD effective this June.

Fantastic! Not saying she won't do a good job (even though she has no qualifications for the job) but this is a terrible hire. The process was a complete joke and the board should be ashamed of themselves for being a gigantic puppet! Might as well be a table full of bobble heads.RedRider1;1782935 wrote:According to what she posted on Facebook yesterday, it's official....Audrey Zuercher is the new AD effective this June. -

Not disagreeing at all...but the AD job at Orrville pays peanuts. I would have liked to see the district go back to a full-time AD and get the salary back where its respectable and open it up. Bring in new blood and fresh ideas. Someone with a backbone that can start holding coaches more accountable...maybe, just a thought.rrfan;1782938 wrote:Fantastic! You won't see it with the current Super...he only likes yes people even if it is wrong.Old Rider;1782967 wrote:Not disagreeing at all...but the AD job at Orrville pays peanuts. Old RiderBoys pulled one out tonight in OT. We were 11-24 from the foul line. Gotta be better than that to beat Waynedale Friday at their place.
-
rrfanThat was a very nice win last night for the boys. Glad to see them pull it out. Would love to see another win on Friday.
Good luck to the Girls tonight also! -

$35k for a part time job is pretty good. -
Old Rider
Right..part time job with full time hours! I doubt its $35k/yr...Kent was only getting paid a stipend.An-Old-Fan;1783052 wrote:$35k for a part time job is pretty good. -

Have heard it might be a bit more than that, but part time is a joke...that is a full time job and we all know it.Old Rider;1783068 wrote:Right..part time job with full time hours! I doubt its $35k/yr...Kent was only getting paid a stipend. -
An-Old-FanIn some schools as is the case in Orrville I believe, The AD duties are not a FULL TIME position. It is an additional contract over and above of other teaching duties. In fact Mr Smith would be receiving multiple contracts since he also coaches and works in an advisory position on top of AD, teacher and the Director of the Rittman Academy.

I would like to hear more about what he does at "The Rittman Academy" I have a feeling it would be about nothing.An-Old-Fan;1783228 wrote:In some schools as is the case in Orrville I believe, The AD duties are not a FULL TIME position.
