Inter Valley Conference 09 !!

My 7th grader already has more playing time on that floor than I did!
  • tigerfan82
hoops????? late 70's/early 80's???????? man you are almost as old as Leroy!!!!!!!!

Leroy, I stopped worrying about pissing people off years ago!!!! And I am pretty upset that I missed the Fairless JV game.......I had better get a call next time!!!!!
  • jlghoops
Leroy might have a couple of years on me, but same era for sure. 1983 was my last appearance on the Tiger floor in short shorts and tall socks :)
  • tigerfan82
ah those short shorts..............these kids don't have a clue in todays game ;) and by 83 Leroy almost retired!!!!!!!
  • bankonit
from the looks of tigerfan at the alumni game, he might have created a few of those deadspots in the floor from all the weight the floor was supporting that night.
  • tigerfan82
so that is the way it is going to be huh????????????? I am telling Duffer you are making fun of his weight ;) cause he couldn't keep up with me!!!!!
  • bankonit
tigerfan, not dogging anyone's waistlines, just saying that some of those dead spots in the old tiger gym floor could have been caused by the alumni game this past fall. you keep duffer out of this; he ain't done nothin' wrong.

gotta make a comment about the Hiland?Conotton Valley game tuesday. When Hiland jumped out to a 15-0 lead i thought "here we go again". But CV essentially played the Hwaks pretty even from there untuil the mid 4th qtr. they play maybe one senior; and have a pretty nice team. The freshman 6'5 Bailey is a load, and handles the ball quite well and is very strong around the basket. He will be a force to be reckoned with the next 3 years. plus their jr. point guard did a nice job against good pressure all night and the other (jr) Bailey has a good outside shot (tho awkward looking). And soph Ball, arguably maybe their best player, is out for the year from a football injury. They played hard all night and they will surprise some people this year, and could have their best looking team in a decade next year. Their floor is somewhat of an equalizer, and on a normal sized floor things may be a little different. But their coaches seemed to be doing a good job (both levels) and gotta say i was impressed with what I saw. Keep it up CV.

Thought I would post standings at the "halfway" point. Some teams have met twice. I believe Strasburg and Malvern have yet to meet. Biggest surprises for me when I look at my pre-season list are Strasburg (lower than expected) and Ridgwood (higher than expected).

    Hiland (9-0) 12-0
    Garaway (7-1) 8-2
    Malvern (5-3) 6-5
    TCC (5-4) 8-4
    Ridgewood (4-4) 6-5
    Strasburg (4-4) 6-5
    Newcomerstown (2-7) 5-8
    Sandy Valley (2-7) 5-8
    Conotton Valley (0-8) 2-10

I just hope someone in the IVC will be at Cbus in March....and rep the conference well.

I hate going down there with no one to root for.

The Hiland-Garaway game was a wonderful one Saturday night. Both teams and coaches should feel proud of their effort. Best game I've seen in several years. Hiland just made a couple of plays in the last 1:15 that made it go their way. Hope the one at Garaway as just as good... with the same result!

If the Hawks can do just a little better than 2/19 on 3's, I think they will be fine.

Kudo's to Josh Boyd who stole the ball on Garaway's last possession. Great, great play.

..and his brother Noah for shooting his foul shots after Josh was fouled!
  • Hesston
That was a great game and there are tons of schools/communities that have no idea what playing that type of game with that atmosphere in the gym is like. (I say it was like a regional finals
Hiland v Garaway is just a great rivalry.

Oh my gosh! I did it again!! NOAH, NOAH, NOAH.

I guess Josh has been over to the house too often.

Noah should come over. We don't have a dog since we had to put her down in October, and our fireplace is pretty safe! (It's an inside joke) Although the cats do get underfoot sometimes. :)

Had Malvern shot better than 1-19 from the 3-point line the night before, it would have been a far more interesting game in the second half :)

    True enough.. ifs and buts...

...and had Hiland shot better than the 2/19 from 3-point on saturday, it would have been a far less interesting game. that's the way it rolls

Not sure what Hiland shot from 3 range against Malvern the other night, but it wasn't a ton better than the Hornets. Had both teams been hitting, the score would have been in the 80's, but I suspect with same results :(
