Inter Valley Conference 09 !!

the ivc is hiland's to lose in my opinion; garaway, malvern and strasburg and tcc will be there in the mix too.
saw strasburg's foundation game and they need to firm up the ballhandling to be able to compete this year.

Bad thing about the jv game in game one last year, was the fact that Berlin and then Sugarcreek had no convenience stores open that would have provided the coach some salve for his posterior. I think he had a hard time sitting down after that spanking. People kept yelling at him during the varsity game telling him to SIT DOWN!! He just kept wiping his eyes and nodding his head no. Poor fella.
  • Pariah
    Now that is funny. :)

If you go out to the west end of Berlin there is the world famous "Dutch Cupboard" and there are actually several stores in Sugarcreek - but I'm not sure they would have had butt cream. I recommend Aloe Vera if it ever happens again. :)

You two might want to get on a private forum....you are making me nervous!
  • Hesston
Nothing like a good discusion concerning butt cream
  • jlghoops
Tiger just called and wants to know if that cream works on facial wounds :)

To bad Coach Slusser couldnt be the Basketball coach too...Maybe the Generals would have a winning program in basketball, they do in his other two sports, FOOTBALL, and baseball
I didn't mean to make it sound like I was complaining---I realize when football goes long with playoffs it no doubt affects the b-ball season starts. That's one of the problems with small schools playing athletes in multiple sports. Just making the comment Hiland's conference play won't start till mid December, which is a pretty late start.

Thanks pariah..you can never get good info from where you'd think it should come from. I'll try to keep you posted on any girls schedule changes!

The best athletes play multiple sports...thats why the wood will struggle only havin four football players playing basketball. Jones Hawthorne Davis Lingo

Who cares about the malvern hiland jv games of last year?
  • James "Boobie" Miles

Inside joke guys, dont try to keep up, you might hurt yourselves

Malvern and Hiland previews are in the TR today. You can ante up the 75 cents or I can summarize the comments of Coach Tucci and Schlabach: "Blah, blah, blah, Kauffman, blah, blah, Boyd, blah, Yoder, blah, blah, Conn, blah, blah, Tyler's gone, blah,Travis, blah, Wackerly, blah, blah, Wood, blah, Kapron, blah Majestic is the brains, blah." OK, that part about Coach M I added. Let's just play!
  • TMajic
Why would he be talking about Mrs. Majestic in a basketball article?
  • tfloangel
so basically the write up was fairly 'blah-se?"

And that folks, is without question THE worst joke I've ever (or at least the first deliberate pun i've ever) put into a post on either forum. But hey, its' been that kind of day. I seriously wanted to drop kick about a dozen of my little angels today....

this sums it up. One of our 6th graders has apparently been 'borrowing' jewelry from someone else's grandmother in their 'communal dwelling places' to bring to school to hawk for cash. Then apparently, someone else flushed one of said jewelry pieces down the toilet rather than get caught with it. these are 6th graders, not drug smugglers! yea, its been that kind of week. the kicker is that i'm not THAT surprised.

Happy opening night all! (Hope someone gets a little humor outta that story, unfortunately true)

    Write up from the TR.

    Smithville 82, Strasburg 52
SMITHVILLE — The host Smithies took a commanding 20-5 lead after one quarter and romped past Strasburg.
Corey Caldwell scored 22 points and Derek Orr added 21 to lead the winners, who held a 31-15 advantage on the boards.
Strasburg was paced by Seger Bonifant with 19 points and Drew Kuecher with 12. Kuecher’s father, Mike, passed away on Thursday.
The Tigers were only 14 for 45 from the floor and made 19 of 33 free throws.

To the young man that lost his father: I did not know him but I am sure he would be proud of you. God be with you.

tough opener for strasburg last night; not only the effect of drew's dad passing away, but the quality of opponent. i like the idea of scheduling up but sometimes you get a 30 pointer on your back side when you do that. smithville looked good!
  • Pariah
I liked what I saw at the Perry Reese Center last night!

SV won 41-38 over Tusky Valley on a 3 by Mozden at the end.

The Josh Mason's beat Indian Valley 42-34. Wow. IV is struggling in boys and girls.

Major -thanks for the article. Tough game, but some neat words from the Sp Writer.
  • Hesston
tough game/situation for the Strasburg basketball and school community, thoughts and prayers going out for the family and community.
    a very heart breaking story

Smithville is indeed a very good team, but still suprised by the big loss. Bless the kid who played after losing his dad the day before. What a tough thing to go through. deply effects the whole team.
And Hiland won big as well, but to be honest, not really sure what that tells you. Not trying to be disparaging at all, but West holmes doesn't appear to be real strong (and that's being kind) . They could have a rough year as they are in a very tough conference. Hiland will have to clean up things in a number of areas, and shoot the ball a little better, but one will take a win anytime the first game of the season. Now we have to beat up on each other the next 2 weeks!
It looks like Newcomerstown is for real, huh?!
(Pariah... satisfied with the reffing last night? didn't see any bad calls-- Pretty well a prefect game on their part, huh?!)

Calling hours for Mike are Sunday 2-5. Anyone who has had boys playing Jr High b-ball in the last 25 years will SURELY remember Mike on the sidelines for the 8th graders. I'll confess in probably seeing most of these games & the one thing that I'll always remember is that whether they were up by 20 or down by 20, everyone played and everyone was TAUGHT the game! Can't think of a better testament to the man's dedication. RIP, Mike!
