    Triway 42

Varsity game is 1 minute from tip-off. Here is the WebCast link with stats and text play-by-play:

    End 1st:
    Orrville 21
    Triway 12
  • thePITman
    Halftime:
    Triway 31
    Orrville 28

    Rebounds: Orrville 16 (6 offensive) Triway 4 (3 offensive)
    Turnovers: Orrville 15 Triway 3
Those two stats are quite lobsided.
  • BRF
For us to not go to the line in the first half is ridiculous! The passing: once again....smh. We had a stretch of 6 straight turnovers in the second Q.

    End 3rd:
    Orrville 41
    Triway 38
  • thePITman
    Final:
    Orrville 67
    Triway 55

Orrville went to their bread and butter in the 2nd half, and Triway couldn't close the gap. Congrats to Orrville on the win.
  • BRF
And that "bread and butter" needs to be used a lot more often! Nice seeing you, as usual, Pitman!

What a great weekend for Orrville basketball! Let's keep this streak going now!

    Go Riders and Go Packers!

Nice game Riders, and go Black and Gold

Best all around shooting night in a long time, and only missed 4 free throws, wow,, but the turnovers put triway back into the game, we have to take better care of the ball, each turnover is potentially a 4 point swing. Both teams should have better records than they show, who knows what these last 2 wins could grow into down the road at tourney time.

Go Packers !! Go Riders !!!

    Thanks to Pitman's stat sheet....

Triway scored 20 pts off our turnovers in the first half....only 4 in the 2nd half.

I really liked our passing. Yes, too many lazy passes and tried to hard to "thread the needle" but we're reversing the ball much better, and making quicker passes, leading to open shots.

Shot 64% for the game....and made like 12 of 15 foul shots in the 4th quarter to seal the game.

LOL at Snoddy going to the 4-corners with a 1 point lead early in the 3rd quarter. Winters had some huge blocks in that stretch and we just had too much size for that to be effective.

Liked what I saw....and dare I say we're starting to look like a team that's rounding into form.

Triway is struggling, but still not a team anyone will want to play in March.

Tourney draw is next week....how's it shaping up. Here's my top 4 seeds as of right now.

    1. Hillsdale
    2. Northwestern
    3. Orrville
    4. Smithville

Nice chatting tonight with two OC stalwarts, RR1 and riders1! Thanks for all the good stuff you guys post up.
There is hope for us now. Great effort in securing this win, Riders!
    Oh, and.......Go Packers!
  • riders1
And with 2 big games next weekend before the draw that could happen, especially with next Sat. home game against Northwestern being the last game before the seedings votes.
  • BRF
BTW: Great crowd on hand last night and I give a tip of the hat to Triway for bringing a good contingent.

I see we haven't heard Series62's perspective on the games this weekend, since we won both.

You should get an avatar, too. Maybe we should open it up to suggestions. Bah ha ha!

Pitman: Dude, your stats are awesome! Thanks!

I see that Wasson had 8 of our 20 turnovers. Interesting.

You have Turner listed as having no PT. I think that is wrong.

All the rest is very cool, especially the shot chart.

I have GOT to find out what is the problem with Mitchell not playing.

Thanks, BRF. About Turner not playing, the WebCast's box score doesn't put seconds into playing time - just minutes (rounds down for some reason). He played 41 seconds last night. And don't take the "assists" literally on the WebCast box score, either. They include some defensive assists (if a defender deflects a pass which is stolen by a teammate). There were 4 defensive assists for Orrville.
  • Mr. Russell
Not necessarily saying that they will enjoy success in the tournament, but if Smithville beats Hillsdale Friday (took them to overtime at Hillsdale), pushing their record to 12-5, I think they should be the three seed for sure. Who knows how it will play out though.
  • RedRider1
I could buy that...but if Orrville goes to Lexington and wins Friday and beats Northwestern Saturday, we'll make a pretty strong case.

But being a non-WCAL team in a WCAL dominant district might play against us.

But how much will it matter, either way?
  • lvhoops
Thought Landis had a very solid game. 5 ast ,0 turnovers and strong defense in 17+ mins....we have not had a true point guard in many years ...we may have found one....
  • RedRider1
^^And just a sophomore. He and Neer & Smith didn't look intimidated at all.
  • lvhoops
Those three ,Wasson and Brenner or Pirman is our best all around lineup. I saw the best ball movement and defense I have seen all year. Bring Winters in to block some shots and get putbacks, use the rest sparingly. 7 or 8 person rotation the rest of the year to get ready for districts.
  • RedRider1
Reversing the ball to the weak side has helped tremendously, as has bringing Zach to the perimeter. Allviates the logjam in the key and defenses can't pack it in.

4th quarter foul shooting was key, too. Kept the lead at 8+
  • OQB
I am all for giving these young guys the opportunity and playing time...it will only make us better from here on out and in seasons to come.
  • BRF
Big games coming up this weekend.

I wonder who the starting five will be?
