    Or you could just have moderators use discretion on posts rather than being black and white. That would require skilled moderators, and this forum has ZERO skilled moderators.

    Naturally, the highlighting was mine.

    The day gambling becomes mandatory will be the day it becomes a tax on anybody. Until then, it's a recreational activity engaged through personal choice which costs money.

"I got banned for something that wasn't even against the rules! WTF? They should make clear-cut rules so these power-hungry mods can't just start passing out infractions because they had a bad day!"

    Something along those lines. Maybe not you, but more than one somebody would be saying something similar.

    I've been a lazy browser lately. When I come here, I go straight to my control panel, see if any topics I've already posted on have been posted on since, and I never really go outside those topics.

    In this particular regard, I'd say they have it correct. Allowing adults to choose whether or not to gamble is fine. I'm not even sure why there should have been a big fuss over it. It's an entertainment business, like any other.

    They were going to every state bordering Ohio to do it anyway. Might as well keep their money here because they're going to gamble regardless.

    Might as well lump drinking alcohol, smoking tobacco, chewing tobacco, prescription meds, strip clubs, horse and dog tracks, did I miss anything else? People with addicition problems will find something that scratches that itch! As for mods, this place is starting to take on an eery resemblance to another unnamed place I wont name or say! lol

    EDIT: Also, I wish we could make a GIANT banner of all the promised tax revenue - and where it would go - and hang it on the front of said casino. Then, in 5 or 10 years, we'll revisit the books thanks to the constant reminder.

    Well luckily most state services are based off of income not the amount of $ in your bank account.

    Well if we had competent mods that people respected this wouldn't be a problem on the aggregate. I get 3-4 PMs a day telling me how terrible the mods are here and I'm just an average user; I can only imagine how many PMs Justin gets per day complaining about the moderators.

    I agree that that is a problem, much like those of the same cloth do with alcohol or the lottery.

    Still, it isn't the place of the government to protect people from themselves, as if they somehow know better how to run your life than you do.

    I agree as well that it is unjust to force those who have and get to pay for those who have not. I believe it is an ethical requirement upon discernment, but I don't want someone else determining my ethical requirements when no victim is involved.

    The problem, then, is the social economic redistribution through force ... not gambling.

    I was playing blackjack with my uncle at the Hoover dam and the dealer started cheating for my uncle. I was betting only 25$ a hand and my uncle was betting 200$. He would tip 20 bucks every time he won (he was already up 5k on the trip). The dealer started Not even giving my uncle a chance to choose to hit or stay instead just turning the card up and placing it in the more favorable position for him. I've seen my uncle in a lot of situations but this was the most nervous I have ever seen him. He got up about 3k and walked away tipping the dealer another couple hundred and telling me to meet him at the car quickly.

    Ive also been with my uncle at wheeling downs when he cashed 5000 in for chips at the table and they found a counterfeit 20$ in the money and they took his ass to security and questioned him for an hour or so over one fake 20 outta 5k. He runs a few bars and probably got the counterfeit bill from there.
