I got my Census today.
-
AngelJust received mine today. Haven't opened the envelope, but, plan to just give them the info they ask for.
Not going to sweat it. -
ts1227It's amazing how shit we've done forever in this country magically has become a conspiracy to people in the past 5 years.

Be NiceDid your census make sense?

Does Wooster still get their mail by horse?THE4RINGZ wrote: Just arrived in the mail.
I believe I will fill it out, but am concerned about giving everyone's name and stuff. If it is supposed to be confidential information collected solely for statisitcal purposes why do they need to know the name of everyone living in my house?
I am just not that big of fan of giving the government more information about myself than absolutely necesary.
Any thoughts? -

probably, but it would take an amendment of the constitution to change anythingtk421 wrote: Then what's the point of the census? Taking all the information from all the different government agencies, I guarantee they pretty much have information on everyone already legally allowed in this country. Seems a pretty good waste of money to count everyone again. -

Tell that to the Japanese rounded up by the government with "help' from the Census data. Oh, no, our government is much too ethical to ever use all the data about it's citizens in such a manner. Please.ts1227 wrote: It's amazing how shit we've done forever in this country magically has become a conspiracy to people in the past 5 years. -
ts1227What makes the 2010 Census different than any other one in US history, other than you just so have happened to despise the President and/or Congress when this one showed up in your mailbox?
The standards are quite rigid on how it is run and how the data is used, regardless of who is in power. -

except almost 40% of those were not US citizens.tk421 wrote:

I find the amount of information the government already has about us alarming, I see no need to voluntarily give them more. Call me crazy, but I wouldn't trust our government with my grocery list, let alone private information about it's citizens.ts1227 wrote: What makes the 2010 Census different than any other one in US history, other than you just so have happened to despise the President and/or Congress when this one showed up in your mailbox?

Then why do we need it? If it's redundant, what's the point, besides government waste and counting illegal immigrants?Glory Days wrote:

because its probably a lot easier, less time consuming, and more accurate to have you fill out a few questions than have many different agencies combine their information to maybe have the correct information after it is all said and done.tk421 wrote:

I don't think the illegals, nor criminals will attach their names to an address. So how accurate is this? Just asking.tk421 wrote:

It doesn't ask your citizenship, so I don't doubt some will fill it out.Ghmothwdwhso wrote:

AngelCatching up on my mail. opened, filled it out. Took 30 seconds. If I type my address into google, i'll find alot more information than what I just filled out on my census form.

This. Don't worry about giving your name to the government unless you have some reason to be concerned. They gave you a social security number when you were born so they know your name. It's not a big deal.Angel wrote: Catching up on my mail. opened, filled it out. Took 30 seconds. maldaseFilled it out in a couple of minutes last night...I have to chuckle at the paranoia running rampant about this
-
Fab1bGot mine as I was walking out the door today to head to work, will fill it out tonight or tomorrow morning.

WebsurfinbirdFilled mine out. Pretty painless.
