Obese People...

darbypitcher22puffy,
you don't have that problem at the Shoe. Everybody stands the whole game...
Well, during big games anyways -
End of LineI know what you mean. I took my fiend who is 6'5 420 to a game. He plays hockey so he does exercise lol.

did you even read my post? you're a moronGoChiefs wrote:
Another post from someone who has no clue. Like I said..food becomes an addiction for some obese people. You think the obese doesn't know you lose more pounds when your heavier? Your an idiot if you think they don't already know that. It's all about will power. Just like it is with a drug addiction.derek bomar wrote: umm i dont think fat people realize how easy it is too lose weight when ur obese...its much easier to lose a hundy when ur obese then it is to lose 40 when you aren't...fat rolls off you when you have too much of it. Your body wants to get rid of it, so moderate excercise and some self control will actually work if you're obese...problem is, they're lazy. Period. So they won't try and if they do try they wont see it through. -

from 2007 to now I've lost 85 lbs. I could say I know a lot about losing weight and keeping it off. Now stfu.GoChiefs wrote:
Well as a matter of fact it does make me more of an expert. If you haven't lived the life..you know absolutely nothing about it.devil1197 wrote: You are calling derek out for having no clue on the subject.
Just because you are overweight doesn't give you any more expert knowledge than the next poster on this board. -
Scarlet_BuckeyeObese people are the most discrimminated sect (far more so than nationality, etc.).

So that's what they were talking about when you were described as being light in the loafers?derek bomar wrote: from 2007 to now I've lost 85 lbs. I could say I know a lot about losing weight and keeping it off. Now stfu. -

ha yea...I am considerably lighter than I was a couple years ago. I feel great, ran a marathon and plan to do it again...just mad at myself I ever got out of shape to begin with. All it takes is effort, and that's something fat people don't want to hear, because it's hard. But it's worth it if you can just start eating right and exercising more. If you take in less calories than you are burning, you will lose weight. I have about 20 lbs or so left to lose until I'll be where I think I should be for my build (6'2 235 currently). Hope to get it off by April.queencitybuckeye wrote:

WebsurfinbirdJust curious do you guys look at overeating in the same light as Anorexia/Bulimia? Anorexia/Bulimia, IMO, are looked at as psychological disorders, and, for the most part, society doesn't say to the Anorexic/Bulimic, "why don't you eat more/not purge your food?" However with obesity, it seems that any sort of psychological issues are often ignored, when often they are at the heart of the issue.

bigdaddy2003^ Good point.

FatHobbitI would tend to believe that it's not as simple as obese people are lazy, or it's all genetic. I think it's a different combination for different people. I have a friend who I hang out with quite a bit. We always eat at the same restaurants and we have a similar activity level. He is a little less active, and tends to add cheese to everything, so that could have something to do with it, but I would be willing to bet that he weighs more than double what I weigh. I don't see enough of a difference in what we do to be able to say it's ALL based on willpower. In my experience some people just have different metabolisms.
-
derek bomarSome people do have different metabolisms, that's why you have to figure out how yours works and adjust accordingly. Life isn't even or fair, and sometimes you get dealt a shitty hand. But hey, nothing in life worth anything is easy, especially your health. If you're fat and have a slow metabolism, guess what the solution is? Fucking diet and exercise, just more of it.
-
FatHobbit
I don't disagree about the solution, but I think it's a little outrageous for someone who doesn't have a slow metabolism to say that someone else is fat because they're lazy. Some people oversimplify the problem because it's not an issue for them.derek bomar wrote:If you're fat and have a slow metabolism, guess what the solution is? That's not the first time I heard that. My older cousin told me that society discriminates against Obese, even in the work field. I'm not sure how true that is, but it makes you wonder.Scarlet_Buckeye wrote: Obese people are the most discrimminated sect (far more so than nationality, etc.). -

Bottom line is that if you're overweight there isn't anyone to blame but yourself. You have to work harder if you have a slow metabolism or a medical condition, but you can make it work.FatHobbit wrote:

And they should be. If I'm a company why would I want to hire someone who could die sooner or have more health leave of absences than an equally qualified healthy individual?Scarlet_Buckeye wrote: Obese people are the most discrimminated sect (far more so than nationality, etc.). -

That is very true my friend. I've had a few authority types in the past really push that to limit. A couple of them had little mans syndrome anyway. You would be amazed how many people actually can't stand obese people. It's a shame..................mallymal614 wrote:

You are allowed to use the carts at Walmart too. As long as you don't race them with your friends and such they don't care.wes_mantooth wrote: I think it is bullshit that they get all the motorized carts at walmart. Damn it.....I wanna ride on those carts. -

Ummm, that isn't entirely true. Do you actually know how much someone with a thyroid issue would have to do to make up for the difference? They'd never be able to work, eat, or sleep. They'd have to consistently be exercising, and not just your normal aerobics.derek bomar wrote:

NNN
I've suffered from a neural inflammation for the last five years; if I sneeze, I do something my co-workers call "the zombie dance" in order to relieve the pressure put on the major sensory nerves down both arms.derek bomar wrote: Bottom line is that if you're overweight there isn't anyone to blame but yourself. I've had to actually re-teach myself how to do the most basic activities, from holding a pen and writing to shaking hands to gripping a steering wheel. Plenty of times my proprioceptive deficiencies are apparent, and the fact that my mouth doesn't always work the way I want it to is also apparent.
I'm just too lazy to do anything though...right? I never touched 200 pounds until this hit and I'm still shy of 250. But I guess I'll have to go wallow in self-pity in a wheelbarrow full of Twinkies.
