Just watched (500) Days of Summer and it was so very good. Probably jumped right into my top 5 of the year.

Avatar was very good as well but I need to go back and watch it in 3D next time around.

My wife talked me into taking her to see Blind Side two weeks ago, I really liked it, I hadn't been to a movie since I took my kids to see the first Night at the Museum. (sp)?

Saw a sad but good movie recently called "The Messenger" starting Woody Harrelson and Ben Foster, about members of the U.S. military assigned to pass along the news in-person to families of those who died in Iraq and Afganistan. It got great reviews on RottenTomatoes so my fiance and I checked it out ... really sad and surreal: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/10011016-messenger/

Star Trek - I try to avoid the summer popcorn movies, but this was amazing
The Hangover - quite possibly the funniest movie of all time
The Lives of Others - a great foreign film about the life of a Stasi officer
Gomorra - an Italian film that is probably better than the Godfather

On a sidenote: How many of you use the Free Online movie sites such as freeonlinemovies.com? I'm just wondering what the catch is. It appears that you have to answer a survey to access the movies. Then, do you get spammed or get a virus? Just wondering.

The last few movies I saw --

    In the theaters:
Brothers -- slightly disappointed; definitely a good movie and worth seeing, but considering the cast I thought it was going to be better -- Portman and Gyllenhaal buried Maguire
New Moon -- very good movie (Yes, I know... major chick flick film, but it was very good)

    Rented:
Night at the Museum 2 -- best part was the segment between Jonah Hill and Ben Stiller; other than that, the film was very weak -- not nearly as good as the first one.
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 -- excellent movie; Denzel Washington was phenomenal and John Travolta was good as well.

I only saw the second half of the Hangover and wasn't impressed.

Perhaps I'll watch the full thing tonight.

Just my opinion, but I HATED Taking of Pelham 123, Travolta as the bad guy was comical. He just seemed so weird and awkward saying those cuss words.
So has anyone else seen The Hurt Locker? Not a widely known movie, came out overseas in '08, but released here a few months back. It's up for some Golden Globes, if you haven't seen it, i HIGHLY suggest it.

Travolta plays a great bad guy and who in their right mind could watch the Hangover and not be impressed? Wow.

Watched: The Princess and the frog with my wife and 3 year old daughter.

We enjoyed it very much... a couple of scary parts for a three year old , but not too bad. My daughter already has the Princess Tiana dress and doll. Santa stopped by tonight for a trial run... checking who has been naughty or nice, and checking on lists.

Highly recommend the movie for the family.
