He was old and pooped his pants. I'm sure he just wasn't thinking right. Let the man rest in peace.

    You can't be serious?

    As a child rape.

Exactly cc...many of us called this from the get - go and I hope he's getting an extra helping of pitch-fork pokes in the ass today.

Worst sports related scandal of all time? I think so.

Fuck JoePa and anyone who knew and was involved. I gave him the benefit of the doubt when this thing first started and I'm ashamed of it. His name should be wiped from everything he was ever involved with, records, buildings, etc. Smash that statue immediately!

You know his little chubby ass son Jay (who never had a job Daddy didn't give him) knew all about this shit too and he should have to pay some victim damages too, along with Joe's bitchy wife and that no account brother of his.

They should change their name too.

I still don't understand this deep seated need for PSU to get the death penalty or punished extremely harshly. Sure, wipe out everything that has Paterno's name on it, why do you want to punish the kids on the football program that had absolutely nothing to do with this? What did those 80+ men have to do with Paterno and what he did? Don't understand it at all.

What did the players for USC have to do with Pete Carroll and Reggie Bush?

What do the current players at OSU have to do with what Pryor, Posey, Adams and Tressel did?
  • TedSheckler
Why did the 80+ kids on OSU's team have to be punished for a couple kids getting tattoos?

Do you think it would have been covered up if it was a professor raping kids? No. It was a football coach, they covered it up to protect the FOOTBALL program.

These kids have the option of transferring. No punishment.

I defended paterno when the first reports came out and let facts come out first before we crucify him, but now fuck him he deserves everything he gets. It's sad to see a legend like joe pa do something like this. To me his legacy will forever be tarnished

As did I, and now the facts have come out, and now I'm crucifying Joe Pa. I don't give a flying f*ck what he did the rest of his life. Bernie Madoff could have been a saint and he's still a douche for what he did.

Joe Pa deserves to be crucified not necessarily for the initial cover up, but for allowing it to CONTINUE in his football buildings. Who knows how much irreparable harm he allowed to happen...it's beyond awful for those kids involved. It's bad enough to cover up what happened in the past, it's infinitely worse continuing a cover up that allows a monster to continue his predatory ways. Absolutely disgusting. F*ck you JoePa

    Team Sandusky!

Entire school should be shut down. The President of the University down to the janitors knew this was going on.

Why? Just because the lynch mob is sometimes correct doesn't make it a good way to form an opinion.

How did they get a hold of the emails/confidential notes without subpoena power? Were the hard drives, notebooks, files, whatever considered university property and handed over voluntarily? Either way, who knows how much shit would have been uncovered if they did have the power to issue subpoenas.

Put me in the camp that held judgement on JoePa before everything came out and now have a different opinion.

What's the actual likelihood that they tear down his statue and/or remove his name from the University Library?

From relatives who are alums of PSU, very likely to the former, unlikely to the latter.

Any reason as to why not with the library name? Just curious.
  • Midstate01
Crazy to hear how the tone of the paterno's has changed.
  • SportsAndLady
I wonder the legal side to that...if someone donates x amount of money to have his name on the library for y years, and he commits a terrible crime , can they take his name off the library?
  • friendfromlowry
IMO, this story can't come and go soon enough. Terrible story for everyone involved. I can't decide if PSU needs further punishment. Paterno's dead, Sandusky will die in jail, a few others will be due in court. I've been watching the basketball game on ESPN tonight and the bottom line on the screen is nothing but the report claiming this while the family is saying this. Who knows.

I would say no they can't but ya never know with the judicial court these days.
