  I thought 4x4=12 sucked for the most part. Nothing like his earlier stuff. He should stay far away from dubstep and chill it on the recycled electro...like Maths and that track he did w/ Wolfgang.

  I'm known to dabble in some dubstep. It's not something I can listen to all day...but a few songs here and there is alright.

  Electronic music mixed with modulated bass, which is often amplified to the point that it's clipping. Occasional vocals.

  Originated in England, usually 140bpm (beats per minute, the tempo), 2 step drum pattern, heavy bass breakdowns and sometimes wobble or distorted basslines.

  Once you listen to it enough you'll notice the 1,2 pattern and the constant tempo.
  
  That's what thing that bores me about it, the same speed. Makes it easy to mix though.

  I love it. EDM is my favorite type of music right now. Although I can understand why people over 30 don't like it. It doesn't matter what decade it is; the older generation always seems to hate on the new music the younger generation gets into.
  
  The best part about dubstep in particular is seeing it live. The atmosphere of concerts like Skrillex or Bassnectar are just nuts. I've never seen a crowd go more wild, especially when the "drop" comes. If you like to get your rage on, dubstep is where its at.
  
  Coming from a current college student, I think it's amazing how much ground EDM (electronic dance music) has gained. My first couple years, all you would hear at parties and bars/clubs would be rap and top 40 stuff. Over the last year EDM seems to be more popular and you will hear more of that. It's definitely becoming the new music of the young generation.

  Thank you internet and social media! I remember when I first got into trance (late 1999s). It was a task to find new DJs and tunes. I remember having to browse the overprice "imported" section of Sam Goody or Tower to find Tiesto's latest ISOS mix. Those were the days.
  
  
  I didn't realize this many posters were into it. I like it all, but progressive and tech house are my favs. I need to get a mix recorded. I've been slacking bad.

  I also like all, not just dubstep. Right now I'm into the Dutch Hardstyle scene. I was very pumped that Q-dance brought their stuff to EDC this year. Hopefully this leads to events like Defqon.1 here in our country.

  Festivals in general played a big part. WMC has always been around, but nothing like the scale that it is now. Now they are nationwide bringing in major cash.

  There's a difference between calling yourself a DJ and then going out and actually doing it for pay, but I'm sure you already knew that.
