Driving peeves

Just experienced probably the worst one this morning. Lady in front of me is going ridiculously slow. Like 10mph under slow. She crawls up the the traffic light to turn left and hits it as it goes yellow and gets through while I'm stuck waiting for the next green light. Had she not been driving like an asshole we both get through, and probably the next two or three people behind me get through.

Also, stop flicking your cigarette butts out the window.

this happened to me yesterday - minus the cig.

Also, i HATE getting cut off. I hate it even more when it happens in bumper to bumper traffic. Why the fuck did you cut me off? we're all moving 5mph!

    I have road rage...shocker.

People entering the freeway not bothering to look for a place to merge until they've reached the end of the ramp.

Cig butts really annoys me as well. But I find smoking on a whole offensive in any place but their own home.

I'll say it if no one else will say it...

When you are traveling at a decent speed and a car decides they are going to pull out in front of you from a side road, off ramp, etc. Do they do it when they first notice you 500 yards away? Oh no...they wait until you are bearing down on them about 200 feet away and then they do it nice and slow. This is when I wish I had one of those "radar locks" from Top Gun so I could but a missle through the back of their car and drive through the debris.

People who drive slow in the left lane and then speed up when I try to pass them.

People who ride my ass and then slow down when I get over so they can pass.

People who don't pay attention in traffic when everyone else starts to drive and then they leave a 100 meter gap between them and the car in front of them.

Assholes who want to get off at an exit, but drive by the entire line of cars who are waiting to exit, and then stop with their blinker on and block the traffic that's trying to go straight.

Was driving home from Cincinatti last weekend and was at the 71N to 270E ramp and this old bitch did not move over to let me merge. She had more than enough room to move over so I could merge, but instead she literally ran me off the road.

Another thing, people who don't pick up speed as they are getting on the freeway. You should at or close to 65 when you are at the end of the ramp.

Yes, these dicks expect the traffic already on the highway to slow down to let them in. No, dude, you have the yield sign.

But it's still common courtesy to move over a lane for a second if there is no one else on the road!

My exit is right after an on-ramp on 71S. I have to stay in the right lane or else I'm going to miss my exit. And of course everyone trying to get on the highway expects me to get over to let them in instead of anticipating and squeezing in. Sorry, I'm not worried about the people getting on the highway at that point.

But, if it's a wide open road and there are no exits coming right up, yeah, you shouldn't really be driving in the right lane anyway.

Why should she get over to let you merge? She had the right away. (Unless I misunderstood) I admit it would have been the nice thing to do, but as the merger it is your responsibility to merge not hers.

Oh ya, that's like the Brice Road/270N ramp and exit. Part of the problem is that the people coming on aren't picking up enough speed to to merge successfully. It's going to be hard to merge into a busy 65+ highway when you're driving 55-60.

There's no reason to be in that lane. It's a three lane highway with no exits in the immediate future. And little to no traffic.

It is my responsibility, but at the same time, it's a bitch move to intentionally block my merger because you don't want to slide over a single lane with no traffic in it.

I am not familiar with that exit/area, so I probably have no idea what we are talking about.

What are you? Canadian? Get that metric shit outta here!

My biggest peeve when driving happens to me quite often. There's a fairly busy intersection, and if you are traveling north on the road, it turns into the on ramp for 71N. There are signs for quite awhile that let you know that the right lane ends. But every time I am at the intersection, there are assholes in the right lane that go straight through the intersection and try to squeeze over before the lane ends and it turns into the on ramp. I usually just ride the bumper of the person in front of me in the left lane, and force the douche in the right lane to come to a complete stop instead of letting them in front of me.

I'll echo the sentiments about merging onto the interstate.

It is the job of the merger to pick up [or slow down] speed to keep pace with the rest of the traffic flow. Merging doesn't mean that once the dotted lines start you HAVE to enter the next lane either. The merge lane typically gives enough distance to pick up [or slow down] some speed to allow for merging. I experience this problem in Columbus more than any other place. People merging on/off of I-270 onto either I-70 or I-71 is miserable.

    Just friggin' drive.

They slow down too early getting off or speed up too late getting on.

    This.

The thing that annoys me most is when we're in heavy traffic, and some guy determines he's going to weave in and out to save himself 3 minutes off his commute. Seriously, dude, you're dramatically increasing your risk of an accident, slowing down traffic by taking multiple lanes and causing people to break unnecessarily, so you can save what, 3 minutes? Ridiculous and not worth it.

My biggest pet peeve is an impatient driver. I know it can get annoying, and everyone's in a hurry, but seriously, just sit tight, and it'll all be easier.

Merging off of 315 to 270 and vice-versa is a fucking joke in Columbus. It kills me how poorly people take that exchange.

The worst is people peddling along going 65 in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway. What the fuck are you doing.
