Wins 7-6 over Kentucky in 21 innings. Yes, 21 innings.

They get the winner of Purdue vs. Valparaiso.
  • THE4RINGZ
These games were supposed to be played at Purdue's home stadium except it isn't finished yet so they are playing in Gary, Indiana.

Kentucky had the bases loaded with one out in the bottom of the 20th and couldn't convert.

Kentucky used every single position player they had, and now have an elimination game this afternoon.

The game last 6 hours and 37 minutes.

Purdue/Valpo had to wait around until the game ended to start theirs.

    Way to ge Kent State!!

That game was like a normal baseball game, except longer and more boring.

KSU beats Purdue tonight and moves on.

Kent State coach Scott Stricklin played against me in high school. My sophomore year I threw a 5-hitter at Athens....damn Stricklin was 3-3.

He is the only catcher from minor league through fall ball in college to throw me out stealing a base....and it wasn't close....stupid coach made me!

Yeah I listened to the last 12 innings or so on the radio. It was brutal. UK should have won literally 4 times. In the bottom of the 20th, I was convinced. Bases loaded, full count, 1-2-3 double play...

UK's 5th pitcher of the game is their long reliever, also the starting 1B and he went 9 innings in relief. Unfortunately, he got the loss and went 1 for 9 at the plate...

Kentucky should beat Purdue though and will get a shot to avenge their loss to Kent State (I hope).

Ah man that blows. I never got thrown out because I wouldn't run if the catcher was good enough to get me

BTN had taken out the timeslot to carry tonight's regional final, but since Purdue choked and it's now an SEC vs. MAC regional they're showing the 1998 Alamo Bowl instead.

Makes sense. nobody wants to watch baseball because it's fucking boring.

Purdue didn't really choke. They didn't deserve a #1 seed in the first place...their fans didn't even show up to the regional. Kent and UK had more fans this weekend...

I was a sophomore and we were losing 1-0 in the bottom of the 7th. I was only the 3rd baserunner all game (reached twice)....coach gave me the steal sign (#2/#3 hitters had struck out each time) I shook him off....he gave it again and I was the first out of the 7th by about 10 feet.

That coach was put into the HOF this past spring.

3-2 Kent heading into the 9th

Kent advancing to the Super Regionals. Knocked UK off twice. Impressive.

The radio voice of the Cleveland Indians, Tom Hamilton, has been watching his son who plays 3rd base for Kent. He's from Avon Lake and is a very nice young man. I wish him well. This run must be a thrill for them both.

Its been a good year for the MAC in the big 3 sports. The conference won the Bowl challenge or whatever it was, had a team make a run in March Madness, and now having a team make a run in the baseball tournament.

Kent St will take on Oregon in Eugene for a trip to the College World Series.
Oregon is making their first trip to the Super Regionals since the baseball program was reinstated in 2009. They did make the CWS in 1954. Kent St is making their first trip to Super Regional. Who ever wins will be a fan favorite in Omaha.

MAC's first trip to a Super Regional in general (which were started in 1999). Last MAC CWS team was Eastern Michigan in 1976.

Overall the MAC has had a damn good year fo0r a mid-major, given their general shittiness in the recent past

Football - Bowl Challenge Cup co-champion (4-1 bowl record, tied with CUSA)
Basketball - Ohio went to Sweet 16
Baseball - Kent State to at least the Super Regional
