    Sad isn't it?

There are bad examples of people on both sides of this issue. Dan Savage,Bill Maher, Michael Moore,Harry Belafontaine and many, many more people who say they support love and the "Live and let live" motto spew more hate on a daily basis.

Better yet it's not like gays or minorities haven't been killed or assaulted by people similar to the small minded dolts in this church. Also you're acting like minorities better yet blacks aren't punished for crimes hell they make up the bulk of the prison population. Were you in attendance at this service? Also instead of foot washing did you all wash your sheets? You and your pal from Zanesville are the only two here that are not condemning these loons.
It works both ways thanks to having plenty of idiots in the world that jump to conclusions and have trouble comprehending simple statements. I was a prison officer for a long time, the population avg. was 40% white, 40% black, 20% hispanic/ other. Do you just think the pop. is black because blacks are perceived to commit the majority of the crimes? The loons in that church have a right to their beliefs, even if YOU don't agree with how they do it. They are not asking for special privileges and calling it equal rights. They are not coming into YOUR church and demanding equal rights, but I see blacks playing the race card every day. I see gays wanting more advantages given to them that imho they do not deserve. They get what they want, just like in Calif. an illegal alien can get a drivers license. Foreign students can get college funds that I can't get.
This 3 yr old sang a song in his parent's church. I don't agree with it, but I also don't agree with a black officer being allowed to say "I hate white people" at work in the prison, and no one does anything about it.
You can be as gay as you want, just don't expect me to be forced to agree with everything you want. I have rights too.

Sure, they may have a right to their beliefs, but when their beliefs are rooted in hate I tend to not give a fuck. They deserve to be called out for their backwoods bullshit.

I never said religion is perfect matter of fact I can't stand "religion" most of the time. However my statement stands, these people are deplorable and if you don't believe they are a fringe group much different than most Christians then you are dilusional.

You're 100% right. Something like this wouldn't fly in the church I grew up in. It wouldn't fly in most churches.

What in the hell does all your whining garbage have to do with this thread? Start your own thread to whine about blacks and other minorities and how your life has been slighted soooo much.

I can't take a person seriously who actually believes a global flood took place, every animal on the planet fit into a boat, and who believes in a fairy in the sky controlling everything but only makes an appearance 3500 years ago and has people write a book about him that is full of vague BS platitudes; or someone who believes they go to church every Sunday and drinks some cheap wine from WalMart that's been "blessed"(read: some college drop out waved his hand over a couple times) and turns it into the blood of Christ.

This isn't some fringe group, this is religion and its crazily stupid.

Thanks but I think we're talking about the crazies at this church. Nice attempt at sidestepping.

What the hell does you claiming prison is for blacks and implying I am a Klansman have to do with this thread?

Religion is the most regressive crock of shit on the planet.
After a while, it gets easy to believe that there might be more "fringe group" Christians out there than "actual" Christians.

You have these "ain't no homos' gonna make it to heaven" retards, the "God hates phags" Westboro retards and the retard snake handler who recently died because apparently rattlesnakes don't appreciate being passed around. And that's just me naming off the top of my head a well-known "fringe" group, the people mentioned in this thread and a random Yahoo news story that was at the top of their news feed five minutes ago.

And, let's add the molesting Catholic priests. Another "fringe" group! Oral Roberts asked for a shitload of donations or "god" would "take him to heaven". Fringe? Jim Bakker and Jim Swaggart, two other huge tele-evangalists, had big scandals. Fringe? Pat Robertson says something utterly insane about every few months. Fringe?

I don't think many christians claim to be perfect. I wouldn't judge all christians on the flaws of the ones who are in the news any quicker than I would judge all muslims because one of them blew something up.

Oh, I agree. I just think it's funny that a number of this site's (and in general) Christians respond to acts of people of other religions (particularly the muslims) doing something crazy as it being a sign of how evil and horrible their religion is...but excuse anything crazy done by their side as being the work of a "fringe" person/group that doesn't represent the group as a whole. No matter how many of them there are, they are all "fringe". Brings the lulz.

Heretic: I heard the snake-bitten pastor's dad was killed the same way!!!!!!!! Unreal.

Two things: I trust the news' packaging less and less everyday. But I will state that Heretic's point is more true than false. But then again, it was prophesized just shy of 2000 years ago, so he's just repeating it.

Also, being a level-headed person helps wade through all this garbage. I'm glad my life is not dependent upon these people.

One last thing: Hopefully the kids isn't doomed and eventually grows up. Heck, maybe even his parents could even mataure! Here's to hope. ...and change, I guess!!!

Ever heard the phrase "the squeaky wheel gets the greased"?

The idiots in religious institutions always get publicized, the 90% of Christians/churches who are not being idiots and helping their community and just being good citizens, etc don't get publicized. That is a fact. Its a better story to show the idiots like the church in the origional post than it is to do a story about a local church that minds its own business and gives out free food to the poor during the holidays, etc.

I read that in the article, too. The crazy thing to me was just how cool the family was with that. Along the "he wanted to go to the church after bitten; after a couple days, his body started breaking down and he eventually stopped breathing; he died doing what he loved; all god's will" lines.

Sort of thing that makes me glad my parents were Methodists, so their attempt to get me into religion just involved wasting my time making me go to church, youth activities and the like; as opposed to being told to handle deadly animals as a sign of faith.

True in most walks of life. You get that with athletes, as well. The guy who never gets into legal troubles, does a lot of charity work and is a devoted family man is too boring to talk about; but you never stop hearing about the guy who waved around a gun in a strip club while coked up, leading to "they're all thugs!" rants.
