Daniel Day Lewis

He is pretty bad ass. It's hard to say he isn't the best. I can't wait for Lincoln.
  • Dr Winston O'Boogie
    Hackman
    Washington
    Jack

I think I'll go this order. I'll admit that DeNiro and Pacino are great, but not in my top 10.

    Daniel Day Lewis</SPAN>
    Harrison Ford</SPAN>
    Jimmy Stewart</SPAN>
    Edward Norton</SPAN>
    Kevin Spacey</SPAN>
    Tom Hanks</SPAN>
    Paul Newman</SPAN>
    Liam Neeson</SPAN>
    Leonardo DiCaprio</SPAN>
    Gregory Peck</SPAN>

Any list that doesn't include either, or both, Pacino and DeNiro is null and void..sorry, ump

Surprised Clooney hasn't been mentioned yet, he deserves it IMO. As does Daniel Craig and Ryan Gosling.

What about Brad Pitt and Christian Bale?

I can't put Matt Damon on my list because I really don't think he does anything that special. I'm not saying he is a bad actor by any stretch though.

    Kevin Bacon before DeNiro...

I haven't criticized anyone's choices or said that DDL wasn't the GOAT without a reason and/or who was better than him.

    My favorite actors are
    DDL
    Nicholson
    DiCaprio
    Pacino
    DeNiro

I will never pass on a DDL or Nicholson movie though, so those probably are my top 2

Wasn't criticizing so much as offering my opinion, and then following up with my own list (which, for the record, was in progress before I saw your entry). Since you seem to enjoy critiquing my posts so much, is there anything else you'd like to add?

You see Terminator 4? Great in Batman, not sure about anything else. 3:10 to Yuma was solid, but that's about the only other Bale movie (other than batman) that I've seen that I liked.

    Yep!

Pacino and DeNiro peaked way too early in their careers.

Pacino was solid in Godfather I, peaked in Godfather II, made a few more solid films in the next 10 years or so (Dog Day Afternoon, Scarface) and has really done some stinkers since. Glengarry Glen Ross notwithstanding.

DeNiro was awesome in Godfather II, peaked in Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, had a slight comeback with Casino, and has been pretty average since.

Daniel Day-Lewis is aging like a fine wine. Admittedly, his reputation can't really get tainted by bad movies because he's so selective that he's never really in any. And he has the rare enough quality of being so compelling on screen that even the most mundane movies (There Will Be Blood) are interesting BECAUSE of him.

I watched Terminator 4 when it first came out but I can't say I really remember it that much. Was it just a bad movie or was Bale's performance bad? Have you watched American Psycho?

Bale was also fantastic in The Machinist.
