    Nah. Very good though.

Al Pacino IMO is. Mine are....

Pacino-Unreal in the Godfather and Scarface, played those roles beyond incredibly

Hanks-Has been the star of so many great movies the past 25 years

De Niro-He could be here on Goodfellas alone imo

Hoffman-Again he has not only played legendary roles, but the spectrum of them is tremendous

Washington-If you've watched Training Day or American Gangster you know why

"Pacino-Unreal in the Godfather and Scarface, played those roles beyond incredibly"

Agree with that (and I'll throw in Dog Day Afternoon), ever since Scent of a Woman he just plays the same "Hoo ah!" character. He's barely recognizable from his earlier work. In Jack and Jill? Really? Hoo ah!

Damn close. He is still young enough to make a few more top moves and get into serious talks.

Top 5, for me (numbered not in order after Bobby):
    1. De Niro
    Jack Nicholson
    Paul Newman
    Daniel Day-Lewis
    Dustin Hoffman

    No Edward Norton? Leo DiCaprio?

For me, he cant be in talks for the top. I dont mind a guy playing the same role all the time and being awesome in it, cause Pacino is. But the others, in my list, have been able to be awesome in other roles as well (Scent of a Woman was kind of different). Pacino is easily in my top 10 though.

Talking to me? (bad pun...I know)

    Top 5?

No. If we are talking current actors...Leo yes, Norton top 10.

Wow...this is really tough. Steve McQueen and Paul Newman have had some great films (great scripts, too). And hard to argue with Pacino or Deniro. Denzel is very solid, and Nicholson is great.

Let me add Gene Hackman to the list - some truly great performances in great films (Hoosier, Mississippi Burning, to name just a few). Sean Connery may not always turn out the best performances, but he'll always be the best 007 for many. You really can't ignore the excellent & diverse body of work from Johhny Depp, either.

I couldn't stand Dicaprio in the Titanic days, but he's really become a great actor

There will be blood sealed his GOATness for me. Greatest performance by an actor ever IMO.
  • dwccrew
There has been so many great ones and it really is a matter of preference, but I have to agree that Daniel Day-Lewis is the GOAT of GOATs. The way he prepares for his films (I read that for 'Last of the Mohicans' he lived off the land for a time frame and learned to track, hunt with a musket and skin his meals) is like no other. His greatest roles (in no order), IMO, are Last of the Mohicans as Nathaniel, There Will Be Blood as Daniel (Best Actor Oscar) and Gangs of New York as Bill the Butcher. I want to see the other movie he won an Oscar for, 'In the Name of the Father'.

not even a question. GOAT. to say otherwise is just wrong.

Just watched it the other night.

He is no doubt amazing in the movie. He trained for over a year for that role. What is amazing is Paul Dano (who played Eli Sunday AND Paul Sunday) only trained a month for the role of Eli Sunday -- that is an amazing feat there. He did tremendous as Eli.

When I saw you posted, I was wondering how you could actually troll my post. For a second, I forgot you completely fail in everything, including trolling.

I award you 0 points and may god have mercy on your soul.

God I hate Paul Dano. He was horrible in There Will be Blood. DDL pwned though.
