High School Sports Championships

  • password
Has there ever been a High School in Ohio that has won the state championship in Football, Basketball and Baseball in the same school year? I have heard of schools winning boys and girls basketball championships in the past but not all three boys sports in the same year. If this has never been done, what is the most state championships won by a school in any sports "Boys and Girls combined" during the same school year?

Do individual state titles count or only team state titles? If individual state titles, I'll guess Lakewood St Edward or St Paris Graham in wrestling.

I think it's St. X in swimming and then St. Edward in wrerstling.

    Those are team titles.

Those would be my top two guesses with Walsh Jesuit and CVCA next for team titles.

If wanting individual state titles for a public school (non-wrestling) I'll guess Akron Buctel and/or Dayton Dunbar in track&field.

    hope this helps.

Ask like_that about wrestling, he lost to all the state champions.

To the original question...I do not think it has been done in the same season. Actually not many schools have won all three ever.

When Patrick Henry won their 1st baseball title in 08 it gave them one in all 3 major sports and I recall hearing not many schools have accomplished that. Maybe 20 or so.

Here's from OHSAA site: Three or more state titles in one year. scroll to the bottom.

My Alter Knights had boys soccer, boys golf and boys basketball all in same year (98-99).

    Well that answers that.

It's almost impossible for small schools to accomplish this feat, now D1 schools,it could happen, more kids just playing 1 sport.

    unless you are private.

Its West Virginia, but I'm pretty sure Wheeling Central and/or Weirton Madonna have done it, or at least won 2 of the 3 mentioned in the same year.

My senior year of HS Mogadore was 1 game away from Football and Baseball in the same school year. Won football, 1 game away in baseball.

I beat the D2 state champ. Nice try though.

FWIW, Fort Recovery girls won volleyball and basketball in the same year. Actually-the basketball title was their 2nd in a row.

Yea but WV only has like six high schools and half are in or near Parkersburg.

Best class I had seen at a small school was at St Henry in the very early 90's. They won football and basketball i believe in the same year and I think had a very good relay team in track. In football they had Bobby Hoying who went to OSU, brunswick to Toledo, Hartings who went to PSU, Niekamp who wen tto OSU and I think one other who went to a smaller college.

All from a PUBLIC small school division.

I think Upper Arlington has the most individual/team titles in the state with over 100. They have a whole wall filled with nothing but state championships. Pretty impressive.

Cue the idiotic comment that some of them aren't sanctioned by the OHSAA, as if they're somehow the arbiter of what "counts".

Not in the state championship. Winning only counts as winning when you win.

I beat the school science fair champion in a game of 1 on 1 basketball once. Like 15-12.
