I have not looked really close at the sports they have won, but there seemed to be alot of the "county club" sports ect. swimming and golf. The only non sanctioned sport that I really noticed was lacross. I am not bragging about UA, didn't go there, but am still impressed.thavoice;1065238 wrote:Those state titles by UA is impressive. the only thing that really doesnt make it a huge deal is how many places actually have school sanctioned teams in those sports?
That is the only thing that makes it a little different. -
I Wear Pants
20-40 is probably the sweet spot as far as being small enough to fit in most rooms and being big enough where everyone should be able to have a partner even if some kids can't make it for some reason.justincredible;1065305 wrote:Summit Country Day. As for coaching youth, it hasn't been too bad. Luckily (or unluckily depending on how you look at it) the program is small so at any given practice I only have 9 or 10 kids there. -

I won't publicly reveal that info, since ETB already stalked me. Reps to you for coaching youth wrestling though.justincredible;1065331 wrote:What school?
There are a lot of big youth programs here in Cincinnati. Moeller had 125 kids last season, but they were split up in to 5 "groups" based on skill, age, and weight.
The Moeller youth/club program causes a lot of controversy. -

Since you already posted it on the Internet, I believe that makes it fair game to reveal.

This is why nothing drives me crazier than JH basketball coaches who instead of spending an extra hour on fundamentals, create 20 play playbooks for their offense. It's laughable. Their kids can't dribble or shoot but hey at least the other kids who probably watched hours of film on you before the game:rolleyes: won't be able to figure out what you're trying to doernest_t_bass;1065299 wrote:QFT. Most coaches don't realize this... especially most JH coaches. -

Why doesn't the kids work on the fundamentals on their own time?Classyposter58;1065825 wrote:This is why nothing drives me crazier than JH basketball coaches who instead of spending an extra hour on fundamentals, create 20 play playbooks for their offense. Friend of mine has a daughter who is like 10 and she is on some local basketball league and that coach has over 10 different type of plays they run. He said the games have been pretty horrible as they try to run all these plays and the kids find it hard to learn and execute them all! The girls hate it and find it very un fun!Classyposter58;1065825 wrote:This is why nothing drives me crazier than JH basketball coaches who instead of spending an extra hour on fundamentals, create 20 play playbooks for their offense. I remember in Jr Hi we had a few inbounds plays and one main offensive set vs man and one set vs zone. It was pretty easy and we set up in that on the onset and ran a motion offense.
Too many coaches make it too complicated!
I coached summer baseball for a town that usually has a very strong baseball program. We usually bulked up our schedule fairly well and it was pretty damned fun. There were times we would play some teams who's coaches would have so many diff plays and sets for them to run that they had to wear a wristband. Coach would yell out certain things, a long sentence, and they would look at the wristbands. It was quite comical that their coach was making it so complicated. and then when our catcher would call out a set )mostly for 1st and 3rd situation) it took like 3 seconds to do and was very simple. Some coaches think they need to make it so complicated so the other taems cannot catch on but in the end you just mess up your own kids. -

:laugh:Yeah let's be real it's not until high school at the earliest you need these complicated sets. Kids aren't gonna pick up certain plays and they're certainly not gonna execute so well eitherthavoice;1066233 wrote:Friend of mine has a daughter who is like 10 and she is on some local basketball league and that coach has over 10 different type of plays they run.
