Who's the Worst Moderator?

Time is probably the biggest one. Initial user acquisition is another. Plus, I can make more money doing other things as forums are a time and money dump at best. Sure, some forums make pretty good money, these are the large exception, not the rule. Why not expend my efforts into improving a forum who's community I already enjoy?THE4RINGZ;1051307 wrote:I think this is a legitimate question...
You have the capital, the business saavy to run it, and the leadership to make it successful...what is holding you back?
And, yes, I am asking a serious question.
Justin isn't listening, but at the end of the day its his site. He can do whatever he wants. If in 2-3 years when this forum is a ghost, he might be the only one left. -

Then why do you care how this one is run? Most people who are not happy with something start their own Company/forum or join another Company/forum.sleeper;1051323 wrote:Time is probably the biggest one. Initial user acquisition is another. Stop right there--you're on here as much as anyone, so I call BS. Your other reasons may be legitimate, but this 'biggest one' is not.sleeper;1051323 wrote:Time is probably the biggest one. -

I'm fortunate that my job allows me to utilize a computer and that I can work from pretty much anywhere. The time it would take to to build a new forum, acquire a legitimate user base, and form an organic community would be a large enough consumption of time that it wouldn't be worth it. Justin is lucky more than anything that JJHuddle tried to do an extremely negative change to a successful forum and was able to piece together the latter 2 of the 3 rather easily. Most people on here are not mad enough about this site to leave(and I agree, the site isn't horrible), especially at one time. The issue at hand is the path the forum is going down. There aren't enough "new bloods" coming to the site and creating content. This is precisely how a majority of forums die. No one wants to come to site where a community re-hashes cliches, where they have to sift through the "buddy buddy" nature, and they have to deal with personal attacks and inconsistent moderation. They will simply leave because they will never be apart of the community that we have built here.vball10set;1051332 wrote:Stop right there--you're on here as much as anyone, so I call BS. This is the biggest problem, hence the problem I am most worried about fixing. The inconsistent moderating, as you put it, is from not enforcing the personal attack rule because for the most part I told them to let stuff slide. I've changed my stance on it and they know this and have since been more active. I'm not wiping out the moderators and starting fresh. They do a good job when asked.sleeper;1051351 wrote:I'm fortunate that my job allows me to utilize a computer and that I can work from pretty much anywhere. I make a lot less than $5 a month. A LOT less. -

That's great. It doesn't address any of the other issues. It doesn't really matter to me if you buy what I'm saying or not, but I do know what I'm talking about. The community is shrinking, not expanding. As the community gets smaller and smaller, it accelerates the process of the forum sizzling out. You'll reach a point where the community is so tight nit, especially with incompetent moderators, that no one will be able to enter it. I think we are getting pretty close to that realization, and then its all downhill from there. Sad.justincredible;1051358 wrote:This is the biggest problem, hence the problem I am most worried about fixing. I think it's hilarious that you call the mods incompetent, but you have no idea what is done behind the scenes, what is discussed, why certain things are done the way they are done.sleeper;1051368 wrote:That's great. So how about instead of post about this, at ridiculous length, you go out and bring in new users. If you want new blood in here so much, go recruit some!sleeper;1051368 wrote:That's great. The correct approach is to solve the biggest problem you have, then move on to what's next. IMO, Justin has nailed the top priority correctly.sleeper;1051368 wrote:That's great. It doesn't address any of the other issues. -
The EqualizerI've never seen Sleeper give a dozen straight posts which seem serious and not trolling, so I don't know whether his complaints are legit or a trap.

I don't need to know what is behind the scenes to know that there is a problem. I see the results.LJ;1051371 wrote:I think it's hilarious that you call the mods incompetent, but you have no idea what is done behind the scenes, what is discussed, why certain things are done the way they are done.

How can I bring in new users when the framework of this forum is not conducive to new users? I could spend $1,000,000 bringing people to this site and very few would actually end up being contributing users.Raw Dawgin' it;1051374 wrote:So how about instead of post about this, at ridiculous length, you go out and bring in new users.
