What is your sugesstion ...

I’m going to place a new TV over the fireplace.
I want a flat screen and I want the best for the money.
The area where the TV can go is 72 length x 48 height (the width of the TV is not a factor) it will be wall mounted.
First question should I go with a LED?
Second what would be your suggest of a brand name? What is IYO the best bang for the buck?

    I like Samsung

Well, Belly since you are apparently made of money, go Samsung LED 55". Only $1,100 at Best Buy.

In my opinion from my experience, unless you are a huge TV geek (really into high quality, nerdy about resolution and stuff), the price is the best way of choosing. I have an Insignia LCD which is some cheaper TV from Best Buy. It is a 32", 1080p resolution and looks great. Are there better TV's out there? Yes. Any that I would actually notice big differences (besides size)? Nope.

    Panasonic plasma. Like a boss.

Best Buy had a 50" Panny plasma for $599. Not sure if it was just yesterday or all weekend.

How hot does it get over your fireplace, I'd be concerned about the thing melting.

Not made of money, made money (hard work, long hour and risk)

Buy and shop wise I can get a TV for 24 months same as cash if we make double paymnet paid for in 1/2 the time nothing out of pocket before Christmas.

Not a problem the hearth ? is 48 in opening sending heat out into the room and the mantle is 12 wide between the top of the hearth and the placement of the TV is 3 feet or more

Sears has the panasonic on sale for 699 and I know they had some in stock yesterday. The best currently out there are the LEDs but it's hard to notice the difference

I seriously hope people don't really say "Panny" when referring to the brand Panasonic.

People refer to Chevrolet as Chevy.
