Probably. I know when I have kids they won't be sitting around on their computers or phones all day. Hopefully they still sell shitty flip phones that don't have apps on them when I have kids old enough to need a phone.Glory Days;907787 wrote:haha that assuming a lot. -

Basically everyone currently in high school has grown up with Facebook (those in middle school really have). I work with these students, and trust me, Facebook hasn't replaced their social life. I would say that they are more socially active in real life because of Facebook. For those of us that didn't grow up with Facebook we see Facebook and things like it as an augment to or a replacement for a real social life. For those who have grown up with Facebook it isn't an augment or replacement, it is an integral part of their social life, just like the telephone, email, or instant messaging was for previous generations.Glory Days;907778 wrote:give it a few years, didnt say it would happen today. when you were younger, facebook was still very new. wait till people are going through their whole youth with facebook as big as it is today. -

WebFireI have the timeline, and people can stop freaking out. For one, it's kind of cool. Two, it only changes your profile page. Not your news feed page.

gorocks99Eh, new timeline is fine. Makes it easy to look back in time, although I don't really care to for most people.

Yeah, it's kind of cool for yourself, but I don't see myself viewing anyone else's too extensively.gorocks99;908072 wrote:Eh, new timeline is fine. Makes it easy to look back in time, although I don't really care to for most people. -

Yup i hate this new update for this reason. Good news is it wont be like this for long as they go threw updates like there is no tomorrow.Jughead;905190 wrote:There was a reason I kept hitting "MOST RECENT." I don't give a **** about top stories. -
Glory Daysanyone notice the privacy controls have changed? seems like there is a little less control over individual things now. or maybe i just couldnt navigate my way through it. plus i really dont care what my friends post on peoples walls i dont even know.

The Top Stories and Most Recent are both still there. Either scroll down past the Top Stories, or click where it says "XX+ More Stories," and it will jump you past the top stories to the most recent stories. Essentially the same thing as before, just set up differently.
The privacy controls changed about a month ago and I think it made them easier to access and they give you more control over individual things now. Everything you post on Facebook now, be it a status, link, picture, etc, now has a settings button that allows you to decide who can and can't see that particular item.Glory Days;908718 wrote:anyone notice the privacy controls have changed? seems like there is a little less control over individual things now. or maybe i just couldnt navigate my way through it. plus i really dont care what my friends post on peoples walls i dont even know.
As far as the live feed, I have a feeling that Facebook will end up changing what appears there to only show interactions between your friends. Kind of how they used to update you anytime anyone did anything on something you "Liked," and now you only get a notification if you commented on something. -

you sure about that? i havent seen those controls at all. this is all i can find now.krambman;909153 wrote: The privacy controls changed about a month ago and I think it made them easier to access and they give you more control over individual things now. Who can send you friend requests?
Who can send you Facebook messages?

Yes. Those are just your general privacy settings. Anytime you do anything on Facebook now there is an option in the lower right that allows you to choose who can view it. The default choice is whatever you set in those settings (for me it's Public), but you can click that button and change it to Public (used to be called Anyone), Friends, or select Custom, where you can choose Friends of Friends, a Network, or people from a specific list, or just specific people. You can also do this for entire photo albums or even individual photos in albums (for instance, you upload pics from a bachelor party and some pics you want public, but others you only want to be seen by those in attendance).
When they changed these settings a little tutorial popped up for me to show me how to use the new settings. -

so now that they have that new ticker on the right. how do i stop people from seeing things i write on other people's wall etc who arent mutual friends? all i see are people commenting on people's profiles i am not even friends with. before you never saw this.krambman;909627 wrote:Yes. sherm03I never care when Facebook changes shit. I'm not paying for it, so it doesn't bother me if they want to play around and do weird shit to it. I was starting to get used to this new layout. But I just signed in, and my Facebook was back to the previous version. No more ticker on the side...nothing.
Did everyone else's bitching and whining actually work?! -

I just noticed that as well. I didn't complain before, but I am certainly not complaining now. I didn't care for the last round of changessherm03;921022 wrote:But I just signed in, and my Facebook was back to the previous version. No more ticker on the side...nothing.
