justincredibleThe only thing I hate about facebook changes is when they go fucking up their api's that make it a pain in the ass to develop shit for clients.
-
AutomatikI don't mind the changes at all.

vball10setLike anything else, it'll take a day or two to get used to...whatever

thavoiceI read in some online article that whenever FB does changes like this many people do whine and complain at first.....that the first week their hits increase by a fairly substantial amount because there are many people who apparently hadnt been on for a few days/weeks decide to see what the fuss is about.

I would agree with this, but their goal should be long-term hits by changing for the better, not short-term growth by just moving shit around.thavoice;905835 wrote:I read in some online article that whenever FB does changes like this many people do whine and complain at first.....that the first week their hits increase by a fairly substantial amount because there are many people who apparently hadnt been on for a few days/weeks decide to see what the fuss is about. -

yes like now breaking down which updates are recent, which ones happend within the last 2 hours, and which ones are from earlier today. hey captain obvious, i can just look at the time stamp on the update and realize the newest updates are at the top....that is until you go around fucking shit up with "top stories".chicago510;905969 wrote:I would agree with this, but their goal should be long-term hits by changing for the better, not short-term growth by just moving shit around. -

Agreed.... It doesn't affect my day to day life, but it really fucks up my morning shit when all it will pull up are a few recent posts and some "top stories" :laugh:Glory Days;906095 wrote:yes like now breaking down which updates are recent, which ones happend within the last 2 hours, and which ones are from earlier today. hey captain obvious, i can just look at the time stamp on the update and realize the newest updates are at the top....that is until you go around fucking shit up with "top stories". -

chicago510How the fuck do they decide top stories? Some of the stories on there I could give two shits about.
Not that it matters in the big picture, but unless I'm involved somehow, its not a top story. -
krambmanI want everyone who hates it whenever Facebook changes their layout to think back to when they first signed up for Facebook before there was a newsfeed, pictures, or status updates, and let me know if you want to go back to that. If Facebook doesn't stay ahead of the curve and innovate it becomes MySpace or Friendster. When Facebook came out it was the next big thing, which is what put everyone else out of business. Now that have to continue to be the next big thing, or someone else will be and put them out of business.

First of all, I can't remember 8 years ago. Secondly, I agree with you, they have made good changes, but they have also made a lot of irritating, unnecessary changes.krambman;906126 wrote:I want everyone who hates it whenever Facebook changes their layout to think back to when they first signed up for Facebook before there was a newsfeed, pictures, or status updates, and let me know if you want to go back to that. You may find them irritating and unnecessary, but every change Facebook makes is about making the things you want to access easier to access (although maybe not at first because things aren't where they used to be) and about making the site more intuitive. A company like Facebook doesn't make changes just to make changes. They study what their users are doing, what they like and don't like, what what is happening in the social media world outside of Facebook. They then make changes to meet needs and to be innovative. People may not like the constant change, but most adjust in under a week and end up liking the changes in under a month. Facebook get's it right way more often than they get it wrong.chicago510;906130 wrote:First of all, I can't remember 8 years ago. I dont disagree with any of this. But to me it seems like more copycatting and rearranging than innovating, which is annoying. Maybe I'm wrong.krambman;906135 wrote:You may find them irritating and unnecessary, but every change Facebook makes is about making the things you want to access easier to access (although maybe not at first because things aren't where they used to be) and about making the site more intuitive. For instance: Live Updating feed and Subscribing to even non-friends posts=Twitter, Lists=Google+ Circles -

Ok, so they aren't going to be able to innovate everything, but sometimes they are going to have to take concepts from others and adapt them to fit the Facebook model (Google+ circles were basically groups in Facebook just re-imagined, then Facebook re-imagined them again).chicago510;906150 wrote:I dont disagree with any of this. Go4alOngbOmBHonestly, I just miss the days where I signed on, clicked "recent status updates" and that is all I saw. I don't care about what game you are playing, or what cute picture you took with your puppy or kid or whatever that thing is.....I just want to know what you are thinking right now, and if you don't want to tell me that, screw off!

That's technology. Where would we be if competitors didn't take ideas and build on them, making them better?chicago510;906150 wrote:I dont disagree with any of this. But to me it seems like more copycatting and rearranging than innovating, which is annoying. Maybe I'm wrong.

If status updates and what people are doing/thinking this minute, then sign up for Twitter, because that's what it is designed for. To paraphrase The Social Network, Facebook is about taking the entire social experience of life and putting it online.
I use groups on Facebook. Had no idea that there were groups on here.Glory Days;906283 wrote:does any one use groups on facebook? does anyone use the groups on this site? -
