An external intrusion on our system has affected our PlayStation Network and Qriocity services. In order to conduct a thorough investigation and to verify the smooth and secure operation of our network services going forward, we turned off PlayStation Network & Qriocity services on the evening of Wednesday, April 20th. Providing quality entertainment services to our customers and partners is our utmost priority. We are doing all we can to resolve this situation quickly, and we once again thank you for your patience. We will continue to update you promptly as we have additional information to share.

Explain again how this is better than xbox?

If you're very quiet ... and you listen very carefully ... you can almost hear the weeping of the IT guy who lost his job over this.

I wouldnt say better at all.... The 360 has a superior online setup(pary chat, etc...), I just prefer the PS3 over playing on the xbox and it's FREE. I actually haven't even did the fall update on my 360 yet, I'm loading it up now to update and play a few online game.

    It's free.

its free but you cant play.

Can we not start this shit? XBL has had outages before too.

But just because PSN is free doesn't give them a free pass when shit like this happens either. And there are a few million PSN+ subscribers that do pay so they need to be compensated appropriately for the outage.

I did it for the oils knowing this shit would start.

Are you on a phone and did you mean to type "lols" instead of oils?

    This is so fucking annoying.

The hackers say they're doing this FOR the gamers, so they don't get bullied by Play Station or w/e. This is just ruining the system and in turn ruining the experience for PS3 gamers. I wish these douche bags could be found and punished.

Anonymous has said they aren't responsible for this one.

Yep, because they hacked PSN earlier this month but quickly gave that up because their objective was to get back at Sony, but it only hurt the gamers...

It sucks because I came home Wednesday night with Socom 4 in hand ready to play.. PSN was down and I figured it to just be a routine maintenance... Found out early Thursday that PSN was down due to suspected attacks by hackers..

Point blank, this can happen to anything, whether it's PSN or Live.. Paying a monthly fee has nothing to do with that.

Also, just because it's free doesn't mean it's ok to drop the ball either. With a previous attack Sony should have been vastly more prepared.

Also, ironically, Amazon.com and a few other websites have been experiencing server issues since Wednesday as well.
  • I Wear Pants
    How is that ironic?

Keep wishing... You will never beat me!

I will be starting a dynasty for 2012 as soon as we get a good roster(usually a week or so after release).

Swyped from my HTC Evo with Eternal Prophecy 5.5 ROM.

    Latest update:
We sincerely regret that PlayStation Network and Qriocity services have been suspended, and we are working around the clock to bring them both back online. Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure. Though this task is time-consuming, we decided it was worth the time necessary to provide the system with additional security.
We thank you for your patience to date and ask for a little more while we move towards completion of this project. We will continue to give you updates as they become available.

Lol, probably shoudl fire that up here soon. Seeing as how PSN people cant even seem to protect their servers, smh

Xbox live for 6 years: $300

    PSN for 6 years: $0

Seems like a real tough decision....

Only benefit of 360 is the controller. I have both also, and my 360 collects dust as I've cancelled my xbox live subscription.

And the better maintained servers. You get what you pay for...or dont pay for
