Zac Brown Band - Will they be considered the greatest country band ever?

  • rydawg5
I've never seen a band come out with hit after hit, the latest "Colder Weather" being remarkable.

They never quit and have a great sound is crosses the borders of country music to almost mainstream.

If they keep up the pace (they would have to for 20 years) I just feel like they are on a path of greatness.

    nope

Not THE greatest, I think Brooks and Dunn will always be the greatest. But I do like Zac Brown band, and think they are really good.

No. I wouldn't really consider them "country" either, but they do kick ass.

No...they wont even be close to Alabama

They will be top 5 though

    gonna have to say no

If they can continue at the pace they are at, maybe top 10. But that is a big if.

    Taylor Swift's band.

That's my favorite country band of all time. No doubt about it, they helped revolutionize country music. They are classic.

If they continue at the pace they are at, they'll only be "top 10?" That isn't that high of a standard.

I love ZBB. I have ever since "Chicken Fried" first was an blip on the radio. I introduced them to many people before they heard ZBB on the radio. Their sound is incredible. Their talent is incredible. No doubt about it, they are the one of the best bands of the 2000s, so far. I don't know if they really have a bad song. There are only 1 or 2 that I really don't like listening to, but they aren't that bad -- I just can't get past the incredible ones.

I hope to catch them in concert in the near future. I really hope they continue to produce quality albums and songs. I would really enjoy continuing to listen to them for many years to come. The other good thing about them...they write much of their music too -- it's incredibly rare in mainstream music these days.

I was about to comment that I just had a similar discussion with my cousin at lunch the other day until I realized who it was that posted this. :) Love the song Colder Weather. Just heard it about 30 minutes ago.

ZBB is ok but Alabama far and away is the greatest country band ever. Heck, Rascal Flatts will end up having a bigger career when all is said and done than ZBB
  • LJ
No, because they aren't country. Country music today sucks because hardly anything on the radio is country music.

Rascal Flatts are a sham though

Really? You just had to say something like that?!?!

Rascal Flatts had their time. They are gone now. Until they start making music that sounds different than what they've done previously, they are done. If ZBB continue with what they've done with their first two albums, they will be leaps and bounds above Rascal Flatts. I will agree, it will take A LOT to catch Alabama. It will also take a lot to catch Brooks and Dunn. But ZBB have started off very well. I like ZBB's music better than Brooks and Dunn's music -- not discrediting Kix or Ronnie, just not a fan of some of their stuff, whereas I am a fan of almost all of ZBB's music.

So you're more of a fan of pop music then?

How is Zac Brown band pop?
  • Classyposter58
Most likely Colder Weather will become their 6th #1 in just 2 years and the song Whatever It Is reached #2. I think the Zac Brown Band actually does have a shot considering that Brooks & Dunn had 20 #1's. Just think about it...in 2 years they've had almost half as many #1's as Brooks & Dunn did in 20 years
  • GoPens
Yes I had to say that. I'm not saying whether ZBB is better than Flatts or not...that's personal preference, but as far as looking back at a "career" 50 years from now, I say Flatts is more successful.

The quality of their records have been unreal. The last Record I can remember as good are all early 90s stuff

Because they are. They have a very poppy sound. Their underground shit is a TON better than their mainstream stuff. Jam sessions and songs that were popular back before Foundation. Even then though they were more of a mix of folk bluegrass and country rather than just country.
  • Classyposter58
Btw I think the GOAT is going to be Kenny Chesney when it's all said and done
  • rydawg5
NYSNC sold an unreal amount of records.. should they be considered the GOAT band of pop?

ZBB is definitely not pop music. Definitely not. What song of theirs is "pop?"

I could conjure up more Brooks and Dunn stuff that is more "pop" or "rock" than what ZBB has released so far.

Why would you call them "pop" and say they "aren't country?"
