I just said I don't care for him

You just called me dumb for dissing 2 bands with okay vocals and then you say you don't care for the GOAT of country music? LOL its cool to have that opinion but don't bash me and then say something the same way I did.

I think the best vocals in country music are people like Vince Gill and Ronnie Milsap .. just my opinion though

I never said he was vocally weak like you did of the others

He isn't even close to the greatest country artist of all time....he isn't even top 5

I don't agree at all, I think he is maybe in the top five of male vocalists in country, but not ahead of George Strait, Brad Paisley, or Randy Travis. There are probably others, but those come to mind immediately.

    Thanks for the valuable insight.

    Thanks for bringing up him!

Miss his country music a lot. Such a quality guy and good man for the industry. Cannot go wrong with the ol' hound dog voice he has.

    Hank Sr

    Johnny Cash
    Alan Jackson
    Hank Jr
    Garth Brooks

He isn't greater overall than any of those guys

Even his speaking voice embodies the idea of country music. Everything just turns into a sepia-toned image of a small-town southern country church tent revival in July when I hear him.

To country music, George Strait is definitely "greater" than Hank Jr. He'd be mentioned TONS more than Hank Jr. Mainly because he's probably been more mainstream.

I also understand Hank Sr.'s impact...BUT he only had 11 #1 hits. That's not necessarily the "greatest ever" value. His career did also only span around 16 years -- unfortunately.

The tops of my list is definitely Johnny Cash. He's also topped many other lists.

I understand that. It's still tough for me to crown him "greatest ever." I would've liked to enjoy more of his music had he lived longer.

    Rydawg.....

Your list is so comically it's sad

Your list automatically is voided seeing how it doesn't include the two men who are(according to artists in the genre) the two greatest country stars of all time

I base it on 95 percent of country artists saying he is the greatest

The only thing about Hank Sr, his music just doesn't do it for me. I like some old stuff like Bobby Bare and Johnny Cash, but Hank SRs just seems to dated for me. I do respect it though.

No doubt about it that Hank Sr. made a tremendous impact on country music. Without him, would there be a Johnny Cash? Who knows...

But most "he said, she said" rankings that I have seen have Johnny Cash at the top. And I would say very few have Hank Jr. in the top 20.
