WWE Fans: The Royal Rumble...And the Road to WrestleMania

  • The Equalizer
Duggan going in before Randy Savage, Jake Roberts, Owen Hart, Rick Rude, LOD is horribly ridiculous. Duggan was the equivalent of Hillbilly Jim or Brutus Beefcake in the 80s. A midcard jobber who usually was there to give the next good heel a stepping stone. That is not HOF worthy.

I understand what you are saying...but Duggan was a huge fan favorite. He was extremely popular. He was the first winner of the Royal Rumble. He also never won a belt in the WWE/WWF, only won in the WCW. He's being inducted by Ted DiBiase...who also never won a belt. Two extremely popular characters that never won a belt...it's amazing they haven't BUT "The Miz" has one?!

I do think Randy Savage, Jake Roberts, and Legion of Doom should be in. I am also surprised that HBK is already being inducted -- but he deserves to be in, just surprised it's so soon.

Rumor has it Road Warriors will be going in this year.

Yeah. And that's what the HoF is, in essence. A chance to recognize popular dudes who are currently on good terms with Vince McMahon.

The reason he and DiBiase (who came up with Duggan during the territory days...at least they both were in Bill Watts' UWF before it was swallowed by WCW when it came to prominence...or the NWA before it became WCW...never did quite follow how all of that went down) never had WWF/E belts had to do more with Hogan's politics more than anything. Particularly with DiBiase, as I think he was supposed to win, but Hogan had the WM4 tournament go to Savage (with him, of course, saving the day).

The good terms part is probably the most important thing. Everything I've ever seen has said Randy Savage wants nothing to do with it. But, since he has finally done the legends deal maybe that will change in the next few years. Jake Roberts...can't really take a chance on making a big to-do around that guy at the moment. He might show up at the ceremony. And if he happens to, he will most definitely be drunk.

I haven't even realized the LOD wasn't in yet. That is a no brainer, one would think.

I mixed on guys like Duggan. Sure there's no titles, which means there are some guys who "achieved" more. But he does serve a big reminder of the difference between then and now. He could draw money and didn't need a title. He was over and he could put guys over without losing his appeal. He had a simple formula and character, but he made it pay off. So many of today's characters are just dull and the stories are just so contrived. Everybody has been a world champion, so there's really no value in secondary titles anymore. There is nothing really unique about anyone. So in that regard, Duggan deserves it more than nearly anyone on the current roster will in 20 years.

Wrestlers from the Duggan era were a different bread than the kids breaking into wrestling today. Honestly all the young wrestlers look exactly the same to me. They are all 6'5, tanned (ok, not Sheamus), have a tribal or shoulder tat, are extremely athletic but have the charisma of a wet paper bag. Guys like Duggan, Dusty Rhodes, Jerry Lawler, Roddy Piper, Jake Roberts, Ted DiBiase Ric Flair, Arn Anderson and many others would not get pushed today because they do not fit that cookie-cutter image. Even in their own era they were not the biggest or the most athletic guys, but they had that little something extra that captivated the fans. I think wrestling promotions put more emphasis on the guys that had the whole package as opposed to the guy who fits the look.

I am going to start deleting you from Facebook when I have to work and recording Raw on DVR. Haha.

Yeah, I heard them and Sunny and a few more names I am drawing a blank about but those seem to be the top names so far. Savage is going to get in there probably next year. He and McMahon are on good terms now so he will be in there. Ultimate Warrior too. Duggan may not have won titles but he was well-known and active for a long time. Those two ingredients bring fame....

One other name that should be in there...Bruno Sammartino.

Bruno has been asked and refuses every time. He HATES what Vince turned the business into.

As for warrior, he was asked as well, but wanted a shit-ton of money to be involved and appear.....what a douche

Other names I think NEED to be inducted:

    1. Ravishing Rick Rude
    2. Bam Bam Bigelow
    3. Lord Alfred Hayes (I don't believe he's in yet)
    4. Owen (I wish his wife would die already...she's fuckin it up for everyone)
    5. Rick Martel
    6. The Rougeau Brothers (The Mountie)
    7. Big Boss Man
  • The Equalizer

Wrestling Observer says HOF class will be:

(not in any order after Duggan)

    HBK-Triple H
    Duggan-DiBiase
    Sunny-??
Abdullah The Butcher-Terry Funk(some might wonder why, but I guess he's big in Atlanta, owns a restaurant and wrestled in WCW. Very hardcore in his day and you will notice when you see his forehead.
    Road Warriors-Dusty Rhodes
Bullet Bob Armstrong-Sons(Roaddog and the son that is a ref in WWE)

I think the HBK-Triple H refers to the fact that Triple H is introducing or inducting him...whatever you call it.

So back to the Sting speculation...obviously he had nothing to do with the 2-21 thing...and I just saw on 411 that he's going to be at the TNA tapings tonight to start a feud with Jeff Hardy.

    Ever heard of Necro Butcher?

No. I looked him up and he reminds me of wrestlers that wrestle for promotions that HAVE to do high-risk stuff to get noticed. I seen a couple videos and it looked like there were 100 people there.

Evan Bourne made his return...I'm sure that's a M.I.T.B. participant.
