I'm sure it's just a one time deal for the Rumble. They have a few guys every Rumble that come back just to make an appearance.

Alberto Del Rio... He's the Spanish version of JBL

I am so glad I didn't watch this garbage. I used to like it. But having a guy like Del Rio against Santino for the last two in the Royal Rumble is just awful.

It should never happen. There's been great winners of the Royal Rumble and I think the WWE is just trying too hard to create people -- and those people just suck, like Del Rio and Santino.

I'd say the Spanish version of Rick Martel.

Eh, I don't think they are trying to 'create' anything out of Santino. They just know he is a fan favorite, kinda like Hornswoggle, so they use that to their advantage. Plus, he's well liked in the locker room and didn't bitch when they had him getting beat week after week. So, maybe the little push is their way of saying thanks.

By "create" I mean by shoving him into the spotlight week after week. I remember when he first came on, he was terribly annoying -- just like Hornswoggle, as you mentioned. They just continued throwing both out there and trying to make something out of them. It eventually worked out that the WWE essentially made them "fan favorites" after they completely ran those characters in the ground so much that people were forced to support them.

Well liked in the locker room? That means nothing. It's a show. We don't know what they are like in the locker room. Nor do we know what they are like when they get beat -- I mean, they get their paycheck just like the winner does. It's not like the "villains" in soap operas complain about being the villain either.

If you read internet reports and such, you know who is liked in the locker room and who isn't. And that goes a long way with Vince McMahon when it comes to who is going to get a push on TV and who isn't. If you aren't liked, nobody is going to want to work with you, and that shows on TV.
  • OSH
I am sure a guy like Brock Lesnar was well liked in the locker room...and he did just fine with Vince.

I am not that into the WWE, TNA, or what used to be the WWF and WCW. I won't read the reports. I enjoy watching every so often, especially the PPVs. I don't think that Del Rio or Santino, or even Sheamus are really the best characters that the WWE can put forward. There are so many better characters that they've had and really pushed down peoples' throats.
  • GoChiefs
I'm not saying I liked the way it ended, don't get me wrong, I hated it. Brock was one of the ones that Vince gets attached to and they just sky rocket. Vince will push the hell out of someone every now and then. Sheamus for example. Vince was high on him, so you seen what happened. Not saying locker room presence matters in all cases, just saying that in some cases, if you are one of the respected guys, Vince will give you some extra TV time or a little bit of a push.
  • End of Line
The next three months will be the only time I'll watch WWE for the year.

I understand what you are saying GoChiefs. I just dislike some of the guys they push. It goes back to when JBL first came on the scene too. I dislike JBL big time. Now we've seen Regal, Del Rio, Hornswoggle, Sheamus, Santino, The Miz, etc. To me, they just aren't good characters. I can understand Hornswoggle to an extent.

Honestly, I do not understand why they chose to push CM Punk either. I remember him coming on the scene, he and his Pepsi tattoo were ridiculous, then all of a sudden he actually wins a belt out of nowhere. I think the leaders of WWE really need to rethink some of the characters they are producing and get something back to the likes of The Rock, Stone Cold, Dudley Boyz, Big Boss Man, Bam Bam Bigelow, and those sort of characters.
  • GoChiefs
True, but you have to work with what you got. They have to develop new characters, so I get what they are doing. I just don't like the ones they are pushing either. LOL But the reality is, there isn't a Rock or Stone Cold in the locker room right now.

I guess they're stuck with what they've got, but its still depressing... i flipped on some old stuff on youtube
