This thread doesn't even warrant any advice. Your daughter is almost 18, and has to exercise her own judgement. If you "forbid" her from seeing him, she's going to see him anyways. You'll just have to trust her.

The 24 year old is probably a jackass and will more than likely mess it up for himself anyways.

Plus, if you said to your daughter "No one can be here after 10pm" then she invites someone in, she does not have that right as a minor. The person is trespassing already. Maybe in shit ass NE Ohio where the cops suck and don't know the laws in the state of Ohio you would wait to see the judge in the morning, but not in the rest of the state.

The dudes not trespassing if he was invited by someone who lives there.

The owner has the right to kick him out but he didn't do anything legally wrong by being there.

And you're a complete idiot if you pull a gun on someone without intending to shoot them.

Who cares what law enforcement thinks? They aren't the judge or jury. Most of the time they don't even know what the law is.

I care what they think because lawyers are expensive and I'd rather spend my time and money on something other than court defense.

And there's the whole stigma of getting charged with something and having your name in the paper. People assume that everyone they read in the police reports is guilty.

Well his daughter wasn't even supposed to be there. If someone wasn't supposed to be there and I came home and found them in my daughter's room, I would think that they were there to harm, especially if I didn't recognize them. They would have a gun on them and I would be calling the cops.

Before I left, I specifically reminded her that she was to be at her mom's house this weekend. I did however, asked if she could come over on Friday to feed the cat. She knew she was not supposed to be here over night.

As much as I hate to admit it, dlazz is very close to being correct in saying that I need to trust her judgement...

I'd have a fit! I have 3 daughters. Only one has brought a boyfriend to my house before the age of 18 and the same one has brought a boyfriend since. My youngest turned 18 last month. She was staying with me since January, but I sent her back to her mom. Her mom let her get tattoos and I don't approve of that yet. I told her she can do all she wants to do when she's taking care of herself. Right now, she's driving the car I bought and going to school on my money. As long as I'm paying, I'm making the decisions. I run my house and since she opted to do things against my rules, so she's gone. I've told her many times that my role in life is not to be her friend, but to be her parent. If being a parent forces me to lose her, then so be it. But I don't fear that. I've talked to her since then, so she's ok. I do know her mom is probably giving her carte blanche and I wouldn't be surprised if she gets another tattoo to spite me, but that's something she'll have to live with.

Parent your kids....don't be friends with them.

Being a parent doesn't have to mean making your kids dislike you though.

Just being hard nosed does not make you a good parent. Good parents can be hard nosed just like more easy going parents can be good parents too.

There are multiple ways to be good parents just like there are multiple ways to be bad parents.
