Official Draft Thread(questions, rankings, etc)

I picked up Roethlisberger with my next to last selection. I'm praying Calvin Johnson can resorts back to Megatron this year, and that Welker comes back and stays healthly. If neither of those happen...I'm in big trouble.

    Guilty as charged!!!

I think Holmes .Roethlisberger, and Miller were good value picks.I think my team will be fine if Jackson comes to terms with the Chargers.

I think your RB's are still iffy though. Greene has potential, Forte is great, if healthy. Jackson and Lynch are going to lose touches to Spiller.

Almost everybody's running backs are iffy. When you land in the 11th position the creme is already gone.

QB's - Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger
RB's - MJD, Cedric Benson, Ryan Matthews, Jamaal Charles, Thomas Jones, Reggie Bush
WR's - Calvin Johnson, Wes Welker (IR for now), Dez Bryant, Braylon Edwards, Eddie Royal, Mario Manningham, Devin Aromashodu
TE's - Brent Celek, Jeremy Shockey
    K - Adam Vinatieri
    DEF - Saints

Solid, but really pretty shitty at WR. Now, it could end up being a ton of steals at WR, but going in, pretty bad.

Really solid RB and arguably the #1 QB.
  • Early Cuyler
QB - Matt Schaub, Joe Flacco
RB - DeAngelo Williams, Shon Greene, LeSean McCoy, Donald Brown, Toby Gerhart
WR - Anquan Boldin, Mike Sims-Walker, Dez Bryant, Austin Collie, Michael Jenkins
    TE - Chris Cooley
    K - Jay Feely
    DEF - San Francisco

    Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 DEF

I hate having drafts this early....there is always injuries that kill teams before the season starts.

for that reason alone, we always do our draft the wednesday before the first game

QBs are quickly becoming way more valuable, but still I wouldnt take one that early.

Bingo. The split back system can kill you on any given week. An elite QB is almost a lock to get you 200+ yards and 1 or 2 td's a week.

Our draft is tomorrow, hopefully I can have a good one.

Speaking of sleepers though, Ryan Matthews from San Diego. Only a rookie, but I think he has a great year.

Beanie Wells as well. I expect the Cardinals to run a bit more this season with Leinart and Anderson as the 2 QB's.

My first draft is this Saturday (finally!). Below is a link to the "draft kit" I put together for my own personal rankings. Let me know what you think. Of course there is always personal preference factored in, but let me know if you think anything is WAY out of whack... Or if you think it's a very good breakdown/ranking, too.

solid, your WR could be a weakness.

personally, i like berrian more than harvin or rice for Minny. solid team IMO.

Only thing I noticed that is way out of whack was you having Ryan Matthews ranked as the 17th best RB sorry but hes at worst 12th. Still pretty nice rankings.

I cant believe you got Green, Rodgers, Fitz, McCoy in the first 24 picks. Those are some great value guys.

Trust me, I was ecstatic! I had to come up with a plan at 11 because by that time, the top flight RB's are usually gone. I do think Greene can join that group this year though and I believe McCoy to join that 2nd tier this season.

Rodgers is obviously my glue guy though. He was top 4 in my league last season, so hopefully he can have an even better season this year.

I also hope Matt Forte can get it back on track this year, because that would be an amazing steal considering I drafted him somewhere around the 9th round.

Someone tell me what they think! Only having 3 bench players adds alot more strategy to the draft, and forces more moves during the year. I'm not thrilled with it, but for a 14 team league, I don't think it's too bad. Gonzo was my final pick, in hopes that he's my sleeper!
  • j_crazy
I hate your RB and Def. but in a 14 team league, I'm not sure who you could get to improve either position.

there is potential though se. your WR are pretty solid I think Bowe is going to go apeshit this year.
  • se-alum
Yea, I was in no mans land drafting #6. In that position you don't typically get the best of any position, unless you make a move to take a top guy at a position knowing it will hurt the depth of your other positions. I took Gore 1st, then took Rodgers and Clark with my next 2 picks. I took Clark 3rd since by the time it got to me we were pretty far down the rankings as far as receivers go. I'm very happy w/ my WR's since I didn't even start drafting them until the 4th round. I'm hoping Harrison can build on his finish to the season last year. I think Barber will get TD's, just probably not many yards.
  • hoops23
I think you did fine. Gore is a beast and Rodgers was the #1 scorer in a lot of leagues. With a 14 team league, each team is going to have some areas of weakness
