Well then, that person's an idiot. I hate the philosophy of racial superiority entirely, but the way to combat it isn't to drive it underground. The way to combat it is to allow it to be addressed openly and freely in the public square, so that it can be scrutinized and found wanting.gut;1867805 wrote:I thought I saw somewhere where some Antifa member claimed it WAS self-defense against hatred and bigotry. Justifying violence, now, against words we don't like.
Words can possibly be aggression. Imperative statements, for example, can be calls to violence.
Declarative statements can be vile, but I can't think of one that would fit any definition of "aggression."
Include some cameras or cruise ships that anchor near enough to watch. I'd love to see it play out.gut;1867805 wrote:Put all of them on an island with no police and call it Darwin's Super Bowl. -

I don't know what you mean by aggression or why that's an important distinction.O-Trap;1867824 wrote: Words can possibly be aggression. Imperative statements, for example, can be calls to violence.
Words, under no circumstance, give a person a right to commit assault in "self defense". Words by themselves can not be an act of aggression. Even if I screamed "I'm going to kill you" while being the craziest person you've ever seen, from across the room and without a weapon would not give you the right to assault me in a pre-emptive act of self-defense.
It could only be context around an action such that it contributes to a reasonable person perceiving a threat necessitating an "pro active" act of self defense. -

I was going to say that, but I didn't want to make light of it (or commercialize it ).O-Trap;1867824 wrote: Include some cameras or cruise ships that anchor near enough to watch. I'd love to see it play out.
But it wouldn't even have to be a punishment or probation. I bet you'd have hundreds of volunteers from both sides if you asked......actually, I think most of the white supremacists would ***** out. -

An "imperative" statement is essentially a command.gut;1867828 wrote:I don't know what you mean by aggression or why that's an important distinction.

So, what I meant was that words might be considered aggression if the words are a command for others (especially subordinates) to commit acts of violence.
Consider a military leader or even despot ordering mass genocide. The order might be considered aggression. -

Oh, I think plenty of people would get on board. The Anarcho-Capitalists would ALL be interested, for one.gut;1867830 wrote:I was going to say that, but I didn't want to make light of it (or commercialize it ).

I agree that most white supremacists would chicken out. There's no guarantee they'd hold enough cards to exist in relative safety there. -

And they have you and Donald making excuses for them.
Seriously, find help. -

I'm starting to wonder if the "3/5 Compromise" is being taught correctly in many schools. Because if it was, I don't think you'd see many of these people acting out in this way because they would have a better understanding of the whats, whys and hows and wouldn't be acting out in this manner.
I assume it will not be long before the 9/11 memorials will have to come down since they undoubtedly make many Muslims feel uncomfortable. -

We can disagree and even hate somebody in a political sense. Fine. But to publicly wish for their being killed? This woman is obviously out of her friggen mind.

CenterBHSFanI realize that this is now "old" news, but I just came across it today:
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/08/12/opinion/why-women-had-better-sex-under-socialism.html?mcubz=0
NYT is now romanticizing communism in eastern Europe. By focussing on their sex lives. What the hell is going on here??
I can understand wanting to figure out the stats of women's sex lives of yester years for studies and posterity, but to push an agenda?!
And NYT buys into it? wooooow -
QuakerOatsAnd so it begins ..................
CAMBRIDGE, Ohio (AP) – A painting of a Confederate general has been removed from a state park lodge in eastern Ohio.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources oversees the parks and made the decision.
A department spokesman tells The Daily Jeffersonian in Cambridge that the canvas painting of Confederate general John Hunt Morgan is in storage after being removed from the Salt Fork State Park Lodge.
The painting shows Morgan on horseback and another soldier holding a Confederate battle flag.
Morgan led a raid through Ohio during the Civil War in 1863 before he and his men were captured near East Liverpool.
He escaped and fled Ohio but was later killed.
Several Ohio cities have removed Confederate markers in the wake of last week’s violent white-nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. -

QuakerOatsStole horses from the people while they were in church just up the road. Historic figures are not necessarily to be revered or loved; but we can sure learn why they did what they did, and how others responded etc...... or we can erase history and then risk repeating it.

She also retweeted a reply to her that said the Trump Train ends at a concentration camp. Of course she also deleted, but screen shots live forever. She also defended herself saying that Trump doesn't care about people of color. What a moron.QuakerOats;1867885 wrote:Completely agree. -

Have you heard of these neat-o buildings called museums? They have all sorts of stuff in them, like history, art and whatnot, making them great places to put these historical things.QuakerOats;1867884 wrote:Stole horses from the people while they were in church just up the road. QuakerOatsInterestingly, the statues stood unharmed over the last 8 years, but now we need as much civil unrest as possible to destabilize the Trump presidency. How convenient.
We spent 8 years tearing down police officers, and now its time to tear down the Founders and our history.
The transformation continues. -
Dr Winston O'BoogieI live in an area where a lot of people refer to the war that occurred between 1860-65 as "The War of Northern Aggression". They have a revisionist view of the war and its cause. They see the Federal leaders of the time (Lincoln, Stanton, Grant, etc) as criminals who are often regarded like Nazi criminals. I have yet to see a union figure immortalized in statue anywhere in Dixie. Why there are Confederate statues all over the north is not clear to me.

You do know there are Morgan Raid's markers throughout the various states? Also, no one is seriously going the erasing part.QuakerOats;1867884 wrote:Stole horses from the people while they were in church just up the road. Apparently, you forgot the whole Charleston shooting and the discussion of race and the south after that. Go figure.QuakerOats;1867897 wrote:Interestingly, the statues stood unharmed over the last 8 years, but now we need as much civil unrest as possible to destabilize the Trump presidency. This is not a new issue and has been discussed and debated for years.
Plus, it is not erasing history, as I said it is putting it in its proper context. The statues were created largely by the Daughters of the Confederacy to warp the reasons why the South left and lost. They are created to show blacks who was in charge and a constant reminder of racism and slavery. The statues do not deserve the honor of being in a public square. Instead, they should in museums or cemeteries put in their proper context.
Why should there be a monument in a public park celebrating the people who fought against this country instead of a monument celebrating how great this country is?
I also add that taking down statues of Washington and Jefferson are dumb and that is a false equivalent. -

As far as I know, the city of Atlanta erected a marker for Sherman's march to the sea. That's the only one I can think of.Dr Winston O'Boogie;1867908 wrote:I live in an area where a lot of people refer to the war that occurred between 1860-65 as "The War of Northern Aggression".
