iclfan2The problem is the media is stupid as hell. The AP debacle from yesterday was the AP getting some draft memo from an unknown source, then using it to say Trump is going to get the national guard to round up illegals. It was completely inept and done only to stir the pot. Journalism is dead in this country. If you couldn't tell that before Trump, it is obvious as hell now.
And people are too stupid to stop and think and start spouting off about shit that isn't real. So numerous BLM and other shit heads start talking about it and gets the uneducated bases riled up about things that don't even exist.

I'd imagine he's getting no shortage of excellent coaching, but simply chooses to ignore it.Azubuike24;1837873 wrote:Which is why I support a lot of what Trump is trying to do, he's getting horrible, horrible coaching on how to release, announce and promote it. Sure, there's a sector of people who would criticize him even if he saved 1000 babies on live TV, but the majority really do want a better country. I'm just afraid he's so dense and unable to adjust to a communication style that people understand and embrace. That's his downfall, he's getting tuned out. -

Gary Cohn - A pro-banking democrat from Goldman Sachs (you wouldn't know they exist anymore even though they fund the party) on Trump's economic team seems to know that a weaker dollar will boost domestic and the market must have some confidence in an expectation of a weaker dollar. Yet, the dollar keeps rising, Trump's talk re Mexico is hammering the peso and the FED is ready to start hiking.QuakerOats;1837712 wrote:[h=3]Philadelphia Fed: Manufacturing Outlook Survey Reaches Highest Level In 33 Years.[/h]The Wall Street Journal (2/16, Vigna) reports the Philadelphia Fed’s Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey in February rose to 43.3, its highest level in more than 33 years, with the report showing no obvious outliers. The Philly Fed wrote on its website that the survey suggests that growth in regional manufacturing is broadening. Business Insider (2/16, Bryan) reports the Philly Fed’s manufacturing survey “absolutely crushed expectations on Thursday in another strong sentiment reading for the US economy,” beating economists’ expectations of 18.0 and “leaping up from the 23.6 reading in January.” Overall, the data “seems to indicate a huge leap for current activity as firms reported higher sales and shipments.” According to the release, the index for current new orders “increased 12 points this month (with 44 percent of the firms reporting increases and just 6 percent reporting decreases),” while the shipments index “increased 8 points.”
Not-fake change we can believe in ...
Will be interesting to see what happens when the market strenghtening the dollar collides with market expections of activity contingent largely on a weaker dollar. -
Azubuike24Gotta agree with the media thing too. To the point where people flat out make shit up and force the guy to address it.

We have to give some credit here. There is a huge disconnect between all these people like myself and media that think the press conference was cray and the folks who love it.fish82;1837880 wrote:I'd imagine he's getting no shortage of excellent coaching, but simply chooses to ignore it.
So far Trump being Trump has worked for him in the face of all the gasping. Can't blame him for doubling down. -

Or ya know he makes shit up with impunity and then says "lugenpresse!" er I mean lying press calling them the enemy of the people.Azubuike24;1837882 wrote:Gotta agree with the media thing too. To the point where people flat out make shit up and force the guy to address it.
And this works so good with the conservative IMHO because even as Trump does things conservatives wouldn't like if a democrat did them, they focus on his derision of the liberal media which they love.
And, my guess is that Trump is tuned into this and can always keep conservative talk radio on his side by trashing the liberal mainstream media. -

It works perfectly for trump who plays the media like harps from hell. When they fall for the tweets and fake leaks all he has to say when they actually something right like report on Trump's conflicts of interest or blatant lies....all he has to say is "Fake News - see the national guard story"iclfan2;1837878 wrote:The problem is the media is stupid as hell. QuakerOats points to Obama raiding illegal immigrants. QuakerOats believes Obama and Democrats don't believe in borders and hate America.QuakerOats;1837829 wrote:http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/ice-raid-reports-fake-news-obama-grabbed-400-more/article/2615129
obama rounds up 3,100 illegals in raid in April, 2012 ----- that's ok
Trump rounds up 680 illegal criminals --------- media and rad-left go off the deep end.

Exactly. It's basically the "boy who cried wolf". And they fall for it hook, line, and sinker. You'd think they would try harder to vet stories prior to releasing them. I can't think of one news source I would say is trust worthy.BoatShoes;1837885 wrote:It works perfectly for trump who plays the media like harps from hell. And they definitely do it on purpose too (WH I mean). The AP reached out with the story, WH said no comment, AP publishes dumbass article, WH immediately comes out says it isn't true. Rinse and repeat.

Indeed under the reign of God Emperor Trump the hysterics on the left are acting a lot like you were during the reign of terror that took place during the Obama Regime.QuakerOats;1837888 wrote:thank you, that is precisely what my post could have been entitled.

QuakerOatsI don't recall parading around, or is it 'resisting', wearing female genitalia on my head and carrying vile placards to make my debate points, or blocking the Education Secretary from entering schools, or...or...
The left is apoplectic because they claim intellectual superiority yet they still cannot figure out why they have been consistent losers for 4 straight elections. Chuckle... -
Azubuike24They lose because the extreme left and the rational left were unable to realize they needed to put their differences aside for the election. The right realized this sooner and realized that one issue or another wasn't strong enough to not unite for Trump. It's arrogance and a lot of sour grapes. And I didn't vote for Trump, but I'm certainly one slightly on the left willing to objectively see some of what he's saying.

You make good points in this regard. I am not even sure if the right really even united however given the strong #NeverTrump fraction. I think many of them are sorta like Rand Paul "This is a major WTF with Trump but instead of focusing on him being a disaster let's use the opportunity to get some conservative policy passed."Azubuike24;1837895 wrote:They lose because the extreme left and the rational left were unable to realize they needed to put their differences aside for the election. Indeed hysteria parades itself on horses of all colors - even accountants declaring the end the republic on a forum read by 20 people.QuakerOats;1837893 wrote:I don't recall parading around, or is it 'resisting', wearing female genitalia on my head and carrying vile placards to make my debate points, or blocking the Education Secretary from entering schools, or...or...

Agreed. As mentioned above, as long as the media continues to step on their own dicks, there's no reason for him to change course.BoatShoes;1837883 wrote:We have to give some credit here. Azubuike24The right probably didn't completely unite, but more like gave in. There are many conservative and corrupt guys inside Trump's WH right now, who are secretly waiting for him to fold. However, they don't go as far as to sabotage him doing things that all on the right can benefit from.
The Hilary camp never realized how big the Sanders following would be, and instead of embracing it and working along side of it, they did everything they could to treat them as the enemy until it was too late. A lot of those folks voted write-in or for a third party candidate simply because selecting "Clinton" was too hard to bare.
In the end, Trump's policies are not going to be overly conservative. We've already seen where he stands on some issues, and they are far from on the right. As I've said before, the biggest issue is that he simply needs to work on his approach and how he delivers the information. The mainstream media is so desperate and far away from actually reporting stuff, they are easy to own by someone who has all the information and know how to deliver it. -

Because of 2008-2009. I think you have to look at a longer time range than just ten years, because two of those years ravaged the rate of return. You must look at the overall rate of return.QuakerOats;1837522 wrote:S&P500 is up 50% from 10 years ago. Annualized, that is less than half its normal rate of return.

Azubuike24Trump is Andrew Jackson.

fish82He's actually a good bit of both.

isadoreHail Trump!
He combines the hawkish part of LBJ that committed us to a no-win blood bath in Viet Nam to the financially illiterate part of Jackson that ruined the economy and financial system of 1830s America pushing it into its worst depression up till that time and the racist part that commanded Trail of Tears, the ethnic cleansing of American east of the Mississippi of native people at the cost of thousands of their lives. -
