When the defenders of liberty of advocates of fiscal sanity are ridiculed as such, you know the nation is in serious trouble. -
ZWICK 4 PREZRand is the only one who could beat the Clinton machine. He'd pull enough moderates on the left. Id vote for him over Hillary. Other than that, none stand a chance.

No, nor will/should the IRS ever get abolished. Not to mention it's the people with money that are making the decisions. It'll never happen and frankly i see it as a waste of time to even "discuss". I put that in quotations because I've yet to see anything compelling from justin in the years he has been posting about it on this forum.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1722235 wrote:Does anyone actually believe a flat tax would ever be implemented? There's no way people with money would ever agree to it. They love their deductions.
And should it be implemented? You're going to cut a ton of charity funding in doing so. -

Encouraging domestic production, r&d, and charitable contributions just to name a few seems pretty worthwhile to me when all of the corps could easily take their operations elsewhere. Seems great for our economy.majorspark;1722209 wrote:Exactly. The IRS is not the problem. Its the tax code. If you want to get down to it the tax code is more about "encouraging" our activities than generating revenue to fund the government. -

I didn't realize I had been trying to make compelling arguments about this subject for years. I'm sure I've made a few offhand comments on the subject in the past, but I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I did.Pick6;1722433 wrote:I put that in quotations because I've yet to see anything compelling from justin in the years he has been posting about it on this forum. -
justincredibleI'll concede that the IRS is here to stay. I don't agree that it is necessary but I know it isn't going anywhere.
Do you believe that a 70k page tax code is acceptable? Do you believe that spending 6.1 billion hours annually as a nation preparing our taxes is a good use of time? -
CenterBHSFanNo, our current tax code is a magnificent mess. I totally agree.
However, Hillary isn't the one to initiate any change on that market. She could care less, I imagine. In fact, if anything - she'd add even more special interest into the equations. -

I think it's acceptable because it's necessary. 70k pages nor 6.1 billion hours aren't all anywhere close to exclusive to some 20yr old filling out their 1040EZ. You're looking at standard w2 income, short term capital gains, long term capital gains, flow through income, inheritances, gift tax, estates, trusts, c-corps, LLCs, s-corps, foreign bank account reporting, consolidated reporting, combined reporting, subs/affiliates, mergers/acquisitions. I can go on and on. There is a shit ton that needs to be covered thanks to complexity of business formations, various methods of income, fraud, incentives intended to protect the economy, etc.justincredible;1722453 wrote:I'll concede that the IRS is here to stay. As for the hours, who is spending the majority of the time preparing? Tax professionals. Sorry, if they dont have to deal with as many hours dealing wih tax compliance, they aren't going to be spending that other time curing world hunger. If we're talking individuals spending their own time during their taxes, for most people it will take 1 or 2 hours. Give me a break if spending a few hours a year preparing your tax returns is a huge inconvenience to you. Especially with the benefits that come from it for everybody. -

As far as his ideas... they're probably great if you're a right wing fanatic. Not even tolerable if you're even moderate. -

I know nothing about Cruz but I know the liberal media makes him out to be a crazy nut job. Zwick is your typical liberal, calling everyone with an R next to their name a nut job because that's the cool thing to do without even knowing why.jmog;1722688 wrote:What stances does he have that are fanatical? -

This doesn't convince me that the current tax code is necessary. It shows how unnecessarily complicated it is to run a business. It's like the system was created by accountants to perpetuate their employment.Pick6;1722461 wrote:I think it's acceptable because it's necessary. 70k pages nor 6.1 billion hours aren't all anywhere close to exclusive to some 20yr old filling out their 1040EZ. No, tax professionals aren't going to cure hunger. But that is still a business expense that could be put towards actual productive work or capital goods instead. I'm going to guess that tax professionals don't work for free/cheap, right?Pick6;1722461 wrote:As for the hours, who is spending the majority of the time preparing? Tax professionals. Most obviously his views on gay marriage. How its threatening straight people and typical fear mongering right wing nuts like to spew.jmog;1722688 wrote:What stances does he have that are fanatical?
His abortion of attempts to block ACA which turned into a "if you're not with me you're against me" even to other R's ... also citing it was like Hitler taking over and no one stopping him. More typical batshit crazy nut talk.
Shit he pulls out of his ass to see if it sticks like "dems want to ban and burn books " b/c the sought to amend regulating campaign cash
Id imagine if one were to spend the time they could find dozens of batshit crazy things Cruz believes and panders to his fellow nuts. -

I don't need to know anything about the Republican candidates to get the general trend of what D's are going to think of them. They are all bat shit crazy women and minority hating people who only care about big business and the military. What you posted is no different than any other garbage that the liberal media twists to make all conservative candidates look batshit crazy. You probably just googled "Cruz, batshit crazy" and listed a few results from HuffPost. Great research!ZWICK 4 PREZ;1722741 wrote:Funny since I, unlike you, was able to cite a few reasons why. So some crazy hyperbole statements by him (burning books, etc) I understand (kind of close to the stuff Reed, Pelosi, and Obama have said about Rs over the years, but whatever).ZWICK 4 PREZ;1722728 wrote:Most obviously his views on gay marriage. Id imagine if one were to spend the time they could find dozens of batshit crazy things Cruz believes and panders to his fellow nuts.
However, the two policy things you mention. His stance against gay marriage and against the ACA are rather main stream, not fanatical.
You see, depending on the poll, about 40% of Americans oppose same sex marriage. So, his stance against it falls in line with about 40% of the US population.
His trying to stop the ACA was doing what his constituents asked him to do, you see at that time (and still even today) the majority of the country does not want Obamacare.
I was expecting political views like that of facists or something the way you were talking, not mainstream political beliefs in our country with a few crazy quotes thrown in there. I am sure that Cruz can't have NEARLY as many crazy statements/quotes as Pelosi or Reed. -

Obama hasn't been any better with his hyperbole and crazy statements at times either. He is only half a step better in that regard than Reed is. Biden is JUST as bad as Reed, and he is in the WH...just food for thought.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1722778 wrote:Pelosi and Reed are absolutely no better. But they also have no business being in the White House.
Fully admit that Pelosi is quite possibly the most bat shit crazy person to ever get elected to an office in DC.
