a tea party hero bites the dust

isadorecliven bundy, tea party tax evader par excellance, has shown he is also a racist.
"I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” Bundy said during one of his daily press conferences. “ecause they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do? They abort their young children; they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

It is fun to watch these right wing politicians and pundits abandoning the good ship bundy. -

He just said the same thing that all these people think but won't say in such colorful language unless they've had too many Busch Lights. The establishment Republicans like Paul Ryan have refined their code words over the years and say things like "culture of dependency" and "entitlement society" etc. when they want to gin up the base over fantasies about minorities on the dole. I'm sure some troglodyte like Louie Gohmert will come out and say "Clive Bundy's right!" though. Just give it a couple of days. -
Dr Winston O'BoogieI'm no tea party guy, but Bundy has a few valid points. The black abortion rate is five times that of whites. Black males go to prison at a rate of six times that of whites. Blacks receive welfare at a rate of five times that of whites. I am sure there is some racial component in these stats, but there is no way you can attribute most of these differences to racism. The black community is in dire straits and Bundy, while not very sophisticated in how he speaks, points out some facts.

Not a popular opinion, but I agree with this. The problem is, I'm white so therefore I cannot publish any opinion on the black community being an absolute joke. If anyone of you want to see what Bundy is talking about, please come to DC for a weekend and we can go over to the East side. I guarantee you will leave feeling slightly different about the black community.Dr Winston O'Boogie;1609018 wrote:I'm no tea party guy, but Bundy has a few valid points. Now, I still think Bundy is an idiot and his choice of words were terrible at best; but he's not 100% wrong. My favorite part about this whole statement is we once again see how politics is a team sport and the Democrats are really stretching to once again make all Republicans seem like racist white folk who hate black people. Spot on! -

Is this anything like the code words Joe Biden and Harry Reid used to reassure the white democrat base that Obama was an acceptable negro. You know the clean, intelligent, well spoken kind. The problems faced by the black community all come down to a lack of employment opportunities.Dr Winston O'Boogie;1609018 wrote:I'm no tea party guy, but Bundy has a few valid points. The private sector will not return to dilapidated urban centers because there are not sufficient incomes beyond those supported by SNAP and SSI to invest and expand. There are no sales to be had. The answer to ending the welfare state, ending generational dependency and ending the problems of the black community is the Job Guarantee. The Federal Government should hire unemployed minorities to fix their communities. This increase in income will bring private capital back. And, it costs 3% of GDP whereas our myriad of welfare programs cost 5-10% of GDP and up to 15% of GDP if you include wasteful and inefficient private charity. -

Yup. That's how you get the white union democrats in Parma who haven't jumped ship to the Republican Party I guess.majorspark;1609027 wrote:Is this anything like the code words Joe Biden and Harry Reid used to reassure the white democrat base that Obama was an acceptable negro. Yeah, in their CARS. Not as easy when you rely on the RTA. Indeed a lot of low income job postings straight up say "Must have reliable transportation".gut;1609069 wrote:Most people, including those who never lived in urban centers with a "private sector", COMMUTE to things they call jobs.
And you take a local community like Westlake where everyone drives downtown to work...because they've taken their lives outside of downtown, they're spending their money outside of downtown. That means the sales are outside of downtown and concurrently the income is outside of downtown (save the nights they stick around for the restaurants). None of those people are going into East Cleveland to spend their money. -

The editing job is atrocious. Really terrible that they did that because it does show the man in a better light but not by much IMHO. To me, the problem is not that he said "negro" or whatever...it is exactly that he used the tired old "black people on the welfare state" canard. And no, even if you think that the "welfare state" does not provide "true freedom" does not mean that it is anyway comparable to slavery. Tea Partiers would do themselves a favor if they would never ever again entertain the possibility that people might have been better off as slaves where they were routinely and savagely brutalized. Being unable to get full time work and having to subsist on food stamps is not "freedom" but it is a better existence than slavery.WebFire;1609080 wrote:Bundy Hoax Exposed: Full Video Of Cliven Bundy’s Non-Racist, Pro-Black, Pro-Mexican, Anti-Government Remarks

You're simply wrong. There are NOT ENOUGH jobs, period. When there are job openings for people in East Cleveland the amount of people that apply is enormous. Chalking it up to "effort and talent" certainly makes those of us who were born on first or second base feel better about ourselves though.gut;1609088 wrote:LMAO....so there ARE jobs downtown then?

There are also substantial more whites than blacks in this country. That's why we talk percentages because raw numbers don't tell the whole story.Gblock;1609094 wrote:you can talk percentages but there are still more whites on welfare than blacks -
isadoreLest we forget:
The diets of enslaved people were inadequate or barely adequate to meet the demands of their heavy workload. They lived in crude quarters that left them vulnerable to bad weather and disease. Their clothing and bedding were minimal as well. Slaves who worked as domestics sometimes fared better, getting the castoff clothing of their masters or having easier access to food stores.
The heat and humidity of the South created health problems for everyone living there. However, the health of plantation slaves was far worse than that of whites. Unsanitary conditions, inadequate nutrition and unrelenting hard labor made slaves highly susceptible to disease. Illnesses were generally not treated adequately, and slaves were often forced to work even when sick. The rice plantations were the most deadly. Black people had to stand in water for hours at a time in the sweltering sun. Malaria was rampant. Child mortality was extremely high on these plantations, generally around 66% -- on one rice plantation it was as high as 90%.
One of the worst conditions that enslaved people had to live under was the constant threat of sale. Even if their master was "benevolent," slaves knew that a financial loss or another personal crisis could lead them to the auction block. Also, slaves were sometimes sold as a form of punishment. And although popular sentiment (as well as the economic self-interest on the part of the owners) encouraged keeping mothers and children and sometimes fathers together, these norms were not always followed. Immediate families were often separated. If they were kept together, they were almost always sold away from their extended families. Grandparents, sisters, brothers, and cousins could all find themselves forcibly scattered, never to see each other again. Even if they or their loved ones were never sold, slaves had to live with the constant threat that they could be.
African American women had to endure the threat and the practice of sexual exploitation. There were no safeguards to protect them from being sexually stalked, harassed, or raped, or to be used as long-term concubines by masters and overseers. The abuse was widespread, as the men with authority took advantage of their situation. Even if a woman seemed agreeable to the situation, in reality she had no choice. Slave men, for their part, were often powerless to protect the women they loved.
The drivers, overseers, and masters were responsible for plantation discipline. Slaves were punished for not working fast enough, for being late getting to the fields, for defying authority, for running away, and for a number of other reasons. The punishments took many forms, including whippings, torture, mutilation, imprisonment, and being sold away from the plantation. Slaves were even sometimes murdered. Some masters were more "benevolent" than others, and punished less often or severely. But with rare exceptions, the authoritarian relationship remained firm even in those circumstances.
In addition to the authority practiced on individual plantations, slaves throughout the South had to live under a set of laws called the Slave Codes. The codes varied slightly from state to state, but the basic idea was the same: the slaves were considered property, not people, and were treated as such. Slaves could not testify in court against a white, make contracts, leave the plantation without permission, strike a white (even in self-defense), buy and sell goods, own firearms, gather without a white present, possess any anti-slavery literature, or visit the homes of whites or free blacks. The killing of a slave was almost never regarded as murder, and the rape of slave women was treated as a form of trespassing

So they've been given access to basic education for 44 years and still have excuses? Come to DC. I have friends who teach in the public schools here and they students are absolutely fucked because their parents are absolute morons who don't give a flying fuck about education. That's the reality, not some crap excuse about how blacks weren't treated fairly over 50 years ago. Blacks will always have this issue until they stop blaming whitey, grow up, and work hard to get ahead in life.Gblock;1609089 wrote:weird how a race of people who were denied access to basic education until the early 70's havent got it together yet.

Of course. I'm also positive that some whites are still mistreating blacks; I don't think racism is dead or will ever be dead(or at least the perception will never die). The reality is blaming others and not accepting responsibility for broken homes and a piss poor attitude towards working and education as a collective is the problem in the black community. Not some shit that whites as a collective are doing to hold black people down.isadore;1609139 wrote:gosh a ruddies whitey did some pretty bad stuff to them. -
sleeperI mean look no further than the Asian community; they have the reputation of being insanely hard workers who focus strongly on education and deservedly so. Blacks do not have this reputation because blacks in the aggregate do not value education or hard work despite have similar alleged limitations for being a minority in this country.
