    ..
Given their respective starting points, one has to conclude that Detroit’s Democratic party makes a far more comprehensive wrecking crew than Emperor Bokassa ever did. No bombs, no invasions, no civil war, just “liberal” “progressive” politics day in, day out. Americans sigh and say, “Oh, well, Detroit’s an ‘outlier.’” It’s an outlier only in the sense that it happened here first. The same malign alliance between a corrupt political class, rapacious public-sector unions, and an ever more swollen army of welfare dependents has been adopted in the formally Golden State of California, and in large part by the Obama administration, whose priorities — “health” “care” “reform,” “immigration” “reform” — are determined by the same elite/union/dependency axis. As one droll tweeter put it, “If Obama had a city, it would look like Detroit.”

I always thought it was a combination of bad policies by the D's plus the city never diversified beyond one industry: auto.

Pittsburgh started to head in the same direction, but moved away from steel and towards a more modern economic platform. Detroit stayed with all the eggs in one basket.
Once that industry started to falter in the mid 2000s, the city's fate was sealed.

Where are all the Obamabots bitchin about his wonderful ideas? - http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/07/22/house-intelligence-committee-signs-off-with-reservations-on-administration-call/

Oh wait...they've got chemical weapons, or their more common name - WMD. There aren't any WMDs...remember? "Bush lied" and all that nonsense?

I don't know...maybe the Paulbots were right after all. This whole war-machine psychosis is both frightening and disgusting. Let them blow each other up and save our kid's lives from dying in a useless endeavor.

So you are blasting the Joint Chief for giving military options that he was directed to give by Congress?
    Ok....
Did you even read his testimony yesterday?

ptown_trojans_1;1477394 wrote:So you are blasting the Joint Chief for giving military options that he was directed to give by Congress?
Nope, the article states the ideas belong to the Administration. Oh shit...I forgot...Obama isn't President yet, it's still Bush's Administration. F Dick Cheney and all that noise. Some pull quotes from the article:
Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Mich., said that despite "very strong concerns about the strength of the administration's plans in Syria and its chances for success" there was "consensus that we could move forward with what the administration's plans and intentions are in Syria consistent with committee reservations."
The Intelligence Committee had delayed the administration for weeks from fully implementing its Syria policy, including arming the rebels, Fox News has learned.
The letter was sent as, on the other side of the Hill, the House Intelligence Committee signed off on the administration's call to arm the Syria opposition -- though the committee, which held that up for weeks, continued to voice reservations.
ptown_trojans_1;1477394 wrote: Did you even read his testimony yesterday?
No, I didn't read his entire testimony. Isn't that what the media is for...to summarize and present it? Regardless, if what the Joint Chief proposed has not been developed, blessed or concocted by the Administration then they are surely turning back to their tried-and-true foreign policy of singing kumbaya, holding hands, and apologizing for our mere existence on this rock.

Which is it? Or is Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld still running the show?

Well, the Joint Chief is technically apart of the Executive Branch. But, he was asked to put his ideas down, and he did.
And, no this is the Obama White House, not sure what the hell you are talking about.
No one is seriously considering troops into Syria.
Nor, are they rushing towards war.

    You are conficting two stories:
    1. Weapons to the rebels, which has been delayed as the Congress wants to know more.
    2. The Joint Chief was asked to provide a full range of options in addition to providing weapons to the rebels.

And the White House has played down the chemical weapons usage based on so many conflicting stories on attribution.

And, please, do not rely on the media for a story, go straight to the source. Primary sources are your friend.

Are we or are we not seriously considering sending American servicemen into harm's way via no-fly zones, rebel assistance or all-out support?
Are we or are we not seriously considering arming "rebels", whom may or may not really care for Americans?
Are we or are we not seriously considering sticking our nose into another country's business because of the existence of WMD's?

Have we seen this scenario before? My initial point earlier today is that the Administration's ideas are not being publicly challenged by the Obama voters/supporters. The Joint Chief was indeed reporting them to the House, but they aren't HIS ideas.

My point about Obama's White House is exactly how he got elected...by running against Bush in both 2008 AND 2012. It's all the fault of others and nothing ever sticks to him, even after 1640 days in office. Sorry you missed it.

If you are trying to compare this to the Winter of 2003, wow. Ok......
Completely different on so many levels.

Just because Syria has chemical weapons and may have used them does that automatically make it just like Iraq.
And are we seriously considering those options, aside from sending the weapons to the rebels, I'd say no to the other options.
If we are going to compare Syria to anything, right now it s more like what we did sending arms to the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan-Pakistan in 80-82.

Obama to go ahead and arm Syrian rebels, yeah I can't see how this could possible backfire on us. Up to 1bn per month on Obama's war. Sure glad he received that Nobel Peace Prize. I hope someone asks him if they are going to pass a background check first.

Obama's next book should be "The dreams of Conservatives" and focus on a chapter how they've invented missing white conservative voters and tails of fraud to help them cope with the fact that most of the population of this country is moderately liberal.

My, my; so now we know the IRS targeting of conservatives went all the way to the IRS Chief Counsel in Washington (at a minimum), an obama appointee; one of his only two IRS appointments.

This article is a good read on how the dots are beginning to connect. There should be a lot of people going to jail, except the lame-stream media continues to avoid these nearly unbelievable crimes to protect their political hack in the WH.

I'm pretty disillusioned at Obama's continued war mongering-lite but if we had a hawkish Republican like Romney or McCain in office we'd have been there for months now. Just imagine Jennifer Rubin and Bill Kristol beating the drums for Romney to go in instead of suffering the cognitive dissonance of being sympathetic towards Obama's actions and having to worry about the Rand Paul-wing gaining traction in their party. It could be worse. Obama is to the right of some of these Tea Party types on this issue and it is very frustrating.

What's better, the current policy? 93K dead in the worst humanitarian conflict since Rwanda.
Also, the rebels are splitting into hard line camps, meaning anti-Western clans are taking more and more control. That means whatever takes shape after Asad is morel ikly to be anti-Aemrican and anti-Israel as a result.
The rest of the region is already sending arms, but hell the rebels want more U.S. arms.

Now, sure it easy to say, not our problem, been there done that. But, it is not so simple.
Where e like it or not, the U.S. still is involved in the region and still has influence.
Ignoring it ans just saying we should totally stay out of it ignores reality and the geopolitical situation in the region.

Does that mean $1B in air strikes and troops. No.
It means a controlled, aide to the rebels, ones we know, and to ensure the civil war does not fall into chaos any more and does not spill over even further into Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey, and Jordan.

But, if true, heads should roll agree.

    It's Noonan reporting this:

"Mr. Hull told House investigators that at some point in the winter of 2010-11, Ms. Lerner's senior adviser, whose name is withheld in the publicly released partial interview transcript, told him the applications would require further review:

Q: "Did [the senior adviser to Ms. Lerner] indicate to you whether she agreed with your recommendations?"
A: "She did not say whether she agreed or not. She said it should go to chief counsel."
    Q: "The IRS chief counsel?"
    A: "The IRS chief counsel."

The IRS chief counsel is named William Wilkins. And again, he is one of only two Obama political appointees in the IRS."

There is no bias in quoting testimony in a congressional hearing.

We have the Chief Counsel now involved, and an incredibly uncanny number of personal visits by the top IRS official(s) to the White House. Something is very, very wrong.
