Did the Obama administration lie about the embassy attacks?

this is spot on....finally. It is unfathomable that in an era where aircraft carriers can scramble fighter jets in a matter of minutes, that no military rescue mission/ assistance for Americans in trouble in this region of the world was available. Certainly the U.S. military could not cover the world with this type of protection, but in an area which is an obvious troublespot, and with months of warnings and calls for security, the U.S. commanders (including the CIC and the Sec Def) had 'no options' to deploy any assistance...or if they did...chose not to do so.

I've said it was a bureaucratic failure since the start.
It happens, You learn and move on.
It is not some grand cover up as some on here think. It is what happens in a bureaucracy. Our history is full of them. .

I can understand the bureaucratic failures, and as President Obama stated "not intentional". We should note that as we consider increasing government involvement in our lives including , but not exclusively, health care. While I can buy the 'bureaucratic failure'..it is a bit too easy to just dismiss it as such, and say, 'oh, well...no one was responsible.'

I'm sure that is comforting to the families of the 4 Americans who were killed.

This simply cannot be allowed to happen.

The people responsible for the 'bureaucracy' must be better...or people die.

I'm sure it's also comforting to the 4 families that Billary answered, "What difference does it make?", on what motivated the murderers.

It was obvious from the "questioning" from Senators Johnson, McCain and Paul that their presence was nothing more than to make Sec. Clinton look bad. Given the talk about Sec. Clinton running in 2016, this should come as no surprise. And I would ask all of you "what difference does it really make how or why this happened?". Is pointing fingers or scoring cheap political points somehow going to bring back the dead? It was an unfortunate tragedy, but all we can do is try to prevent this kind of thing from happening in the future. These three Senators bemoan the loss of 4 people in the attack, but I never seem to see them expressing the same moral outrage over the deaths of thousands of our troops in Iraq or Afghanistan. Sheer political grandstanding, IMO. And as for McCain, this is a man who has worked tirelessly these past four years trying (in vain) to smear President Obama or "get the goods" on him. He has, sadly, become nothing more than a bitter old man.

Do you know who Senator Paul is? Why don't you read up about his thoughts on "the deaths of thousands of our troops in Iraq or Afghanistan".
  • TedSheckler
Yea. Damn that YouTube video that got this whole thing started. What difference does it make? The Libtard Senators should be ashamed for the gushing their doing.

He fake tears I'm sure scored some points.

I know full well who he is. He's the nut-case who didn't fall too far from the tree. If he keeps this up he will be regarded as a pest, just like his daddy.

He is the nut case to express moral outrage for all deaths caused by our foreign adventures, unlike a piece of shit like you who doesn't give a fuck about them unless the other party's president started the war.

Some of the terrorists involved in Benghazi may have been a part of the recent attacks in Algeria:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2013/01/23/world/africa/some-algeria-attackers-are-placed-at-benghazi.html?_r=1&

    surprise, surprise, surprise . . .
ALGIERS — Several Egyptian members of the squad of militants that lay bloody siege to an Algerian gas complex last week also took part in the deadly attack on the United States Mission in Libya in September, a senior Algerian official said Tuesday.

The Egyptians involved in both attacks were killed by Algerian forces during the four-day ordeal that ended in the deaths of at least 38 hostages and 29 kidnappers, the official said. But three of the militants were captured alive, and one of them described the Egyptians’ role in both assaults under interrogation by the Algerian security services, the official said.

If confirmed, the link between two of the most brazen assaults in recent memory would reinforce the transborder character of the jihadist groups now striking across the Sahara. American officials have long warned that the region’s volatile mix of porous borders, turbulent states, weapons and ranks of fighters with similar ideologies creates a dangerous landscape in which extremists are trying to collaborate across vast distances.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is scheduled to testify before Congress on Wednesday about the Libyan attack that killed the American ambassador and three staff members, raised the specter of regional cooperation among extremists soon after the mission in Benghazi was overrun.

In particular, she said the Islamist militant takeover of northern Mali had created a “safe haven” for terrorists to “extend their reach” and work with other extremists in North Africa, “as we tragically saw in Benghazi,” though she offered no clear evidence of such ties.

Now the Algerians say the plot to seize the gas complex in the desert was hatched in northern Mali as well. Indeed, Mokhtar Belmokhtar, the veteran militant who has claimed overall responsibility for the siege, is believed to be based there.

But the Algerian official did not say why the captured kidnapper’s assertion — that some fighters had taken part in both the Benghazi and Algerian attacks — should be considered trustworthy. Nor did he say whether it was obtained under duress.

Instead, he focused on the chaos unleashed by the recent uprisings throughout the region, leaving large ungoverned areas where extremists can flourish.

“This is the result of the Arab Spring,” said the official said, who spoke on condition of anonymity because investigations into the hostage crisis were still under way. “I hope the Americans are conscious of this.”

I don't care for a lot of the things Rand is doing and saying these days, but his current political hyperbole aside, he has always been outspoken against Bush's wars as much if not more so than Obama's wars, making St. Louie's ridiculous comment dismissing the death of 4 people even more idiotic.

Ironically the bureaucracy will leave no stone unturned until they uncover the greedy power hungry corporate SOB's responsible and punish them.

Is our government that worthless that the boss isnt in charge of or even told anything?
On the contrary, I stated that they tried to make her look bad, as if they could personally derail any chances she has in 2016. She not only handled herself quite well, but her professional demeanor and knowledge of the facts made them appear petty and small. They've been waiting so long to hang this whole thing around her neck, you would have thought they might bring a few facts with them but, in keeping with their Grand Old Party style, they failed miserably.

Buck, why so bitter? Could it be that your nut-bag hero was exposed for the loony-bin ding dong he really is? Like I said, he didn't fall far from the tree. A few more hearings like today and he will eclipse daddy as king of the "beam me up" crowd.

    ....and still no answers.
But of course, "What difference does it make?"

(paraphrase)Despite repeated requests for additional security for several months....despite multiple warnings, including a brazen attack on the British ambassador...none of this came across the Sec of State's desk/attention....On the anniversary of Sept 11, one of the worst attacks in our history, in one of the hottest areas of the world, we did not have Dept of Defense forces available for over 7 hours. Two Americans died in that last hour...but not a single defense asset was available for a rescue.

What is it you really want? You want Obama impeached? You want Clinton charged with some kind of crime? I'm sure that will bring back the dead, won't it?

I want people to be aware. This thread was started on Sept 27th. It is now 4 months since the attack. McCain said it all. Americans deserve the truth.

Here's a question for you....Do you want Hillary as the next POTUS?.

I'd honestly just like to see Obama's transcripts from college. I honestly believe this guy took gym for all 4 years.
