Did the Obama administration lie about the embassy attacks?

HitsRusSusan Rice has ZERO credibility now on an international stage (which she doesn't really need at her present job). But in representing the United States as SOS, given her willingness and ability to parrot untrue talking points, she would not be able to sincerely sell the seriousness of a United States diplomatic policy or action to a foreign government. For that there is no one to blame but herself for allowing herself to be used(abused) by her superiors. She should be furious that they sent her out there to try to sell what they themselves would not own. They set her up. They sent her out there knowing full well what she was saying was not true.

gutBut, hey, it's all good bring on John Kerry.
Times like this when Obama's skill to lower the bar really shines thru. -
Manhattan Buckeye"Susan Rice has ZERO credibility now on an international stage (which she doesn't really need at her present job)."
The unfortunate reality is that she does. It would shock people from the U.S. how many people in (wonderfully educated - sarcasm alert) Europe and Asia believe anything and everything this incompetent administration and their media accomplices say - even after they retract their statements. No joke, just last week some Euro came up to my wife in the UK during a business meeting and asked what we were going to do about the Jew that made the video that caused the riots. What could she say? Not "my God you're an idiot!" She can't say that, all she said is that "you watch too much CNN my friend."
What StLouie's excuse is beyond me, there was a point where he/she was a reasonable voice from the Left now he/she is nuttier than Gibby. This was beyond incompetence and Rice had no business keeping her job, let alone get promoted.
I don't understand where StLouie is coming from, regardless of your political beliefs don't you expect quality from your government? You pay them, right? -

Well I'm likely to give a dem or pub a pass if they justifiably rely on CIA intelligence that the CIA composed, but may be misleading, when talking to David Gregory. However, I'd probably be concerned if they mislead Congress and the United Nations to start a completely unnecessary war.Manhattan Buckeye;1342462 wrote:It never ceases to amaze me how some people rationalize their nut-licking over a party (whether it is DEM or GOP). Notice how one of those scenarios lead a person to withdraw her name for Secretary of State. The worse scenario lead a person to get the job of Secretary of State. lol -

Would it matter that if the CIA said a flying spaghetti monster caused the attacks that Rice should parrot it? That was as likely as the ridiculous video report. At some point being a leader doesn't mean you blindly accept what is given to you...and that is assuming that this administration is being truthful about what she was given.BoatShoes;1342619 wrote:Well I'm likely to give a dem or pub a pass if they justifiably rely on CIA intelligence that the CIA composed, but may be misleading, when talking to David Gregory. Not really. -
jhay78Obama was still talking about the video 2 weeks later before the UN, when he knew it was instead a premedidated act of terrorism. He was not duped by the CIA talking points, he was advancing a narrative before the thugs and dictators of the world that free speech can be more dangerous than Al Qaeda.
It ain't all that far of a stretch to think that Susan Rice either willingly did the same, or was instructed to do so by her superiors, who knew full well they had the race/gender card ready to go in case anyone criticized her. -
BoatShoes
You must have missed where in his last speech on the world stage before his re-election he vigorously defended free speech and did not suggest in any way that what happened in Benghazi was not an act of Terror.jhay78;1342736 wrote:Obama was still talking about the video 2 weeks later before the UN, when he knew it was instead a premedidated act of terrorism. "The attacks on our civilians in Benghazi were attacks on America,""There should be no doubt that we will be relentless in tracking down the killers and bringing them to justice.""The strongest weapon against hateful speech is not repression it is more speech,""there is no speech that justifies mindless violence."
And, you can't see that even though he doesn't indicate in any real way that the attack on americans was because of the video he had to address it because the muslim world (surprise) was in an uproar about it.I know there are some who ask why we don't just ban such a video. The answer is enshrined in our laws: our Constitution protects the right to practice free speech. Here in the United States, countless publications provoke offense. Like me, the majority of Americans are Christian, and yet we do not ban blasphemy against our most sacred beliefs. Moreover, as President of our country, and Commander-in-Chief of our military, I accept that people are going to call me awful things every day, and I will always defend their right to do so]
He defended free speech and lambasted the attack on Americans. GMAFB!
You folks are above and beyond ridiculous on this issue. But pleasecarry on and continue to marginalize the conservative cause by beating this dead horse into submission. -
Manhattan BuckeyeGrief Boatshoes, you're posts get better by the minute.
I note that you don't even begin to address my point, as to how STUPID it was to even begin to blame the attacks on the video. Because you can't. Just deflect, turn the subject into something into what it wasn't, and continue on with nonsensical arguments. Nothing you have said has made any sense.
Why was the video even mentioned in the first place? -

To me you're pre-supposing it's stupid because that was your gut feeling...i.e. your citing of how your gut feeling about the Duke Lacrosse scandal. The CIA apparently felt there was some evidence that was the case. It didn't end up to be true. If it had been in some other universe, your intuition would have been wrong.
Muslims have killed people over a lot dumber things...drawings, sentences in books, etc. It wasn't as outrageous in the immediate aftermath as you're making it seem. -

I'll be happy to tell you where I'm coming from. I'm at a place where I'm sick and tired of all the partisan bickering and shit-slinging. Tired of politicians on both sides of the aisle engaging in "gotcha" politics rather than doing the work they were elected to. I'm tired of minority parties in Congress putting up roadblocks for all but the most insignificant pieces of proposed legislation. I'm tired of political fanaticism, be it from the left or the right, of a steadfast refusal of anyone in Congress to show even the slightest interest in the art of compromise. And it's not just Congress that makes me sick and tired. It's becoming impossible to have a meaningful, intelligent discourse on anything political without the name-calling, the blame-game and all of the insulting that goes with it. The sad thing is that I am as guilty of it as any of you, but I'm done with it. It's just not worth wasting my time.Manhattan Buckeye;1342541 wrote:"Susan Rice has ZERO credibility now on an international stage (which she doesn't really need at her present job)."

There are at least 18 sets of parents today who had their lives turned upside down because of a senseless act of violence and if any of you have children you'll understand how insignificant our political nonsense can be. I've had enough. -

That made absolutely no sense at all. What the heck does Benghazi (and Clinton's refusal to testify) have to do with Connecticut? The thread is about the utter failures of our foreign policy in Libya.stlouiedipalma;1343030 wrote:I'll be happy to tell you where I'm coming from. To the contrary, the report said the evacuation of the dead and wounded 12 hours after the initial attack was due to "exceptional U.S. government coordination and military response" that helped save the lives of two seriously wounded Americans. -

Just thought you might like to re-read the headline of the article you linked.[h=1]Systematic leadership failures led to inadequate security at Benghazi mission, report says[/h][h=5]Published: Wednesday, December 19, 2012, 5:30 AM Updated: Wednesday, December 19, 2012, 8:04[/h] -

The report absolves higher level administration officials including BHO and Hillary and people are not happy about that. It's really grinding the gears of the conservative pundits that this panel of experts just didn't come to conclusion playing out in their paranoid fantasies. :laugh:HitsRus;1347245 wrote:Just thought you might like to re-read the headline of the article you linked. -
