Only on ground for 40 minutes total. Two women injured, lost one helicopter with mechanical failure. Very secured compound, high walls and security.

Like someone said on the topic going on under Serious Business, that's like a Video Game Mission.

    Definitely SEALS

Global travel alert for all citizens warning of retaliatory attacks.

Great. My dad just traveled to Florida yesterday and will be flying back in a week. Everybody needs to remain vigilent.

These SEALS are awesome. Well they all are but these ones especially so.

I can't stop channel surfing. Back and forth between 4 or 5 channels.
    Another memorable moment in life!

Great shots of Ground Zero on CNN right now.

What he says in the media is meant to placate his people. A puddle of piss will quickly form at his feet the minute the last troop leaves. In fact I would guess Karzai is shitting his pants about right now. This may give the US the political victory it needs to leave Afghanistan.

"9/11 was the single most deadly attack on America. This death is the single most deadly attack on Osama Bin Laden."

Can you imagine the adrenaline rush for these SEALS, knowing their mission was to secure Bin Laden's body dead or alive. We could have dropped a 2,000 lb JDAM on the compound. Pieces of his flesh would never serve as proof of his death to the world. A wise decision to send in an elite team to secure his intact body.

    "Over the last 10 years,"
"Then, last August, after years of painstaking work by our intelligence community,"
"I've made clear, just as President Bush did shortly after 9/11, that our war is not against Islam. "
"After nearly 10 years of service, struggle, and sacrifice, we know well the costs of war."
"Tonight, we give thanks to the countless intelligence and counterterrorism professionals who've worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome. "

Yeah, sounds like he thinks he did it himself.

Based on the intelligence that Obama received he could have ordered the dropping of multiple 2,000 lb JDAMs on the compound (less risky) but would that would never yield 100% proof to the world of Bin Ladens demise. Whether the intelligence was right or wrong Obama risked a political disaster by placing boots on the ground deep in Pakistan. If anything were to go wrong it would mean dead or captured Americans deep inside Pakistan. The political fallout would have been devastating. Kudos to Obama for having the balls to take that risk and make the right decision and secure a big victory for America.

Now can we stop fondling Americans at our airports.

I'm glad too because if they bombed the shit out of it the conspiracy nuts would say that we didn't actually kill him (although they're already saying that now in what I pray are terrible jokes).

I was just thinking about this, and I'M NOT TRYING TO BE POLITICAL AT ALL!!!!

Do you think Obama produced his Birth Certificate earlier this week to get that out of the way because he knew that the day to launch this operation was nearing, and he didn't want some stupid bs to over shadow the monumentous event? I doubt if it would have happened, but how crappy would this be tomorrow or a few days after "Great job Mr. President, now about your birth certificate..."

No it isn't. Review your American history. It is a great night though. That is why I am celebrating.

Yeah, in all fairness is was hardly the slam-dunk decision some might make it out to be. It seems they pulled the trigger on a very strong hunch (not sure if facial recognition was used beforehand, most likely just to identify the body). Although, it also sounds like increasingly we've been doing this without telling Pakistan all that much. I do find it interesting that they are being fairly emphatic that Pakistan was not directly involved, while Pakistan seems to be saying otherwise. We may never know the real truth there. Pakistan could be saving face at home while distancing themselves from Al Qaeda repercussion with the US saying Pakistan wasn't involved. I find it odd that we would be so forthcoming about conducting clandestine operations in a sovereign country - lots of political angles to dissect there.
