Yeah, right. You aren't going to see this mentioned anywhere on the news expect maybe for Fox. -

We've had these types around for years, as in the cases of the Kennedys, King, Wallace, the attempts on Ford and Reagan. The difference here is that we now live in an age of instant news and more information than we can digest rationally. I do not believe that any rational person can make the incredulous assumption to link this act of senselessness to any political party or ideology. While we disagree on many issues, I believe in the goodness of us all to not resort to violence.
I stand by my earlier post, in that no rational person can make the assumption to link this to any political party or ideology.
As for the inflammatory rhetoric which seemingly permeates the internet and all cable news programs, I feel that it does need to be tempered to some degree. We see it here all the time. I'm guilty of saying offensive things, as are many of us, and I'm certain that there are other sites with much more offensive things being posted. For that I feel that the very nature of these sites is partially to blame, because of the relative anonymity of those posting. I would like to think that if we were all sitting around a table having a discussion the talk would be more civil. -

I am sure the federal perceiver will have "blood libel" in it list of criminal terms.
A. I thought there are already dubious "hate crime" laws on the books?
B. This also fits my politically correct re-write of our First Amendment:
In order to control and decrease the possibility of offending anyone's beliefs, Congress shall make a law abolishing the establishment of religion and prohibit the free exercise thereof; shall limit freedom of speech to politically-correct discourse as prescribed by Federal law, shall limit freedom of the press to Federally approved mainstream media; shall abolish the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and shall eliminate the right to petition the Government for a redress of grievances particularly grassroots Tea Party movements. -

The headlines aren't reporting it. Since the shooting those stations have blamed Palin, Limbaugh, etc....hell the fucking Sheriff even called Rush out by name. Those were the headlines for the last 3 days. Give me a break. Is no one responsible for their own actions anymore...and why not blame video games, why the "right"? Will there be apologies? Hell no, they got their shock headlines and thats all they care about. -
bases_loadedDems are using this tragedy by a crazy person to try and push bull shit legislation and don't be surprised if the main media stations start pushing the fairness doctrine as they push this interview to the side.

Three days late and very short on common sense -- the media, I mean.
They ran with this full tilt boogie, wanting to further demonize Palin and conservatives for what happened. They were just sure that had to be the case, so they molded all of their stories and commentary around it.
It was disgusting. Is disgusting. My former profession have lost their ethics and their souls to push a political point of view, and it sickens me to no end.
When this first happened, I immediately predicted it would turn out to be some guy off his medication or in need of meds who hadn't been appropriately diagnosed and treated. If I can see the obvious, why couldn't the members of the media at least take a look down THAT road before going off on their collective tangents?
Why? Because they don't have ethics, anymore. They simply don't care if they can damage publicly people and organizations with whom they disagree (i.e. anything or anyone that's conservative).
People who claim there is no media bias can't possible believe that after yet another clear example to the contrary. -

I'm glad no one has (yet) blamed video games for this. Anytime someone does on either side of the aisle I want to punch them in the throat a lot.bases_loaded;635987 wrote:The headlines aren't reporting it. But also that interview was on Good Morning America which is a pretty big headline. -
WriterbuckeyeGMA reaches a decent audience, but most Americans are off to work by the time their stuff airs.

If Rep. Robert Brady, D-Pennsylvania gets his way that part in bold would would be a federal crime. You would soon be raided by FBI agents who would confiscate your computer and hall you off for interrogation. Pray you don't have anything else on the hard drive. Next stop maybe the federal correctional center in Youngstown. -
Manhattan Buckeye"When this first happened, I immediately predicted it would turn out to be some guy off his medication or in need of meds who hadn't been appropriately diagnosed and treated."
I wouldn't go far to say immediately I predicted that, but when it was reported that he was 22 years old anyone with half a brain should have figured it out. How many 22 year olds go to tea parties? Or vote Republican? Or even care about politics?
The two worst offenders are the sheriff for pulling a complete rush to judgment, and Paul Krugman who not only started the "mainstream media" frenzy, but doubled down with more idiocy once the truth was revealed.
Dishonorable mention to Peter King (the SI writer, not the Congressman who deserves flack as well) for being so stupid to quote the sheriff's comments in his MMQB column with the token "it isn't political" hedge. He's correct. It wasn't political, just the opportunists made it political. -
believerI take comfort in the fact that more and more Americans are finally opening their eyes to the propaganda and largely leftist political bias that pervades the so-called "mainstream" media. The capitalization of this tragedy to point fingers at Palin, talk radio, etc. is a disgusting opportunistic reaction by the left at the results of the November election. There's no doubt in my mind about that.

ptown_trojans_1FWIW, there is the memorial service starting soon, in which state, local and federal officials, including the President will speak.

CenterBHSFanI don't have a problem with Palin using that term.
Obama: I see more people bitching about his politics and comparisons than I do about his sports, smoking, religion. Well, except Belly who likes to stir the pot so ya'll can nut up.
And the difference, duration, and scopes of the attacks are HEAVILY against Palin as compared to Obama. There's no way I can believe that any of us on this forum thinks it's comparable - with a straight face. No way.
You cannot compare unequal parts without some slight of hand and impossible math, sorry Charlie(s). -

ptown_trojans_1President is speaking, pretty good so far, going through the all the victims.
He also just said that Gabby, the Congresswoman just opened her eyes and looked around to see her husband for the first time since the shooting.
Great, great news. -

Yes and the media will not pass up this opportunity to demonstrate why "inflammatory right-wing rhetoric" caused this tragedy while ignoring the fact that it's the workings of one higjly sick individual and then will laud BHO for his every utterance.ptown_trojans_1;636184 wrote:FWIW, there is the memorial service starting soon, in which state, local and federal officials, including the President will speak. -

Yes, great news.
My impressions:
1. This is being treated as a pep rally for Obama, not a memorial service. Maybe I misunderstood the intention, but I've NEVER heard cheering and screaming for joy at memorial services...except for one....Paul Wellstone.
2. Nice speech, Obama, about the victims and the heros.
3. Speaking of heros, it would be REAL NICE if the press would focus on people like Daniel Hernandez, who saved Giffords' life. Or the 2 men that tackled the shooter. Or the Petite Patricia lady who took away Loughner's magazine. Let's hear about the HEROS and not Rush, Sean, Glenn, Sarah and every other NON-ISSUE in this story. I'd like to read much more about heros and less about murdering psychotics. -

Except the New York feed bumped it and the New York Times edited it out ...........
"Good Morning America in New York City was truncated today because of coverage of the snow bomb that went through there. I got a tip earlier today that one of the shooter's friends appeared on Good Morning America and said the kid, the shooter, never listened to talk radio. Well, now, I, Mr. Talk Radio, found that pretty interesting. So we tried to find it on the New York feed of Good Morning America, it wasn't there. So we got a transcript of the program, we found out that the kid did say it, the friend of the shooter did say it. We had to get it from the Cleveland feed, and if we weren't able to do that we were gonna get it on the West Coast feed."
"I want to play #3 again. Zach Osler this morning on Good Morning America -- and, by the way, the New York Times talked to the guy, too. I have to think the guy told the New York Times the same thing he said to Good Morning America. They edited it out. Again, Ashleigh Banfield asked (this is Zach Osler, one of the friends of the shooter), "What was his motive in Saturday's attack? What about all this speculation he may have been fueled by partisan politics and rhetoric in the media? "
OSLER: He did not watch TV. He disliked the news. He didn't listen to political radio. He didn't take sides. He wasn't on the left; he wasn't on the right."
As is generally the case, Rush is right .....http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_011211/content/01125106.guest.html .... and so is Palin.
The despicable acts from the left-stream media are a stunning embarrassment to this nation. -
pinstriperI'm kind of disapointed in this right now....maybe because I was expecting more of a President Reagan Challenger speech rather than a pep rally. I just don't get what's going on right now with this speech. Is it a eulogy, a pep rally, a memorial service, all of them. He did throw in the gun control, lack of mental health care political argument. I'm just confused. I was really hoping he'd come out and give a heartfelt 3 or 4 minute speech to pull this country together...guess not.

fish82This is the weirdest memorial service I've watched since Wellstone's...waiting for cheerleaders to run through with pompoms or something. Wrap this shit up, Bam, I want to see Paula Abdul.
