  Before you go throwing both sides down the shitter on this one, perhaps you should take a step back and look at how this all started. It wasn't conservatives who came out immediately and began trying to link this to political rhetoric. It's been liberals, one after another, who have tried to turn this into something it is not.
  
  Don't blame conservatives for defending themselves when they're being attacked by the media and public figures.

  I'm not blaming anyone. It is just amazing how each side is focusing on each other and not the real issue.

  What is appalling is that the left, and their media allies, always have to place blame on someone, or something, other than the perpetrator, as opposed to holding the individual accountable for his actions. Why is it always somebody else's fault when someone goes postal. Nowhere in our society is it acceptable to take another's life (with the exception of the abortion machine), so why does the left -- the party of 'no-personal-responsibility' -- continue to fail to hold individuals accountable for ALL their actions (or inactions), and try and blame others instead. Their failure to do so, and their failure to support swift capital punishment, is highly troubling, and perhaps contributory.

  The Sheriff boned this than as much as many of the New Orleans officials after Katrina. There was ZERO basis that this was politically motivated, yet he was the first to insinuate it was. What an assclown.

  I agree- it's been pretty civil for the most part (now that I've read all 6 pages). It's just interesting to read the first page (when the news was still fresh) and see how a few immediately made some sweeping over-generalizations.

  I agree. When I first read his comments a couple days ago, I cringed. It was exactly the wrong thing to say. He came across as someone with a political axe to grind and not as one of the leaders of an investigating agency.

  It won't matter. The media has decided this is related to the Tea Party and conservatives protesting against Obama. It makes a nice story line and also demonizes a group most media folks despise, anyway (see Palin Derangement Syndrome). There is an agenda here, folks, don't kid yourselves. It may not be organized in the traditional sense, but one after another, those who believe in liberal causes are picking up the drumbeat.
  
  The fact that the President has been guilty of some of the worst violence-tinged speech won't matter, either. They will protect him and continue doing what they can to make the Tea Party folks look like unhinged, violence-prone neanderthals.

No reason for anyone to try to gain points for their political party. (or I guess in this case demerits for their opponent.)

  I'm not blaming anyone -- just pointing out the hypocrisy of the whole situation. You've got Obama making these quips throughout his campaign and presidency, and the people who support him are the ones trying to make this into a political issue when it's not.
  
  There seems to be a problem for some folks discerning the difference between pointing out the obvious duplicity of the left in attempting to focus this incident as being related to hate speech and defending the folks who are being targeted (yes I used that on purpose) by the left.
  
  I've said all along (in fact was one of the first posters on here to say it) that this was a case of someone probably off his meds or in need of being diagnosed and medicated, and had no political motivations.
