If you "fact checked" every single person who said something you would find similiar or worse results. Beck is right way more than he is wrong.

This is true. I have been guilty of passing along information that I heard from other sources that turned out to be untrue. Does not mean my intent was to be deceptive. I don't believe Beck is intentionally being deceptive when he makes incorrect statements. But I do understand him being held to a higher standard than us individuals. He has a staff that is paid to research and validate what he says. I realize even a paid staff will not catch everything.

I wonder what the fact check on Obama would look like. Or for that matter any other politician. I would be far more concerned with a politicians fact check than Beck's. Beck has no power over me. But politicians do.

Check politifact.com. Obama is not always factual.

Similar to what any of the big news commentary shows do.

Partisan to what? He calls out Republicans on his show all the time. He considers himself not a dem or repub so what is he partisan too, tea party? The guy is a little loony, but his radio show is entertaining and he makes valid points. Also, just because websites have the name "fact" in it. doesn't make it so. Not saying this one does, but people are always like well fact check said blah blah, that doesn't mean it doesn't lean left or right either,

Not a fan of Beck, but good for him.

Read the descriptions of the factcheck/truth o meter ratings then. I haven't found one where I felt their reasoning wasn't solid for the rating (on truth o meter).

As for all you guys saying about fact checking different people. I was asked to provide specific instances of Beck saying things that were untrue. That's why I brought it into this.

And Beck is much further right than most Republicans. Also borderline insane. I negate pretty much any rational thought you say if you intermix it with silly baby voices or if you have to have a staff of chalk lackeys hand you everything. Same way where I discount pretty much anything Olbermann says even when he's occasionally being rational because he thinks using the most complex language he can makes him more intelligent.

This. These "fact checks" are in the eyes of the beholder. "Fact check" is by no means the god of facts that we all must bow to. I can discern the facts and truth on my own.

When you get clown stomped by the dumb asses on "The View," you're probably a joke.

Educated? How so? He had a nice little snooty rant, but didn't refute a single claim Limbaugh made about the car. Fail.

Because he is a blowhard who really has no idea about anything he talks about

Obviously I'm not a fan of Beck, but if he wants speak to folks and charge admission, that's his business. It doesn't matter whether all of the admission charges go to charity or to Beck's wallet. If people want to pony up the cost, it's their business and I don't think anyone should have a problem with it. It also doesn't matter to me what he has to say. Those who go are fans and want to hear him in person. It's no different than coughing up big bucks to see your favorite artist in concert.

I work in Wilmington & drive past new road construction each day that I'm pretty sure isn't being performed by local do-gooders. The project started before DHL pulled out to give trucks an easier route from I-71 to the air park. The government has ponied up to complete the project even after DHL pulled out. Plus they widened the streets in downtown Wilmington, which makes little sense if you're trying to divert truck traffic already. Wilmington isn't in nearly as bad of shape as some of the surrounding communities. Take a drive to Greenfield (my hometown) and you'll really see a town that is on its last legs, turning into a rural ghetto as property values decrease daily.

We don't need clowns like Beck making a spectacle of us nationally, as if we're the Tiny Tim's of the country. He's treating this trip like a flea market, urging his lemmings to buy merchandise locally as they pass through rubber-necking like it's a crime scene. Please. We need some Scrooge investors to put some of their own moldy-ass money into our communities instead of waiting for THEIR next government handout. We'll work for it honest, the way it's supposed to be done. All we need is an opportunity.
  • CenterBHSFan
Why wouldn't you want people, even Beck-tourists, to spend money in your town??? Makes no sense.

Beck tourists spending money in your town is nice and all. But that doesn't mean you have to like or support it when a dude comes to speak. Hell, KKK rallies draw people who spend money, doesn't mean the town should be thankful.

(I actually do think any money you'd get from Beck supporters would be great in a hurting town because obviously they're not even in the same ballpark as KKK folks. That was more of a philosophical disagreement with what you were saying than a practical one)

I still think Beck is bad for pretty much everyone. We need level-headedness now more than ever, both in defense of and in criticism of the administration/government/whathaveyou.
