New Security Screening "Procedures" At Airports.

How many Americans do you figure would be inside a mall or store on Black Friday? No TSA security to speak of, easy pickings for the terrorists. This idea that everyone getting on a plane has to be treated like a potential terrorist while we go about our daily lives with hundreds of opportunities for being killed in a terrorist attack is stupid. The TSA is in place to make the public feel safe, that's it. You have a greater chance of being killed driving to the store than in a terrorist attack, especially in an airport nowadays, but everyone keep on believing that these intrusions are for the greater good.

Every day I walk out my front door I'm taking a risk that I might die.

but you dont walk out the door and then stand in the middle of the highway. we try to eleminate or reduce obvious threats to our lives. The threat on airplanes has been shown beyond on all doubt.

    Give me a fucking break.

they are no more reactionary than putting metal detectors at government buildings. putting guards in front of military bases. there is an obvious threat, it is idiotic to ignore it.

Have you read the 4th Amendment to our Constitution? It goes something like this.... "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." Yet another right taken away by the federal government all in a feeble attempt to curtail terrorists that have already defeated us.

If the leaders of our country had the balls, they would use techniques SUCCESSFULLY used by the Israelis in defending their people. But...their way isn't politically correct, so we are screwed.

    Definitely.

It bothers me immensely that people are okay with this.

Our founding fathers were not fools and were always willing to take measures necessary to protect Americans. It may bother you immensely to see Americans protected from an obvious threat, but that is tough.

I am acqainted with the 4th Amendment. It in no way applies to this situation.

I question your statistics when we throw in the deaths of 3000 Americans killed because of failures in airport security.

3,000 Americans were killed in a terrorist attack that these scanners might have prevented. TEN YEARS AGO. Do you think the terrorists will be using box cutters the next time? They'll shove something up their ass and these scanners won't detect it.

nine years but of course counting is an overrated skill. 3 fucking thousand. more than any other slaughter of American civilians in our 234 year history. But why should we learn from this. Remember eleminating options our enemy's options for killing Americans is a good thing even if you are inconvenienced by having to go through a scanner. buff up a little and you will be less embarrassed.

    you took it out
damn it, I went back to prove it.

We all make mistakes spelling, counting, reasoning.

I'm embarassed that I have to make this point, but did the terrorists that killed three fucking thousand hide plastic explosives in their junk? Or with any explosives?

No one is carrying a boxcutter through security. Unless security is completely incompetent, which is another thread.

We aren't talking about walking through a metal dectector. We are talking about full nude scans and TSA workers touching the genital region of people that may or may not have agreed to the full body scan.

If nothing else, the TSA has done a piss poor job of explaining why this is helpful.

Maybe the terrorists had the box cutters tied to their dicks? These scanners would've prevented that!

So, isadore, when a terrorist blows up a plane with C4 that was shoved up his ass will you be cool with the cavity searches before flying? It's for our safety, who cares if it's uncomfortable!

    Obama weighs in:

    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=140813

    Highlights (or lowlights):

""I understand people's frustrations," Obama said, while acknowledging that he's never had to undergo the stepped-up screening methods."

That's one hell of a leader for us.

""One of the most frustrating aspects of this fight against terrorism is that it has created a whole security apparatus around us that causes huge inconvenience for all of us," Obama said."

Not if you fight it correcty.

Good lord, who the hell voted for this guy? If George W. Bush made such a comment he'd be up for impeachment.

So we should not adjust based on the newest know threat. Wow, now that is really suicidal attitude. Oh God they may see the outlines of our bodies. How horrible, how degrading. Bull, it is no big deal.
And you don’t get searched unless you refuse the scan.
And why it is helpful is obvious, less chance of another Lockerbie, another 9/11.

"And you don’t get searched unless you refuse the scan."

Wrongo pal, they can search you for whatever reason. If you refuse the scan, if the scan isn't conclusive, or if its random (as the AP article I posted mentioned).

and if they do, you would prefer that Americans would continue to die in untold numbers when they fly. A method would be found to protect us, and it would be used despite your opposition.

Yep, many years after the fact. All the while the terrorists will have devised a new plan to render the new "security" useless.
