New Security Screening "Procedures" At Airports.

Con_AlmaThe get training on how to search. They get paid to do so.
Sounds like the definition of a trained professional. -
LJtk421;555664 wrote:ha ha, trained professionals? These aren't RNs or doctors, these are minimum wage people performing these "searches".
They are paid on the GS scale. Your lowest wage workers are going to be GS-5's, a good amount above minimum wage.
In the Columbus market, a GS-5 makes 32k per year -

It's a matter of degree. McDonalds employees get training on how to make fries, but that doesn't make them a chef. We're at roughly the same level here, from what I've seen. -
stlouiedipalmaJesus, folks, if you don't like it, don't fly. I'll bet most of you bitch if the flight attendant puts too much ice in your cup. I've flown a hell of a lot since 9/11, been full body scanned, patted down and had carry on bags inspected thoroughly by hand. It's not that big of a deal. Get to the airport a little early. Once you get through security buy a newspaper, take a chill pill and relax.

I don't disagree but to state that are not trained professionals just isn't accurate which was what my response was to. -
Manhattan BuckeyeMaybe I'm not getting this.
Why can't we have a metal detector and canine crews at all domestic airports?
Metal detector will catch the knives, boxcutters etc....dogs will sniff out the rest.
I certainly trust a German Shepherd over the $10.00/hr guy groping me...or for that matter the $12.00/hr person viewing my body image. -

Some of you are slipin around here.....Fab4Runner;554793 wrote:I got patted down on Tuesday at the Tucson airport. First time ever....it was annoying but oh well.
I'll take this one.....
A) I doubt it was your first time!!
and
B) That was one LUCKY man! (or women..... if you want to go that way!)
-
jmogSo, your choice is to either have your junk seen/measured or have it groped? Nice...
My last set of flights was in October to/from Europe and they had these units but I was "lucky" enough to go through a regular metal detector line. -

In technical terms, you're right. In practical terms, you're mostly wrong. They're a bunch of goobers for the most part. -
tk421Why can't we have airport security like the Israelis do? They don't have to suffer the humiliation of being groped and treated like criminals just for going to the airport. When's the last time someone flew an Israeli plane into a building?

wkfanI'm really not sure why this is such a big deal.......
Noting to hide...no worries. -

http://www.vancouversun.com/travel/Full+body+scanners+waste+money+Israeli+expert+says/2941610/story.htmlA leading Israeli airport security expert says the Canadian government has wasted millions of dollars to install "useless" imaging machines at airports across the country.
"I don't know why everybody is running to buy these expensive and useless machines. I can overcome the body scanners with enough explosives to bring down a Boeing 747," Rafi Sela told parliamentarians probing the state of aviation safety in Canada.
"That's why we haven't put them in our airport," Sela said, referring to Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion International Airport, which has some of the toughest security in the world.
Sela, former chief security officer of the Israel Airport Authority and a 30-year veteran in airport security and defence technology, helped design the security at Ben Gurion. -

I hate that fucking excuse. That's a bullshit argument and you know it. Let's play a little game here. Follow along and see if it's still ok later.
1. Someone tries to sneak explosives onto a plane in their shoes. Everyone must now take off their shoes.
2. Someone tries to sneak explosives onto a plane in their underwear. We now have the searches where they physically touch your genitals and breasts for the women.
3. Someone will eventually try/succeed in sneaking explosives onto a plane in one of their body cavities. Don't think it won't happen? They don't search there currently. Result: TSA now makes cavity searches mandatory.
Still okay? Nothing to hide after all, please bend over and spread em. Don't think it won't happen, either. It's the next logical step, TSA is completely reactionary. -
tk421For those of you "I have nothing to hide, it's ok with me" people, I have a book I'd like you all to buy and read to your kids before flying. After all, they have nothing to hide either, it should be ok with them. We can't possible have profiling because "You don't think terrorists are smart enough to start using white people and children to blow up planes?" Better start getting them used to it, I guess.

Belly35Can we start the search with PROFILING?
Search only those that match the PROFILING of a terrorist... -

Thanks. I thought I got that technically right...after all that's the part I was focusing on.
It is possible to be a trained professional who is a goober. I see 'em more often than I would like out there in the world. ...Goober for sure but dag gone it a trained professional while still being a goober. -

CAIR, the Council on Arab-Islamic Relations, has issued statements that muslims should not be subject to the TSA grope. It will be interesting to see if Big Sis grants them what they are asking. Therefore, the extremeists could more easily board a plane because they don't have to be treated to the same civil rights abuses that the rest of us have to endure if we happen to want to fly somewhere. By the way...where in the hell is the ACLU??? Isn't this whole issue a civil liberties issue? You know...government agents can check anyone's package because they feel the need. If there was ever a doubt in anyone's mind that the ACLU is a liberal/Progressive organization, their silence and inaction is screaming it from the teleprompter. -

Completely agree. A hound's scent is far more effective than the video evidence. All I see is a dude's junk. A non-trained hound can sniff their owner at 50 yards, and can hear them at 200 yards., I can't believe that we can't train dogs to sniff out a potential plane terrorist. -

We can. We use the dogs to find the types of explosive these scans are meant to find all the time in police and military work. The dogs are actually the first thing they use as they're the most effective at locating it. I have no idea why we can't use them here too.Manhattan Buckeye;561955 wrote:Completely agree. Kids like dogs. Kids don't like being touched by strangers. -

All about the pedophiles. This is the perfect excuse to scan little kids. A sick society we live in, I pray daily for the Lord to restore our nation.tk421;554394 wrote:http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40136368/ns/travel-news/?GT1=43001
Now, I've only flown once in my life and it was before 9/11, so I don't have any personal experience with this, but I figured there would be a lot of people here who do. This kind of stuff drives me nuts, that the TSA does this and gets away with it.
What exactly happened to the 4th Amendment of the Constitution that provides protection against unreasonable searches? So, because of terrorists and to promote "safety" (what a fucking crock), the TSA has to either take a naked scan of your person or pat you down, no matter who you are or what your age is. This is the biggest horseshit I've ever heard.
We have TSA agents patting down pilots on the airlines? What the hell for? Children either have to be seen nude or be pat down? Not that I'm ever going to have to travel, but if I did I wouldn't be flying at all. This crap is ridiculous. See what happens when people give up liberties for "safety". It's a huge slippery slope that we're almost to the bottom. What's next, getting issued a standard flight robe that everyone has to get naked and change into? -

Many of us are use to the occasional wet dog nose in the groin or ass sniffing so using a dogs is a good option something we can relate to as normal ...... -

If you really want the ACLU involved, carry a Bible through one of those checkpoints and "offend" someone. They'll jump all over that.
