It is looking like those 2 seats may be the difference between Democrats retaining control and Mitch McConnell being majority leader with all the power that comes with it.

    I am not a RINO lover, but better to be in the majority and deal with a RINO or 2 than be stuck in the minority where you don't control the agenda or committees.

    Dingey Harry was like 20 points down to a generic nominee to start the year. Anyone with a pulse should have beaten him. Angle was just so out there that she grabbed defeat from the jaws of victory and it is frustrating to see him marching back to the Senate like he deserves it.

    I didn't say he wants babies to eat lead paint. It's just that I think that a dogmatic devotion to pretty much any principle isn't very wise.

Paul says at the Harlan Center, in response to a question about the Big Branch disaster. "The bottom line is I'm not an expert, so don't give me the power in Washington to be making rules. You live here, and you have to work in the mines. You'd try to make good rules to protect your people here. If you don't, I'm thinking that no one will apply for those jobs."

    You cannot be against mining safety regulations and not be insane. When there are stockholders or a profit motive/incentive it's too easy to throw safety out the door. Sometimes regulations from outside the town/business/industry are needed.

    So be it. I will no longer be voting for the half assed candidate. One step at a time. I am not a citizen of Nevada so I have no say in the matter. I doubt Reid remains majority leader in the senate. The democrats will put something worse in that position. Maybe the pompous ass Chuck U Schumer.

    Good luck to the citizens of Nevada. I am sure Reid can shave of some pork for them in a deal to give up his claim on majority leadership. The time is soon coming where soon coming where some states just need to file for divorce.

    So now Rand Paul is ok with miners being killed in cave ins. Rand Paul is not against regulation. He just prefers it be governed by those closest to the issue. How is that insane? Just because someone advocates a different level of governance does not make them insane. The federal government does not have a perfect tract record either when it comes to regulation of industry. Does that make you insane?

    He and Dick Durbin will probably battle it out, even though it is probably a temporary position until the remaining Democrats are washed out of power in 2012 (as many who were elected in the 06 wave will be prime targets).

    If anyone wants to see something comical, go over the the Daily Kos where the liberals who had convinced themselves before today the polls were wrong and it wouldn't be that bad are nearly suicidal right now that reality is here.

    I just saw this and my jaw dropped.

    How in the world did Charley Rangle manage to retain his seat? Is it ingrained in New Yorkers DNA that corruption and general disregard for the rule of law is OK that this guy is re-elected even after all the stuff that has come out about him?

    Just got in from work and I must say I'm not surprised by what I've seen all over the country. This had been predicted by many in the media for some time.

    Congratulations to all who won seats tonight. Now the hard part begins. This Congress is going to be responsible for making the difficult decisions that will shape the direction of the country. Those in the House have only 2 years to show results or they are out next time. The Senators get a little longer but they, too, need to step up and do their duty.

    Regardless of all our beliefs/stances on the issues, it is important that we get involved and make ALL elected officials accountable. They are our public servants (got that, Belly?) and they are elected to serve and to govern. Let's hope they realize this and do just that.

    Yes they are going nuts. On a side not my typing failed me. That would be the pompous ass Chuck U Schumer. Durbin or Schumer are far more partisan and arrogant than Dingey Harry.

    Hard to believe but true. If Schumer is selected as Senate Majority Leader (or Durbin for that matter) Reid is going to look like a conservative in comparison.

    If Schumer does become SML you can be sure this arrogant, pompous ass will NOT be the first to reach across the aisle. That might be a good thing since it is very very apparent the electorate is fed up with this type of partisan bullshit.

    FWIW MSNBC was unbearable last night. At least Fox didn't have Hannity, Beck and O'Reilly up there all night. That's essentially what MSNBC did with all of their talking heads. Nonetheless, I'm sure it's CNN who lost out on the ratings battle as they have boring ass Wolf Blitzer reading off a screen and holding a legal pad...
