Disgusted With Obama Administration.

    Private property should never be seized and given to a private company, especially a foreign company. Obama should block it, although he is doing it for the wrong reasons. He doesn't give a fuck about anyone's property rights.

    The job cuts will reduce annual pretax operating costs by more than $100 million beginning in 2013, when the medical-device excise tax is scheduled to take effect, Stryker said Thursday in a statement. Stryker had more than 20,000 employees as of Dec. 31, according to Bloomberg News data.
    Stryker expects to record $85 million to $95 million of the expense in the fourth quarter of 2011."

    Taxes aren't normally a justifiable reason for cutting jobs. Companies are always looking for efficiencies and likely would make those cuts regardless of the tax increase or not. Where it has an impact is where companies have the ability they will pass the tax increase onto their customers. Now where taxes do hurt is in investment - it raised the ROI required vs investment alternatives that aren't impacted by that tax increase. And that's how the govt helps/hurts (rather ineptly) the flows of capital to different sectors via tax policy.

    For a large percentage, joint replacements are considered elective type surgeries. I'm certain there are also minimal healthcare plans that don't cover joint replacements unless they are life-threatening. You are correct in that they would pass the tax along with their cost of the parts. This is the problem to which the article and 'Oats are referencing.

    In essence, the reason they are cutting back now is that they see less demand for their products. They are making an economic observation (and subsequent decision) that their market share will shrink as they anticipate less joint replacements upcoming. Why are they anticipating less demand?....ObamaKare's tax. Typical Statist horseshit: They don't believe changing the tax code will affect market behaviors.

    For an old example, remember the vaunted "Luxury Tax", that was designed to make millionaires pay for their largesse when they purchase diamonds, yachts, and the like? The Statists thought it was a winner in the class-warfare game. What happened there? Did the millionaires just pony-up the extra taxes? Or did they find other ways of getting their material possessions through foreign purchasers? What happened to the employment of yacht-builders in the good 'ol USA? Did the tax therefore create growth in the USA and spur job creation...or, as always with Statist's tax schemes, did it have the exact OPPPOSITE effect and reduced growth and chased jobs overseas?

    Next thing ya know, these elitist wizards will find a way to tax Christmas trees....

    Well I apologize for not arriving at your beckon call. I'm not sure why you would think I would suggest this is a good thing. Seems to me this is just more evidence for getting the money out of politics. A no-bid contract to a campaign donor for a drug aimed to help prevent the spread of smallpox in the event of the non-existent threat of a biological warfare attack with smallpox. We landed on the moon!

    I mean I don't know I think it's pretty clear I'm not an Obama apologist. He's a man just like us and the liberals who put him up on a pedestal made the same mistake Penn State fans did with Paterno and I did with Jim Tressel.

    Obama is going to campaign for President this year with a billion dollar war chest. It is naive to think that there's not going to be political favors even for the "annointed one." At least, as far as I can tell, even considering the seduction by Obama, liberals are aware of this and propose ways to try to stop it.

    It's not like most liberals want it to be "Do as I say not as I do." It's more of a general awareness that the flawed nature of man kind leaves even our most virtuous susceptible to be corrupted by the enticements of vice. So, if a liberal comes along and says "we need to publicly fund elections so that way our public officials don't just give handouts to their cronies" and then that liberal raises a ton of special interest money in a world wherein public funding is miniscule, it should come as no surprise that this liberal succumbs to the threat he warns about.

He would not succumb to cronyism and paying off donors. He said these things. The media got tingles up their legs. He even said he was the one we were waiting for.     I've got an answer to stop it all, but it causes those that love the cronyism, "sausage making", and Cornhusker-kickback backers, to vomit. It's called term-limits.

    I think he's been very transparent - now everybody knows he's a socialist and incompetent, not just the "racist haters" who were warning everyone about this before the election.

    3. When errors are found, have the King rewrite the legislation via the IRS, which can't be sued and is therefore bulletproof.
    4. Ignore Congress, after all, it isn't controlled by the King's minions anymore.
    5. Fvck the original Constitution; who needs that old fuddy-duddy outdated parchment anyways? It's nice to look at in the Smithsonian, but it's just no longer valid in today's society.
