Yet, if the Bush tax cuts for everyone were to expire those people you decry for paying "zero" would pay federal income taxes and the deficit would be nearly closed according to the CBO and you complain about how awful that tax increase would be.QuakerOats;903181 wrote:That's funny .... who was polled, the 50% who pay zero/nothing/nada
You can't have it both ways. You can't complain about the 50% of people who pay nothing when many of those people are middle class americans and then also repudiate policy proposals that would ensure that they paid federal income taxes. You can't complain that middle class americans pay no federal income tax and then also complain about them possibly paying some income taxes. The national median income is $44,389 and families earning up to $60,000 can easily eliminate any federal income tax burden. -

Everyone should have some skin in the game --- at least $100 if nothing else to go toward their nation's defense. However, to go off the deep end and raise marginal rates on the groups that are paying the full load already is not the way to go, especially when you have ZERO control on federal spending.BoatShoes;903250 wrote:Yet, if the Bush tax cuts for everyone were to expire those people you decry for paying "zero" would pay federal income taxes and the deficit would be nearly closed according to the CBO and you complain about how awful that tax increase would be.

It is unfathomable that obama would deficit-spend trillions of dollars, and then effectively blame the taxpayers for not paying enough ---- absolute insanity ..... make that, theft. -
BGFalcons82If you think Obama isn't trying to ruin the economy so that he can make it into his Western Socialist image, then why appoint a...ahem...you can't make this shit up...drumroll....Infrasctructure Czar???
http://townhall.com/columnists/luritadoan/2011/09/19/obama_proposes_new_czar/page/full/
Here's the salient point -
"Make no mistake: the AIFA Czar position is redundant. All of the infrastructure projects and tasks identified to be performed by Obama’s new Czar are already the responsibilities of the Senate-confirmed heads of Department of Transportation, the U.S. General Services Administration and the Department of Energy."
Hmm...attempting to circumvent the Constitution is he? Or is he attempting to re-write the laws of the land in order to get pet projects moving, like he did with Solyndra? Oh, I forgot...he has the best of intentions and wouldn't dare do anything dumb, like say give $537,000,000 to a bankrupt green energy company, would he?
2 choices: He's either the most ignorant arrogant dolt of a President in the history of the country OR he knows exactly what he's doing TO the country not FOR the country. There can't be any gray area left after 30 months of his redistributing. -
QuakerOatsToday's arrogant claim by obama on the property of Americans to the tune of an additional $1.5 trillion (in 'taxes') is simply stunning. It is an overt redistribution of wealth from one group of people to his favorite community organizations: public sector unions and welfare recipients ............Let's just cut to the chase.
Change we can believe in ..... -

OK .... How about this list and the relationship to Obama: what does this make Obama?
Barack Hussein Obama Sr. – Barack's father was an African socialist.
Stanley Ann Dunham – Barack's mother was a 60's liberal feminist and an atheist – all the makings of a rebellious, 60's-era, left-wing radical.
Frank Marshall Davis – "Frank," as Barack Obama refers to him in his book, Dreams From My Father, was a member of the Communist Party (USA).
Saul Alinsky – Mr. Alinsky was an avid and open socialist and the king of social activism, commonly called the "father of community organizing." Saul Alinsky's son, Lee David Alinsky, recently praised Obama on his ability to perform Saul's tactics, saying that Barack "learned his lesson well."
John L. McKnight –McKnight taught Barack about community organizing while they were both working with the Gamaliel Foundation – a Saul Alinsky production.
Reverend Jeremiah Wright – "Uncle J" was Barack's former pastor and mentor at Trinity United Church of Christ. The philosophy of the Church is based on the teachings of James Cone's black liberation theology. Cone admits that his theology is a mix of "black religion and Marxist philosophy."
Father Michael Pfleger –He has received hundreds of thousands of dollars in earmarks and foundation grants from Obama and has contributed to Barack's multiple political campaigns. Father Pfleger spews fiery racial sermons and gives his support and admiration to Louis Farrakhan. According to Wright's Trumpet magazine, Pfleger also claims he "got very educated by the Black]Panthers
William Ayers – Mr. Ayers is an unrepentant domestic terrorist and an anti-capitalist. He was a leader of the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) in the 1960's and one of the militant spin-offs, the terrorist Weather Underground organization. These organizations were comprised of communist ("small 'c'") and anti-capitalist
Bernardine Dohrn – She is the wife of Bill Ayers and a former radical herself. Dohrn was the leader of the Revolutionary Youth Movement of the SDS and the Weather Underground. She was also a signatory of the Weather Underground's "Declaration of War" against the United States. She was a communist (Marxist-Leninist)
Mike Klonsky – He was a Maoist, a former SDS national chairman (1968), and formed the "October League" when the SDS broke into several factions. The October League later became the Beijing-recognized U.S. Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist), of which Klonsky became a leader in the 70's
Marilyn Katz – She oversaw security for the SDS, where she met Ayers. She was part of the Committee of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, which organized the 2002 anti-war speech in Chicago where Barack Obama famously spoke out against the Iraq War.
Carl Davidson – He was a former leader of the SDS and a Maoist, like Klonsky. He was also one of the organizers for the 2002 anti-war speech..
Bill Fletcher – As mentioned, he was a 60's radical (a Maoist) and is one of the creators of the Progressives for Obama website.
Cornel West – Mr. West defines his political ideology as "non-Marxist socialist." He is an anti-capitalist and honorary chair of the Democratic Socialists of America.
Alice Palmer – She is a former executive board member of the U.S. Peace Council (a communist front group), which is an affiliate of the World Peace Council (a Soviet front group).
Antoin "Tony" Rezko –Barack has obtained millions of dollars in grants for Rezko to build inner-city housing. Tony Rezko was recently convicted of several felonies involving corruption and kickbacks to
Rashid Khalidi – Mr. Khalidi is a Palestinian political activist and a professor at Columbia University. For six years in Beirut, he was the director of WAFA, the official Palestinian press agency where his wife had also worked as chief editor of the English section. Mr. Khalidi has also worked with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) during the height of its terrorist campaigns in the Middle East.
Robert Malley – This former "informal" foreign policy advisor to the Obama campaign resigned in May 2008 due to allegations that he was meeting with members of the terrorist organization, Hamas.
Hugo Chavez – Venezuelan dictator
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – President of Iran
Party of European Socialists
Louis Farrakhan – Supreme Minister, Nation of Islam
Democratic Socialists of America
Communist Party USA (CPUSA)
Frank Chapman – Member of U.S. Peace Council Executive Committee (an FBI-identified communist front group)
Mark Solomon – National co-chair, Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism
Joel Wendland – Managing editor of CPUSA online magazine Political Affairs: Marxist Thought Online
Pepe Lozano – Leader in the Chicago Youth Communist League and editorial board member of CPUSA newspaper, People's World Weekly -

2.ARe you saying Obama had/has personal relationships with those three men? I think you're being funny but if not you're mischaracterizing anything I've ever said on the matter. All I've ever said was Barack Obama is NOT a radical leftist at least in the manner in which he has governed. To demonstrate I've compared his record to previous republican presidents. His new proposal for deficit reduction is more conservative than the average american and his jobs plan is not liberal by any stretch of the imagination...I mean for heaven sake he wants to cut spending or raise other taxes to pay for his tax cutting jobs proposal...something which will hurt any stimulative effect in the short run and is more conservative and more in line with classical economics than any Republican president since Eisenhower. Imagine if the Republicans would have been so frugal when they cut tax revenue in 2001? Nevermind that it is a mistake to be concerned about short term deficit reduction at all as austerity is killing us and Europe right now.BGFalcons82;903408 wrote:According to some, Obama is the 2nd coming of Reagan, so all of those folks you listed must be Adam Smith-reading, William F. Sure it's not Bachmann style conservatism which is devoid from any foundation in textbook economics but what you guys are failing to grasp is that just because what he has proposed is not absolutely ayn rand style fundamentalism does not make it de facto radical liberalism. I mean it's a political spectrum and you are way out in right field...way moreso than the average American and people in left field are annoyed with Obama because they say he is too far in your direction.
Every Republican Presidential Candidate's stated positions with the exception of maybe John Huntsman are much more conservative than most Americans and more so than Ronald Reagan ever acted as President. The new Republican Consensus is much farther to the right than William F. Buckley and even Milton Friedman who fervently fought against the kind of Austrian hard money "hangover theories" gaining traction which are about as worthwhile as the phlogiston theory of fire.
But really this debate isn't worth having again as nothing short of a revelation from God would convince you that BHO isn't out to turn America into a Communist Country. -
BGFalcons82Yeah, Boat, I was jerkin your chain a little.
I think we have a word definition problem, you and I. Many times, you interchange "Republican" with "conservative". You refer to Republican Presidents as all being from the conservative side or having said leanings. This is a fallacy. Conservatism is not about redistributing wealth. It is not about stimulus as the first course of economic correction. It is not about the federal government "creating jobs". It is not about spending people's money that does not exist. It is not about generational theft. It is not about a government solution to every problem/malady/sniffly nose. It is not about raising taxes.
It is about unleashing the Amedican spirit to allow people to be the best they can be. For example, I heard Kurt Ziebart passed away recently. He came to America for the promise of freedom and made a fortune with skill, hard work and determination to be the best. I can't post links from this phone, but I will when I get a chance - http://articles.boston.com/2011-09-16/news/30165720_1_proofing-rust-auto
