ThanksRefman wrote: SECTION 28 TECHNICAL VIOLATIONS
ART. 1 . . . There are six types of technical violations. Each is penalized without
warning as outlined in Rule 7-3:
a. Intentionally going out of the wrestling area or forcing an opponent out of
the wrestling area.
b. Grasping of clothing, mat or ear guards.
Also....from the NFHS signal chart...#17 is for either...locking hands OR grasping clothing. (Which includes ear guards, as in above)
Also...from the casebook:
7.3.2 SITUATION A: From the starting position on the mat, Wrestler B attempts
a power switch. In order to counter, Wrestler A grasps the clothing of B preventing
a reversal. RULING: As soon as the referee notices the grasped clothing, a
locked hands signal to indicate there is a violation shall be given. Grasping clothing
to gain or prevent an escape, reversal, takedown or fall is a technical violation.
If the reversal were unsuccessful, the referee will stop the match and award one
point to B for the technical violation. If B is successful in completing an escape
or reversal, the point(s) would be awarded for that maneuver in addition to the
points earned for the technical violation, and the match would not be stopped.
The grasping of clothing, mat or ear guards is prohibited and any advantage
gained thereby is nullified. COMMENT: If there is grasping of clothing in a pinning
situation penalty points will also be awarded in addition to any near-fall points
earned. (8-1-2)
I can understand your frustration with a 12 min lag. Why 12 minutes...I have no clue. But...like you said...in the end...they got it right.
Hope this helps.
Edit: Is there a site that details the process to become a ref or do you just get kidnapped at night if you're selected? -
nextplay:-/ after reading 4 pages of refs complaining i have only one solution to about a ton of peoples complaints. the tapper should not be a kid but i do not think they should hire an extra ref to be the tapper/ 3rd ref. This is how it should go, the 2nd ref should watch the clock when he sees the tapper coming and when it hits 0 on the clock he blows his whistle right away. This way there is no last second calls blown just cause the kid hit the ref to late. Also parents need to stop complaining to the refs and getting all mad you will not overturn the ref and half of you parents does not even know all the rules so just sit down and smile prety because if you get mad youll just inoy the ref.

This is the future folks. No more bitching about calls, and hardcore wrestling parents being assholes. Peace is coming to the mat. Just wait. I told you so.

YES!!! Why a tapper period!? Why not have someone...ANYONE... count down from seven or six and YELL IT to the ref??? Do you honeslty think that a ref won't hear a person yelling from 5 feet away for six or seven seconds.nextplay wrote: :-/ after reading 4 pages of refs complaining i have only one solution to about a ton of peoples complaints. the tapper should not be a kid but i do not think they should hire an extra ref to be the tapper/ 3rd ref. No need to try to master the art of trying to tap AND watch the clock at the same time. JUST YELL IT to the ref.
Keep the ref and the action between you and the clock and YELL IT!!!!!!
Just saying... -
chichiHeath -officials DQ a wrestler for not haviing a bottom mouth piece, but parent paid for dentist to design a mouth piece so wrestler can breathe better. wrestler competed all year without a problem even at sectionals, winning a consolation round 6-2,at end of 2nd period official says its illegal and have 2 min. to get one. they DQ the wrestler wich had a good chance to place. Equipment rules need to be changed-it isn't the 60's anymore and equipment has changed for the better, these refs are not qualified to determine safe mouth guards, the dentist that designed the mouth guard designed it to protect both upper and bottom braces-Ref making a big deal about it,tried to make look as if it was all about him-same ref all day giving pts. for shoes not being taped-never heard of that either-these are calls that should not have happened.
To all refs-LET WRESTLERS WRESTLE THE MATCH FOR OUTCOME_THESE KIDS WORK HARD ALL YEAR FOR THIS MOMENT_IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU -
romulushang_loose the only problem i see with your robot ref is he seems to smoke quite a lot. lol

Ummm, mouth gaurds are not required. If the official had a hard time with it why not just take it out give it to the coach and go on with the match? Also, did the kid show the mouth gaurd to the officials at weigh-ins?chichi wrote: Heath -officials DQ a wrestler for not haviing a bottom mouth piece, but parent paid for dentist to design a mouth piece so wrestler can breathe better. wrestler competed all year without a problem even at sectionals, winning a consolation round 6-2,at end of 2nd period official says its illegal and have 2 min. to get one. they DQ the wrestler wich had a good chance to place. -

cruiser_96We were wrestling a kid once and halfway through the match I noticed the opponent didn't have a mouthpiece covering his bottom braces. I pointed it out to the ref, to which he said, "Start injury time."
The coach of the opposing wrestler looked up to his team and screamed for the med kid. The boys brought it down, got a mouth piece for the top portion of the mouth, turned it upside down and shoved it in.
The ref looked at me like, well, he has one now. I said he sure does. I tipped my hat to the other coaches and said well done. -
USMCdevil05My thing about the whole mouth piece is, the guys on my team who need one will weaar one. If there is a kid from another team and he wants to not wear a mouth piece when he has braces! Then you be my guest and get all cut up pal! I used to wrestle guys with braces in high school before they required your mouth piece and these guys would cut up they inside of their mouths almost like it was eating glass!
-
USMCdevil05Cruiser your next post is 6 6 6! Oh no! You better post 2 really quick! Im kind of supersticious dude! I was the guy who always had to take a shower before the finals match because it was a ritual! Our whole team was like that! lol

CaptJackTurk182,
What does the word "antagonize" have to do with the match in question?
an·tag·o·nize
? ?/æn?tæg??na?z/ Show Spelled [an-tag-uh-nahyz] Show IPA verb,-nized, -niz·ing.
–verb (used with object)
1.
to make hostile or unfriendly; make an enemy or antagonist of: His speech antagonized many voters.
2.
to act in opposition to; oppose.
I would say this is self-explanatory and a much less offensive description. The rule book is pretty clear on this: "...indicating displeasure with a call,..."
I came here because it was free also, no problem there.
You had a message, I don't agree with it, but I got it.
Now because I don't agree with it, I get this.
"Are you mental or something?"
I will take that as a compliment!
Blink182 is good also, got 'em in my iPod.
have a good day, see you all at the State Tournament tomorrow. Woohoo
