How about an all-time Central district roster thread?

  • ksig489
OK...all time central district team...lets say for sake of argument that the wrestler had to graduate from a central district school. Fit those old guys into current weights as best as you can.

**UPDATE** Thread is starting to die down a little...I guess from hearing the discussion, this is the team I would put on the mat.

    103 - Jamey Kasser (Licking Heights) x/2/1/1
    112 - Mark Zimmer (DeSales) 1/1/1/1
    119 - Mark Marinelli (DeSales) ?/?/1/1
    125 - Adam Disabato (Bishop Ready) 5/3/1/1
    130 - Rob Johnson (Watkins Memorial) ?/2/1/1
    135 - Dominic Disabato (Bishop Ready) 2/1/1/1
    140 - Ken Ramsey (Fisher Catholic/Bishop Ready) 1/1/1/1
    145 - Scott Duncan (Marion Pleasant) ?/?/1/1
    152 - Jed Moore (Mt. Vernon/Marion Pleasant) q/2/1/1
    160 - Anthony Ciraky (Westerville South) ?/2/1/1
    171 - Josh Demas (Marion Pleasant/Westerville North) 2/3/1/?
    189 - Rex Holman (Upper Arlington) ?/4/1/1
    215 - Tommy Rowlands (Bishop Ready)?/?/1/1
    285 - Luke Fickell (DeSales) x/1/1/1

    What do you think?

Adam DiSabito is your 125, Dom your 135. Maybe 2xer Mario Marinelli at 130? The battle at 140 is a good one between 4Xer Ramsey and 3xer Keaton Anderson. I'd go with Anderson. You'd almost want to take Zimmer as a 112-pound junior, that way you could slide in Mark Marinelli at 119. What he did to 2X champ Dan Donovan on the way to the finals that year was incredible. That gets us from 103 to 140, but it gets a little blurry from there. I think you can pencil in Demas at 171, and the last three weights are easy with Holman at 189, Rowlands at 215 and Fickell at heavyweight. 145, 152, and 160 are tough. You'd think that Anthony Ciraky would be in there somewhere. 2nd (to Schlatter) and then a 2X champ in DI at 152 and 160. Meybe Joel Walker?

    103-
    112- Mark Zimmer
    119- Mark Marinelli
    125- Adam DiSabato
130- Mario Marinelli (?); Any chance Josh Horne, TJ Enright or even Tommy Cunningham have a shot here?
    135- Dominic DiSabato
    140- Keaton Anderson/Ken Ramsey Jr.
    145-
    152-
    160- Anthony Ciraky
    171- Josh Demas
    189- Rex Holman
215- Tommy Rowlands, although a case could be made for Nick Preston Here, right? And remember! I'm the one with the MASSIVE man-crush on Tommy!
    285- Luke Fickell

Two holes; 145 and 152, but the list is shaping up nicely.

Wow...I didnt realize Dom finished that heavy.

Kasser is the 103...2xChamp, and a runner up (112 as a senior)

I also threw in Rex Henderson as a 152 due to being a 3xFinalist (1 title)

Maybe I am biased, but Keaton wouldnt beat Kenny. The level of physicality that Kenny brought to the mat was insane.

No love for Ross from you two? What did he wrestle as a senior?
  • Bitterrunner-up
Ksig...I've got Kasser going 2nd, 1st, 1st, not the other way around. Am I wrong on that? Regarding Thatcher, he won titles at 152 (so he would be in the runnering there) and 171, and then obviously finished runner-up at 171 his senior season. Maybe he should be considered more.

Cruiser...I think Kasser at 103 is pretty clear cut. in '81 he was a junior 105-pound State champion, winning 20-0 in the finals. But he was a sophomore 98-pounder the year before and lost in the finals to Bill Adkins 15-4. Bill Adkins took third at 105 in '81, losing to Kasser in the semi-finals.

Preston's wins over Tommy were Rowlans' junior year (Preston's senior) at 189. As good as Preston was, I don't think he measures up tp Holman.

At 130, I think Enright is a legit selection...3rd, 2nd, 2nd and an undefeated champion at 130. That stacks up well to Marinelli's two titles, both won by a single point. Horne was excellent, but he was at 140 when he won his title and I don't think he matches up well with Ramsey or Anderson. Cunningham maybe could make a run at 145?

I'm starting to think maybe Jason Hackett 3rd, 1st, 3rd (in one of the most brutal brackets of all time), should be considered at 171. Remember, he came up short at The Schott his senior season, but went on to win the Senior National title over Jake Herbert.

That is right on Kasser...I just listed his titles first.

Good call, when you saud 112 as a senior after the runner-up, I got confused (it happens a lot).

    What year did Church graduate???

Ksig...FYI, Adam DiSabito took 5th as a freshman and 3rd as a sophomore and I believe Holman took 4th as a sophomore.

cruiser, how are you not going to nominate jason allen. he went 2-inj-3-1 at the state tourney and was a world beater... he desreves to be in there somewhere despite what you think...
  • sackerdrag_135
Insert Demas at 152 (last year) and that opens a spot for Hackett or Thatcher.
  • sackerdrag_135
Also, CP wrestled 2 years for Desales. Does he get consideration?
  • Bam175
I like all the names that you guys have here.....but there are a few more that can be added...... one for sure is Rob Johnson from Watkins Mem. he went ?/2/2/1 at 126 in the early 80s......he gave Jim Jordon his only loss in HS.....and revenged his loss to Vance in one of the best state finals I have ever saw........another is Scott Duncan from Pleasant ...I think he was around 140-145. the are many other names coming to mind but I thought these 2 needed to be mentioned.......
  • romulus
ksig489 I know he was only at 130 for 1 year but I'd put TJ Enright at 130. 3rd at 112, two time runner up at 125 and champ at 130. He has to be in the discussion for the central district somewhere I think.
  • sackerdrag_135
How about Jesse Dong or Jed Moore at 152?
  • cruiser_96
    bravesman: Who is Jason Allen?
  • Snakeskins84
Where did Jason Allen go to school??
  • Varsityfan32

Against Luke Fickell!?!?!?! You are showing your youth or knowledge.

How dare you try to equate a mere mortal with Luke Fickell. I pray for you.

SnakeSkin: Jason wrestled for Worthington and then Worthington Kilbourne when the split occured. ...or so I'm told. I don't know the kid, personally.

How about Josh palivoda at 130 is senior year state champion? Four time qualifier, three time placer? I think very under rated wrestler.
  • BuzzBomb285
Rob Johnson (Watkins Memorial) should definatly be in the discussion at 125 or even 130 (he wrestled 126)...three time state finalist (80, 81, and 82 i believe) and one time champ (82) who gave Jim Jordon his only career loss to an opponent from Ohio...he also all-american'd twice (84, 85) at 126 and once (87) at 134 for LSU...
  • mrblonde
What about Keith Cupp at 152 (he went undefeated at 152 for two years in a row...runner-up at senior nationals).
