D1 Darby District Predictions!!!!!!

  • USMCdevil05
Ok....I did this lst year and it created alot of good conversation. So I am going to post my rankings again this year for all to read and pick through with a fine tooth comb! I do this just for fun and just for my own personal calibration. Last year I was 79% correct, not too bad for the first time doing it. So here we go...............

    103
    1. Murdock DC
    2. Marsico PN
    3. Noble LB
    4. Spearman L
    5. Herrera WN
    6. McCurdy DH

I have Murdock beating Spearman in the Semis and Marsico beating Herrera. Murdock pulls it off again this week against a very tough Marsico. In the "go to" matchs I have Spearman beating McCurdy and Noble beating Herrera. I think thta 3-6 here could really go almost and way, just depends on who brings their A game!

    112
    1. Strope L
    2. Boyd MF
    3. Terry VB
    4. Timchenko OO
    5. McDougle GH
    6. Longwell HDar

I see Logan strope winning this week against Boyd. I know Boyd won last week but I think he will pull it off this week. I have Strope beating Timchenko in the semis and Boyd beating McDougle. In the "go to" matchs I see Timchenko beating Longwell and Terry beating McDougle. I think the top 4 are solid here. Make no mistake, Logan Strope will need to wrestle his butt off against 3 very very tough competitors to pull off this district title, but I think the young man has it in him.

    119
    1. Regan MB
    2. DiSabato HDav
    3. Hunter PC
    4. Forrider MA
    5. Nace TV
    6. Haslam WL

I think Regan beats DiSabato again this year. Don't count DiSabato out though, he proved me wrong last year by beating Boehm. I have Regan beating Forrider in the semis and Hunter losing to DiSabato. In the "go to" matchs I have Forrider beating Nace and Hunter beating Haslam. I know what poeple are going to say! "Well McDougle and Macioce beat Nace aat the Sectional Tournament!" Well if you were there, Nace gave McDougle all he could handle in a overtime match. The way this youn g man wrrestles is that he is 10X's better wrestling a opponent the 2nd time around. Now if McDougle does beat Nace in the conso quarters then you can throw him in the 5th spot, because from what Forrider did to him last week I don't see him getting by him.

    125
    1. McCombs MA
    2. Boehm WM
    3. Whitt GC
    4. Alger WN
    5. D'Urso SB
    6. Boone OL

I don't see Boehm close to McCombs this week. I see it as being anywhere from a 6-10 point match. Boehm is a very tough kid and I think he will finally get the monkey off his back from placing at the show this year, but McCombs is on a whole different level. I have McCombs beating Boone in the semis and Boehm beating Whitt. In the "go to" matchs I see Whitt beating D'Urso and Alger beating Boone.

    130
    1. Shivener SB
    2. Clutter WL
    3. Kunzi WM
    4. Riley MV
    5. Taylor WK
    6. Hinze PN

Shivener is clearly the favorite here. He will face Kunzi in the Semis but I think he will handle him, Kunzi has suprised me before though. I have Clutter beating Riley in the semis. Clutter will also have to face a tough Taylor from WK in the quarters. In the "go to" matchs I see Kunzi beating Taylor for a 2nd week in a row, and Riley beating Hinze. If it were up to skill level then I would rnk them Shivener, Kunzi, Clutter Taylor, Riley, and Hinze. But due to bracketing Kunzi will not see Clutter and Taylor will have to beat Kunzi in the go to match. It is just a nother case of a tough draw for a kid.

    135.
    1. Fayette MB
    2. Tr. Luft TV
    3. Riegle SB
    4. Howes PN
    5. Sissler MA
    6. Brokaw N

Fayette is on a whole different universe here with this district class. All are good wrestlers but this kid hs only one thing on his mind.....Another State Title to bring home to mom. I see Fayette beating Brokaw in the semis and Luft beating Riegle. In the "go to" matchs I see Riegle beating Sissler and Brokaw losing to Howes. Also if Riegle does beat Luft then you could trade them the 2 and 3 spot here. Either way I see whoever wrestles in the go to match against Sissler beating him.

    140.
    1. Languis DS
    2. Myers VB
    3. Marsico PN
    4. Bass MA
    5. DeLande HDav
    6. Ramey TV

Languis is very tough. I see him winning handily here. Languis will beat Marsico in the Semis and Myers beats Bass. In the "go to" match I see Bass beating Ramey and Marsico beating DeLande. For Myers to get out I think his toughest match will come in the second round quarter finals against DeLande. DeLande is a very tough kid and the match really could go either way. If DeLande does win then you can switch him spots with Myers. Also for Bass to get out he will need to win a quarter finals match against a very tough Thomas from OL, but I think Bass's strength of schedule will come into play here. I think it is safe to say that due to bracketing there will be one previous state qualifier not returning to the "Schott!" I'll say I know this for 99.999% sure is that it will not be Languis!

    145.
    1. Ty. Luft
    2. Wray SF
    3. Freed SB
    4. Snyder OL
    5. Chambers PQ
    6. Kowaleski GC

I think Tyler Luft is on a hot streak and peeking at the perfect moment going into the District and State tournaments. He beat 2 very tough competitors last week at the sectional tournament handily. He will have to get past a tough competitor in Freed in the semi finals match. I see Luft beating Freed and Wray beating Snyder in the Semis as well. In the "go to" matchs I have Freed beating Kowaleski and Chambers losing to Snyder.

    152.
    1. Gordon DS
    2. Bryant PQ
    3. Hughes GC
    4. Graham TV
    5. Bui PN
    6. DeJaco St.C

Gordon healthy is the best wrestlers in this weight class. He defaulted last week at the sectional tournament against Graham due to injury. If he is healthy then he should win here. I see Gordon beating Hughes in the semis and Bryant beating Graham. For Graham to dothis he will have a very tough Match against the tough Bui. They did not wrestle against each other this year at the Panther duals because Bui was bumped up to 160. In the "go to" matchs I see Hughes beating Bui and Graham beating DeJaco. The "go to" matchs in this weight are going to be Stellar! I think we may see some overtime matchs here!

    160
    1. Marsh MA
    2. Leidecker TV
    3. Walker SB
    4. Shaffer SF
    5. Brown WC
    6. Mackessey St. C

Marsh is a tough competitor. I see him beating Leidecker in the finals this week again. Maybe not by as much but I still see him beating him. The match up of this weight class will come on Friday night! Walker and Leidecker will face off in the Quarter Finals. Whoever wins this match will be number 2 and whoever loses will be number 3. I see Leidecker beating Walker, I know Walker has been hurt alot this year and I am wondering if his endurance will come into play here in a tough match. I have Leidecker beating Mackessey in the semis and Marsh handiling Brown. In the "go to" matchs I see Walker beating Brown and Shaffer winning against Mackessey.

    171
    1. Demas WN
    2. Bailey GM
    3. Ramsey SB
    4. Ferguson PN
    5. Ford BH
    6. Martyn RB

When I hear Josh Demas, one thing comes to mind! Dirty Dirty Takedowns! Ford held him to only a takedown in the 1st period of the Sectional finals last week. He then went into one of the nasty takedown runs I have seen since Zack Shuller of Buckeye Local! Demas is heads above the other guys here. I think Bailey will push him and give him a match but I still think it will end in a major. I see Demas beating Ramsey in the Semis and Bailey beating Martyn. In the "go to" matchs I think Ramsey beats Ford and Ferguson beats Martyn.

    189
    1. DeLande HDav
    2. Justus PN
    3. Brown GH
    4. Smith MDW
    5. Franz SB
    6. Fleming OL

DeLande and Justus could go either way. I see DeLande beating Franz in the semis and Justus beating Fleming. For Smith to get to this 4 spot he will need to wrestle a very tough comback tournament. I have him losing to Russell from West in the 1st round and then battling back and beating Brofford MA, Summers MF, and King DS. Then I have him beating Fleming in the "go to" match. Also in the other "go to" I see Brown beating Franz. I think your top 3 here are a lock. For the fourth spot you could see Smith MDW, Franz SB, Fleming OL, or Russell W.

    215
    1. Weeks MA
    2. Cullen MV
    3. Lamancusa PN
    4. Jackson SB
    5. Bush VB
    6. Odienro NA

Weeks and Lamancusa are definetely the 2 best guys here. They will meet in the Semis though, and I see Weeks edging him by a thin Margin. Whoever wins that match will be your District Champ! I see Cullen beating Jackson in the other Semi. In the matchs to go. I have Lamancusa handiling Odienro and Jackson beating Bush. I think Jackson and Bush could go whoever's way.

    285
    1. Karageorge WTH
    2. Marrero RB
    3. Doan DC
    4. Winn OO
    5. Tuaquoi GH
    6. Adkisson VB

Karageorge is a monster. Marrero will really need to be on his "A" game to beat him in the Finals. I see Karageorge winning against Winn in the Semis. In the other half Semis I see Marerro beating Doan. In the "go to" matchs I think we will see Doan beat Tuaquoi and Winn beat Adkisson. The crucial match for Winn to get out will be his Quarter Finals match on Friday night. He will face a strong Tuaquoi! Whoever wins you can trade for the 3 spot and 5 loser for the 5 spot.

HAVE FUN WITH THESE! Let me here what you think.

    6. Boone OL

I don't see Boehm close to McCombs this week. I see it as being anywhere from a 6-10 point match. Boehm placed at "The Show" two years ago at 103...

but i agree...he looks primed to do it again...

You are correct Buzzbomb. Sorry I forgot about that. He does look strong this year, just imagine if he would have been healthy the whole season!
  • USMCdevil05
Team wise I think Marysville will be hard to out score with 3 champs and 6 qualifiers all together. Don't count out Springboro or Pick North though.
  • Duckme
*IF* Taylor beats Clutter, who would you have between Riley and Taylor, or even Clutter or Kunzi??
  • USMCdevil05
I would take Taylor over Riley. Like I said he is really the 4th best here in my eyes, but do some unfortuanate bracketing and cross bracketing I think he will only make it to the 5 spot. He is a good kid and I hope he proves me wrong, but it will be tough. I also think Kunzi is number 2 here, but again, bracketing factors in and I don't see him beting Shivener in the semis.
  • Duckme
It is sure to be an exciting day when anything can happen. I like the predictions and analysis though! well done
  • USMCdevil05
Thank you. And yes anything can happen at the District Tourney!

This is great reading and Jeremy has had great stuff all year. I hope the Dispatch is able to chart the number of hits his blog gets. I would venture to say that it is up there with the number of paying subscribers to the actual hard copy!!! ;)
  • USMCdevil05
Yea I wouldn't hold my breath on the dispatch and actual hard copy wrestling coverage cruiser!
  • ShockTheWorld !! !
Glad to see big Batman a.k.a. Josh Winn moving on. But seriously, where is his partner in crime Robin (Jonathan Edwards)? He most definitely should be moving on (I would put him at 3rd). He's already proved he can beat the kids YOU put in front of him...tsk tsk USMCdevil05...come on buddy :)
  • knightflyer150
Just rankings. They are for fun and we like them. However, the matches will be contested Friday and Saturday, with qualifiers being chose through that process.
  • USMCdevil05
I have Edwards beating mcgurdy in the first round and losing to spearman in the quarters. I then had some inside info that mcgurdy has beat spearman already this year. And I knew that Edwards beat mcgurdy already. Whoever wins between spearman and Edwards in that quarter finals match will be your state qualifier.
  • cruiser_96
Qualifiers aren't chosen. Qualification is EARNED!
  • USMCdevil05
Yes that is very true. But from the way the bracket is set up , whoever wins that match will most likely qualify. But it is the district tournament and anything can happen.
  • romulus
I say Martyn gets ouy at 171 I know he has to beat either Bailey or Ferguson, I just have a feeling hes gonna pull it off.

I think Edwards beats Spearman and/or McCurdy.
  • USMCdevil05
That very well could be cthelite. I have only actually seen him wrestle once this year, and that was at brecksville.
  • cruiser_96
BTW: a) Someone doesn't make weight and b) someone every thought was a "lock" to make the state tournament, won't.
  • allwrappedup
I dont think you should count out ouzts at 130 he has been ranked above riley all year.. so i think just because riley is a 1 seed doesnt mean he will
win.. but i do like your predictions just in my opionion Ouzts has a really good shot to get out!
  • Varsityfan32
havent boyd MF and Strope Lan. already met sometime this season ?

They wrestled last weekend in the sectional championship and Boyd won 3-0.

    Allwrappedup,
He is not counted out, believe me, he is my darkhorse at this weight. I think he has a good shot, The thing is though that he will have to face Taylor in the conso quarters if he loses his quarters match against Riley. If he beats Riley in the quarters then you could more than likely switch these 2 spots. Outzs would probably lose in the semis to clutter and have to wrestle Hinze or Nicholson in the "go to" match!
