Should be some good wrestling. The team race should be a good one also. Anyone have predictions?
  • Rolly67
Liberty Center and Montpelier on top, Archbold will be up there if they(meaning the tournament officials) let Cowell wrestle, with Ayersville

if they let Cowell wrestle? why didn't he wrestle at leagues?
  • Mustang66
He didn't make weight! And honestly, Rolly, that comment was uncalled for. He will wrestle. It happens...leave the kid alone!

Not meant against him, but towards certain officials after talking to his mom last saturday. Obviously didn't mean that against him he is a good kid and great wrestler, just frustrated with some situations that happened last weekend to some kids. My proposal is a ref and official be present at weighins and the kids weight is wrote down on their hand with a sharpie so we never again have a situation like we did last saturday.
  • Mustang66
Rolly, the situation you are referring to did not even involve Jordan Cowell. That was an entirely different scenerio. There was question as to whether the scale was certified and accurate, however...but the recording of the weight, I agree an official should be present, but that is not a rule as of this past Saturday. My question...where was the league commissioner?? Too many decisions going this way and that way that could have been avoided.

The bigger question, in my opinion is, where was the Head Coach during weigh-ins? You have a returning state qualifier trying to make "scratch" weight (not refering to Jordan Cowell) and you don't hand walk him to the scales? I think that's the coaches job, but maybe I don't know the entire situation.

With all that being said, good luck to all the wrestlers this weekend...! Looking forward to some great matches.. And most of all stay healthy..
  • Mustang66
Maybe the head coach should have been there, but how many head coaches are at weigh ins? I honestly don't know. What i do know...he is a senior, and he would not have gotten off the scale and went and ate if he was not under or on weight. Plus you had an entire team and at least two coaches from that school - not the wrestler's home school - in the weigh in room that saw the weight, and vouched for him. THere are a lot of "bigger" questions surrounding the scenerio, and a lot of irony involving the persons associated with what happened. If you want to discuss that, I will via personal message, not on here.
  • Mustang66
Rolly and Yupitsme...i would love to respond to your private messages, but OBVIOUSLY i dont' have enough "posts" on here to respond, which is just DUMB! If you want, email me at [email protected]. Thanks!!

Liberty Center, Montpelier, then Archbold maybe Ayersville. hopefully Montpelier wrestlers have there heads on strait down the tournament trail and i only say this because the are new to being up on top in standings. They had quite a few quality wrestlers at leagues and i hope to see them all the way to state.Good luck to all NWOAL wrestlers and lets make a good showing all the way to state.

Cannot believe there is not more talk about this sectional. It's always interesting to see how the GMC matches up with the NWOAL...I look for LC and Montpelier to battle for the top spot, with ARchbold mixing it up and maybe playing the spoiler...Ayersville will have a few kids battling for tops spots - Moore, Hussey, Hall, Mansfield and Limber come to mind - but not real familiar with many other GMC wrestlers. Can't believe Tinora has dropped off as drastically as they have - and why can't i think of the kid's name from Edgerton...Josh ???....but Hicksville won the GMC, right? Looking forward to a couple fun days/nights of wrestling, and of course a little Ickey's, too!!!

'Stang - now that I know about this site, I'll be more active. Comments/Complaints on last night's format? Big match for Elling!

How sweet was it watching the Championship matches under the spotlight. Way to get the crowd pumped up! Once again the NWOAL dominated the Archbold Sectional.

although i agree that the nwoal did run away with it i think the GMC school's did a good job of hanging with them. Considering the 4 NWOAL school still have a larger enrollment than the 5 GMC schools. I think they performed well. Tinora's program being down really hurt them. When you have the smaller schools it can get difficult to field a full team.

Enrollment figures for all of the schools involved:
    Archbold - 157
    Ayersville - 92
    Delta - 166
    Edgerton - 103
    Fairview - 132
    Hicksville - 130
    Liberty Center - 159
    Montpelier - 127
    Paulding - 204
    Stryker - 63
    Tinora - 137

Based on enrollment Tinora, Fairview and Hicksville should have finished higher than Montpelier, and Paulding should have won the tournament.
