That was K. Mcdougle losing last year.
  • Dust_E_Roads
Yep, you guys are correct. It was the brother. I'd heard it was a pretty heated match, with some blood. So maybe Drew will look to extract some revenge.... Outstanding wrestlers either way. Potential to be a great match!
  • Cthelites
Gahanna was at Brecksville so he saw some tough kids for sure.
  • cruiser_96
Never can tell which one is Kasee or which one is Drew.

Remember the movie "Twins" with Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger? That was great.
  • ptown3
Kasee has the cooler headgear, just sayin

Hey, guys, a lot has been said about 38 here, but what about the other weights?

I think 160 should be a good battle. Who doesn't make it out?

Also looking foward to seeing 152. I think this is one of the weaker weights in our district and that there are several kids who have an equal shot to make it out at Darby. is Deluse one of those second-teir kids, or will he challenge the likes of Yarger and Lancia for the title at districts?
  • cruiser_96
I'm not sold Deluse is a second tier kid. He is top shelf if I've ever seen it. Between Lancia, Deluse and Yarger, I think there will be some battles. I'm positive I'm forgetting a few but those are tops.

I agree Deluse is really good.
Has he wrestled Yarger or Lancia?
Chappeller GC and Troccio DS come to mind. I saw that Gahanna kid just dropped too, he could be in the mix.
And Neely UA is having a good yr. That 4th spot will be interesting. The draw could determine who goes.

    Ding, ding, ding!!!

You mentioned the 4th spot... As students of Bracketology, it is always fun to follow the guys who we think are going to be duking it out for that covetted spot!

Probably a stupid question, but does anyone know if the way the brackets are made for Darby is set?

In other words, will the Pick No. 1 face the Marysville No. 4, the Westland No. 1 face the Watkins No. 4 OR will a random No. 4 face a random No. 1?

If i remember from last year correctly, it varied by weight but within the weight it was consistent which sectional's placers faced each other.

Bump and run: to start... randomly drawn (with the recently selected not being available) on Saturday night.

I am ashamed to admit this but I have 2010, 2011, and 2012's pairings in an Excel sheet. Three - count them 1, 2, 3 - three formats have been reused. (It may be four, but I'm pretty sure it is 3.) Of those three, only one has been used in each of the three years.

Point if note: I am doing this in order to make a quick reference for my district brackets. I don't want to type them out. Aint nobody got time for that!

Also, it's worth noting that there are a lot of ways to mix up a bracket. More than I thought. And, technically, two could be the same if they just rotate it along the x-axis. Whatever, dude.

Just doing a scan of last year, it appears that which sectional's seeds faced each other in the first round at Darby did bounce around per weight:

    http://www.baumspage.com/cedist/hi1/2011/2012%20Brackets.pdf

After that, is idea to have the 1 and 4 seeds from a sectional on one side of the bracket and the 2 and 3 seeds from the same sectional on the other?
  • cruiser_96
The line always looks the same...

    1
    4
    3
    2
    2
    3
    4
    1
    1
    4
    3
    2
    2
    3
    4
    1

The question is, which sectionals get paired per weight class and THAT is what gets selected on Saturday night.

I'm guessing that's done after the decision makers see the sectional results, but just to satisfy my curious and wandering mind... the saturday night after sectionals (feb. 16) or this saturday (feb. 9)?

Edit: oh wait you said randomly drawn. still open question of which saturday, though...
  • cruiser_96
I do not think they have to have the results in hand. They are unconcerned with who finishes where. They pull the first alignment and put it on 106. They pull the second, they put it on 113, and so on. It makes no difference to them. They aren't looking to line people up or avoid a match-up.

Also, the pairings get released on the 16th. I'm pretty sure it was up around 11pm last year. I'll go back and check out the Chatter. See if I get any details...
  • cruiser_96
9:35pm on the Saturday of sectionals. That's pretty legit!

This may help a little bit....granted it is an old formula with the old weight classes, but the mechanics are the same. I'm sure they use something similar to this. All you have to do is randomly pick your A, B, C & D....randomly assign a letter to each of the four sectional sites...and that's it, instant brackets

    Cool, thanks, D4S!

Back to this sectional, who besides Deluse do you think gets out at 52? Cthelites, you mentioned the Gahanna kid. Do you mean Holloway? Yes, he's pretty good, but maybe not quite at the Lancia/Yarger/Deluse level. I think Yarger majored or teched him at the state dual?

Probably a dumb question, but does Boyd have any matches at 152 this season?

He's not at this sectional (@ westland), but Cthelites also mentioned Scioto's Troccio. He's solid, but he does have a 5-3 loss to madison plains' Jake Datz, who Lancia pinned according to the marion county results on Yappi. Will Simpson be at 52 for sectionals? If so, I think he and Troccio meet in the finals at Westland.

Is Trocchio healthy? Went out with a concussion vs Pearson from Jerome at All North

When Anthony is healthy he is top three at 152. Don't like to comment on injuries and health. At this time of year it's very important. Look for Zak Donnetelli to make it in the top four at districts at 152. I believe Boyds minimum weight is 154

Wow that sux. Prayers to anthony on a speedy recovery so he can finish his sr yr in the tourney.
These concussions are perhaps the worst kind of injury as there is no definitive time table on a return and you cant do ANYTHING in the mean time while you are waiting to heal.

Bump, I believe there is some separation at 52 at the District level with the 3 lancia yarger and deluse mentioned. There is the next tier for that 4th spot and it is anyones game. I would give Chappeller the slight edge on that field but it is a close pack for sure. Im not sure what is all out there until I see the sectional brackets. Im sure I missed some good kids as booger mentioned the younger donatelli is wrestling well right now.
And boyd looks rock solid at 160!
  • bump_and_run
I forgot about Zack. Yes, he should be in the mix for that fourth spot, maybe higher if one of the top three has a bad day -- we've certainly seen that happen before!!

Believe Juty will be 195 for sectionals.
